Environment Health and Safety (EH&S) / Risk Services (RSS) is a unit within ANR that provides occupational safety, environmental compliance, and risk management activities to ANR academics, staff, volunteers, and program participants. This requires consultation, communication, training, auditing, claims management, risk assessment and mitigation support for all programs and units in ANR statewide. The Director of RSS reports to the Director of Facilities Planning and Management, reporting up to the ANR Associate Vice President for Administrative Services
This position is a career appointment that is 100% fixed.
The home department for this position is EH&S / Risk Services. While this position normally is based in Davis, CA, this position is eligible for hybrid flexible work arrangements for applicants living in the State of California at this time. Please note that hybrid flexible work arrangements are subject to change by the University.
Pay Scale: $26.82/hour to $36.49/hour

Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.

Special Conditions of Employment:
Must possess valid California Driver's License to drive a County or University vehicle. * Conducts random vehicle inspections to ensure vehicles are in acceptable operating condition and contain the required safety equipment
* Conducts and/or assists, as needed, with monthly safety meetings for the Districts
* Ensures that all vehicle and PPE Inspections are completed
* Ensures Districts are maintaining the most current safety, training, and QA manuals as well as training aides
* Assists Districts with completing customer issued PQF forms
* Performs scheduled audits and provides comprehensive reports for the Districts to ensure compliance with applicable TISI, OSHA, DOT, RSPA, FMCSA and EPA Safety Policies and Standards.
Job Qualifications
* High school diploma or equivalent required
* Associates degree in a Health safety or environmental related discipline
* Two (2) to four (4) years prior experience in safety role in an industrial setting
* Holds OSHA certifications in at least 30 hour courses or other equivalent certifications
Work Conditions
* Position is based out of a District location
* Field duties require indoor and outdoor work in a plant atmosphere
* Interaction with other crew employees, as well as supervisors and client personnel
* Working in plant and/or shop areas around production machinery with extreme noise levels

Have authority to stop work if unacceptable health or safety conditions exist and take necessary action to re-establish and maintain safe working conditions.
Ensure site compliance with specified SOH requirements, Federal, state and OSHA regulations and all aspects of the APP/SSHP including, but not limited to, activity hazard analyses, sound monitoring, use of PPE, site controls, standard operating procedures used to minimize hazards, safe use of engineering controls, the emergency response plan, confined space entry procedures (as required), spill containment program, and preparation of records by performing a daily safety inspection and documenting results on the Daily Safety Inspection Log.
Have an expert knowledge of EM-385-1-1 and 29 CFR 1926.16.
Receive oversee and develop Activity Hazard Analysis forms for all definable features of work.

Oversee daily safety briefs and prior to starting work, to include toolbox talks and briefing of daily applicable AHAs.

Investigate property damage and personal injury accidents to determine cause and methods to prevent recurrence.
Conduct accident investigations and prepare incident and accident reports for review by Management and as required by OSHA and other regulatory agencies.
