The Site Safety Manager (SSM) for this large-scale data center construction project will be responsible for overseeing all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) activities on-site. As the client's representative, the SSM will ensure that safety regulations and the owner's expectations are met while maintaining a collaborative relationship with general contractors. Key Responsibilities: Routinely monitor and assess the safety performance of all general contractors to ensure compliance with safety regulations, contract specifications, and client expectations. Identify and address any safety gaps or non-compliance issues swiftly. Provide timely, accurate EHS performance data to the construction management team, including incident tracking, trends, KPIs, and other relevant metrics. Ensure the contractor submits complete and accurate safety reports. Conduct weekly site safety walks with the contractor's management and the owner's project team. Participate in daily safety walks with contractors to ensure constant safety monitoring. Act as a safety coach to contractors, subcontractors, and the project team to ensure all safety protocols are followed. Guide contractors on the development and implementation of safety assessments and hazard controls (RAMS, JHAs, ARTs, etc.). Lead the management and reporting of Significant Events (SE) and Significant Potential Events (SPE) to ensure immediate action is taken on critical safety issues. Address any safety non-compliance or non-conformance immediately, escalating to appropriate stakeholders for corrective actions. Conduct monthly safety audits of contractor activities and verify that the Safety Plan aligns with project requirements and regulatory standards. Ensure adherence to safety regulations and review site-specific safety plans for compliance. Participate in safety meetings to ensure safety information is shared across all contractors, subcontractors, and the owner's team. Assist with project design and planning to incorporate safety considerations from the start of the project lifecycle. Assist the client in implementing safety initiatives, ensuring safety is prioritized throughout all project phases. Attend and actively participate in safety training sessions and programs as required. Qualifications & Requirements: Minimum 3 years of site safety experience in data center construction or electrical/commercial construction projects. Experience working as an Owner's Representative or client safety representative on large-scale construction projects. Required: CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician). Preferred: CSP (Certified Safety Professional). Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with multiple contractors and stakeholders. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities. Ability to coach, mentor, and collaborate with diverse teams. Proficiency in EHS tracking tools and software for reporting. Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus. Union experience is an advantage but not required. Local candidates preferred. Physical Requirements: Ability to conduct frequent site safety inspections and walk the construction site. Knowledge of OSHA regulations, NFPA standards, EPA guidelines, and other relevant safety codes. OSHA 30-Hour Certification (or willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe). First Aid, CPR, and AED certification (preferred). Smith System Driving Training Certification (or willingness to obtain within specified timeframe). Strong communication and training skills, with the ability to educate employees on safety procedures. Ability to conduct safety visits/audits, risk assessments, and root cause analyses for incidents. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for documentation and reporting. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with management and field teams. Frequent travel to job sites and work in varying conditions (indoors, outdoors, confined spaces, and elevated work areas) required.
