About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled EHS Manager for a client-side role to support and oversee the safe commissioning of a data center project in Abilene. The ideal candidate will combine deep commissioning expertise with a strong focus on Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS), ensuring all systems are tested, verified, safely transitioned into operational service. SENIOR FIELD SAFETY MANAGER FLSA Class: EXEMPT Responsible to: DIRECTOR OF HSQ The Field Senior Safety Manager is responsible for providing onsite health, safety, and environmental support during both the construction and operational phases of VoltaGrid's large microgrid project in Abilene, Texas. This role will be established during the construction phase and will remain during operations as the site safety role
This unique, dual-phase role requires expertise in both OSHA 29 CFR 1926 (Construction) and OSHA 29 CFR 1910 (General Industry) standards to ensure a seamless transition from construction through commissioning and into long-term operations. The specialist will lead safety initiatives, support root cause investigations, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive a proactive safety culture across all site activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Establish positive safety culture for the project site.
* Develop safety performance metrics and key targets for the project.
* Provide clear guidance for all safety efforts during the construction phase, coordinating with contractors, site managers, and third-party vendors.
* Review and approve construction safety plans, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and contractor safety programs.
* Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with OSHA 1926, company policies, and local regulations.

* Provide immediate first aid or coordinate medical response as required.
* Promote ethical behavior, safety accountability, and a strong, proactive safety culture.
* Communicate policies, plans, and procedures clearly to ensure compliance and alignment with VoltaGrid's core safety values.
Other Requirements:
* Minimum of 5+ years of experience in Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSSEQ) management systems or equivalent.
* Demonstrated experience in construction and operational safety, preferably in industrial, energy infrastructure, or data center environments.
* Strong working knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1926 and 1910 standards.
* Proficient in root cause analysis methodologies and corrective/preventive action planning.
* Excellent communication, leadership, and coordination skills.
* Willingness to work in field conditions and flexible schedules as required.
* Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
* Bachelor of Science in Safety, Environmental Science, or a related technical field.
* Professional certification(s) such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) - highly desirable.
* Experience with data analysis and safety performance reporting tools.
* Familiarity with workplace hygiene practices (noise monitoring, ergonomics, exposure testing).

The Role:
The Safety Manager will provide support to the project staff and the TW Constructors safety team in an effort to execute corporate safety and health standards and procedures in compliance with Federal, State, and Local requirements. In addition to your project responsibilities, you shall participate in and complete all assignments designated to you. This will include, but is not limited to, assisting in development of a zero injury safety culture on each project, conducting at least weekly documented jobsite safety inspections, effectively communicate orientations for all new project workers, assist with and review subcontractor daily pre-task safety analysis, actively promote and participate in daily stretch and flex program, identify project trends and execute proactive safety initiatives to eliminate incidents, support corporate goals and initiatives, emphasize and support proactive safety such as near miss/hazard reporting, coach and recognize workers on safe work methods, report all incidents in an effective and timely manner following established protocols and be a champion in motivating workers to perform their jobs safely! Your responsibilities will be all encompassing for each project you will be dedicated to. Travel is a requirement of this position.
Responsibilities:

Conduct weekly documented jobsite safety inspections
Develop and support a zero-injury safety culture on each project
Direct orientations for all new project workers
Assist with and review subcontractor daily pre-task safety analysis
Identify project trends and execute proactive safety initiatives to eliminate incidents
Report all incidents in an effective and timely manner
Assist in development of the project safety program
Establish and conduct jobsite orientation for new project employees. Administer and record their participation in the orientation program and issue identification to those employees completing the orientation program
Attend all initial meetings with the project staff and subcontractor representatives to clearly define their role within the confines of the project safety program
Manage other safety supervisors on the project
Conduct and document pre-planning safety meetings with each subcontractor representatives to establish safety procedures prior to subcontractor's activity on site.
Establish and conduct regular (weekly) safety meetings with subcontractor representatives and with project staff to ensure proper compliance
Facilitate training for site personnel and ensure that standards are compliant to OSHA/TW Constructors and also in compliance with Federal, State, and Local standards
Ensure and maintain a log of each subcontractor toolbox safety meeting
Review each subcontractor's safety program and ensure that it meets or exceeds the project safety program requirements
Ensure that each subcontractor designates a safety representative that is properly trained in subcontractor's scope of work and has the proper authority to correct safety issues
Conduct regular daily and weekly jobsite inspections and complete the safety checklist noting safety violations and corrective actions
Record, notify and prepare written report of any violations or unsafe practices to subcontractors for immediate correction actions
Stop at once any violation or unsafe acts or practices
Assist the Project Superintendent in establishing and implementing proper fire prevention, evacuation, and fire control procedures
Investigate all incidents and generate proper reports in a timely matter
Establish and maintain all required safety records
Conduct a monthly overview safety meeting and attend project staff meetings to brief on safety issues
Perform other duties as necessary
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Health and Safety, or equivalent
Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
Electrical and/or Lift Safety Experience Preferred
General knowledge of construction principles and practices required
5-10 years of safety experience or combination of education or multiple years of experience in building construction, with a working knowledge of safety principles and techniques
Field and on-site experience is a plus
OSHA 30 hour construction accreditation required
OSHA 500 Outreach Trainer is a plus
Computer skills with familiarity with Microsoft Office
Excellent problem-solving skills, with an adaptable and flexible style in working with all types of individuals
Experienced dealing with subcontracts, subcontractors and/or self-perform work is a plus
Creative and results-oriented, with a strong sense of urgency
Successful internships or safety engineering experience on projects is a plus
Highly entrepreneurial and self-motivated, with the ability to work equally well on own as well as in a team environment
