Safety Patrol Officer $750 Sign-on Bonus


Performs a variety of safety and security duties in order to provide for the safety and protection of all patients, employees, visitors and/or others in and around the properties, structures, lands or areas that are owned, used, leased or otherwise occupied by Mass Eye and Ear or its affiliates or others as encountered during the regular course of performing authorized job duties.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1) Patrol all properties owned or protected by Mass Eye and Ear or its affiliates ensuring that all established Infirmary wide and departmental security and parking policies and procedures are maintained to the most efficient levels and standards.
2) Will remain alert to acts of a suspicious nature and make inquires to all persons as to true identity and purpose for being in buildings/structures or on land/grounds.
3) Maintain proficiency in techniques of crowd control, reaction to emergency procedures, search procedures, evidence gathering, questioning of witnesses, and protection of recovered property and the preparation of written reports.
4) Respond and investigate all requests for assistance, alarm violations, secure areas, and make recommendations for preventative maintenance to all equipment and systems.
5) Monitor/check all alarms activated and appearing in the alarm system database. Will know procedures for authorizing alarm entry and record all information in the daily activity log database.
6) Maintains, assigns, and grants access to ID Badge system in Continuum.
7) Escort all persons to Mass Eye and Ear buildings and affiliated properties when requested.
8) Enforce established parking policies and notify Supervisor and/or Director of all violations.
9) Maintain the integrity of the Master Key System by controlling access to Infirmary properties after verifying identity of all persons requesting any doors or buildings to be opened or secured.
10) Will abide by approved departmental and Infirmary policies and procedures. 11) May assist in traffic control and snow removal efforts
12) May be required to perform other duties as requested by Security Supervisor or Director.
13) Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care (or services) appropriate to the age of the patients served in the department. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span, possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patients status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patients requirements relative to his/her age specific needs

Qualifications
  • Some college courses in law enforcement or business administration recommended.
  • Preferably at least one year experience in Healthcare Safety/Security.
  • Must use proper discretion in determining when person/persons have violated the laws of the City/Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

U.S. Facilities safety patrol officer job description

U.S. Facilities, Inc., a consolidated facility management and infrastructure support services organization, is seeking a Safety Service Patroller in Salem, VA. Safety Service Patrollers (SSP) provide safe, quick clearance of incidents that affect traffic, including disabled vehicles. The primary purpose of the SSP is to ensure the roadways are free of obstructions and safe for the traveling public. To ensure safety, SSP wear highly visible, reflective uniforms and drive specially marked vehicles when assisting motorists and emergency responders. Upon successful completion of classroom and field training, the SSP will be certified to operate a fully equipped Safety Service Vehicle.

Monitors the safety of roadways (vehicle crashes, disabled/abandoned vehicles, debris, and lane-closing events, signal malfunctions, and general incident/congestion)

Provides roadside assistance to stranded motorists (including changing tires, giving battery jumps, providing fuel, removing debris from the travel lanes, etc.)

Works closely with other first responders at highway incidents by providing incident response, on-scene traffic control and basic first aid.

Communicates with Traffic Operations Center (TOC) staff with regard to disabled vehicles, abandoned vehicles, debris, and lane-closing events and coordinates operations
The following physical demands are frequently required as part of the role:

Minimum Requirements

* High School Diploma and or equivalent certificate (GED) or 1 year of related work experience in lieu of education

* Be a minimum of 18 years of age

* Ability to drive, using an AECOM provided vehicle, patrolling and monitoring a segment of interstate roadway in an assigned region.

* Must pass a State and Federal criminal history/security background check; must also successfully complete Virginia Department of Transportation fingerprint-based Criminal History Records Check (CHRC)

* Possess a valid driver's license and a clean driving record in the last 3 years, including no suspension of license or single violation that the Motor Vehicle Department treats as worth 6 demerits

* Employees must also participate in monthly MVR monitoring program and maintain a satisfactory driving record as a condition of employment

* Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and successfully participate in the program's mandatory random drug screening process

* Physically able, with or without an accommodation, to work in outdoor environments with uneven terrain, variable outdoor conditions including heat, cold, moisture, dust, dryness, noise, and automotive-related chemicals (e.g., fuels, coolants, lubricants, etc.); position requires frequent operation of vehicles, lifting of less than 25 pounds, and work around heavy, moving, dangerous equipment; often standing/walking, repetitive bending & stooping, lifting of 25-75 pounds, working with arms above shoulder level, and power gripping/squeezing (hand tools, levers, etc.); occasional work at heights, and work on electrical circuits; rare lifting of greater than 75 pounds, and stair climbing. Position will include wearing associated personal protective equipmen

Preferred Qualifications

* Five (5) years of driving experience

* Prior Safety Service Patrol Operator experience.

* Knowledge/experience of incident management techniques

* Radio and telecommunications experience

* Possess or be able and willing to obtain CPR certifications

* Basic competency in using computers such as laptops, smart pads.

* Working knowledge of basic automotive repair

* Demonstrate positive customer service attitude - both to co-workers (internal customers) and Customers

* Ability to work alternate work schedules and on-call duties at a 24/7/365 operation center; Schedules are dictated by need of operation and stated in advance. Schedules will vary.

* Able to maintain situational awareness at all times.

* Adherence to all federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, regulations and standards related to traffic and motor vehicle operation and safety

* Ability to maintain a courteous and considerate demeanor at all times and constantly strive to provide customer excellence

* Willingness to consistently do their part to contribute and maintain a safe and secure workplace

* Ability to communicate clearly and concisely

* High degree of autonomy in carrying out responsibilities requires a strong sense of judgement and self-motivation to perform, while also working in a team, collaborative environment.

* Position is performed outdoors 100% of the time, along roadsides in an uncontrolled work environment
