Provides technical and administrative direction on safety and health issues that aligns to overall company goals, operations, and key deliverables. Provides subject matter expertise and guidance. *Key Responsibilities* * Supports the culture of Safety First and continuous improvement of safety performance including sharing of best practices, communication of safety advisories, and standardized training. * Responsible for safety audit program(s) by evaluating and continuous improvement of audit process. Guides and/or participate in safety audits for processing plant operations and assists with the development and implementation of corrective action plans. * Develops, facilitates, and monitors implementation of standardized safety and security programs and processes. * Evaluates, interprets, and utilizes data from safety hazard assessments and audits to create improvements in enterprise compliance and incident statistics. * Serves as subject matter expert and renders guidance to facilities for participation in the OSHA Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) or state equivalent program. * Monitors and supports compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local requirements (including codes, regulations, laws) governing safety. Serves as subject matter expert for OSHA Process Safety Management requirements. * Compiles, evaluates, and interprets data from injuries and incidents to identify and implement safety processes that move the enterprise towards continuous improvement of injury rates. * Assists in the investigation of serious incidents, ensure proper records are compiled, and assist in implementation of corrective actions as it relates to the incident to minimize recurrence. * Devises, oversees, and coordinates training programs or media which will increase proficiency in safe practices and promote safety and health consciousness. * Provides regular written reports, including injury statistics and drug screening information, as well as other safety and health related results and updates to relevant teams. * Supports enterprise safety and health programs and processes by advising company operations and safety management. * Participates/attends industry related conferences, as requested. *Minimum Qualifications (Educations & Experience) * * High school diploma, GED, or equivalent * 8+ years of relevant experience or the knowledge, skills, and abilities to succeed in the role * CPR/First Aid certified *Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities* * Significant experience in developing, standardizing, and implementing safety and health programs * Experience with fleet safety, protein processing, live animal and/or poultry operations * Expert knowledge of Occupational Safety rules/regulations * Proven ability to guide and/or conduct safety audits and implement corrective action plans * Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills with the ability to effectively communicate and influence at all levels * Highly skilled at overseeing OSHA VPP (or state equivalent) and OSHA Process Safety Management requirements * Excellent technology skills (i.e. Microsoft suite, video conferencing platforms, etc.) * Strong project and program management skills with the proven ability to successfully implement programs * Highly skilled at training, coaching, and mentoring *Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities* * Bachelor's degree in relevant field (i.e. Safety and Health) * Occupational Health and/or Safety accredited professional certification *Physical Demands* * While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, keyboard, and occasionally lifting up to 10 pounds. * Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision and the ability to adjust focus. *Working Conditions* * *This role requires regular on-site presence. Analyze audit results; implement corrective actions as required to address audit nonconformances. Food Plant Sanitation: * Assist in the planning, supervising, and administration of sanitation programs, policies and practices designed to ensure plant cleanliness and regulatory compliance. * Conduct effective, risk-based sanitation audits to identify gaps and improvement opportunities to ensure food safety and compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, company policies / procedures and customer expectations. * Monitor, verify and validate equipment cleaning methods including recommendations to meet plant sanitation and microbiological objectives. Oversee plant sanitation and environmental pathogen control. * Address sanitation requirements using Master Cleaning Schedules (MCS) and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP). Conduct necessary training to address sanitation / hygiene / GMP compliance. * Oversee and direct activities related to pest control including monitoring, recordkeeping, exclusion practices and treatment programs. Occupational Health & Safety: * Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state and local safety standards and regulations including industry best practices. Responsible for OSHA compliance and workplace safety including required training programs. * Directs and assists with the investigation of workplace accidents/injuries and near-misses. Oversees the preparation of accident reports including root-cause analysis, identification of causal factors and recommended corrective actions. Oversees the implementation of corrective actions * Develop and maintain workplace safety procedures and policies, and design, develop and deliver related training to meet the needs and initiatives of the organization. * Reduces workers' compensation claims and associated costs through the prevention of workplace accident/injuries. * Perform additional duties or assignments as needed. About the Role Responsible for leading all facets of Environmental Health and Safety including policy creation, implementation of programs, interpretation, reporting of information, employee training, workers' compensation administration, OSHA compliance and safety of all workers and other responsibilities as needed. What You'll Do Provide leadership and direction in the development and implementation of EHS programs across multiple manufacturing plants. Collaborate with plant managers and EHS team members to ensure consistent application of safety standards and practices. Evaluate effectiveness of existing EHS programs; determine the need for additional programs. Recommend preventive measures to reduce or eliminate industrial accidents and health hazards. Manage and maintain ISO 45001 and 14001 standards. Manage and maintain plant environmental requirements. Develop and implement additional programs as needed or dictated by plant and corporate management - to be in compliance with local, state and federal EHS requirements. Coordinate and manage the Safety Committees at each plant and make periodic safety and housekeeping inspections throughout all facilities. Proactively identify opportunities for process improvements in safety procedures, risk mitigation, and emergency response planning. Implement best practices to enhance the overall safety performance of each manufacturing plant. Maintain and communicate EHS metrics as required, to facility and/or corporate Operations Management - Acting as the Group EHS contact with government EHS agencies and insurers. Lead and/or participate in the investigation of employee concerns, EHS Incidents, and Employee Observations/Near Misses, along with corrective action development, implementation, and follow-up. Ensure that OSHA and CCOHS requirements are met. Prepare monthly safety committee meeting agenda and coordinate monthly meetings. Design/Deliver safety trainings at all plants including fork truck training and Hazardous Material Communication Track all safety training and licenses to ensure compliance with expiration dates. Maintain and keep current training documentation. Design and maintain New Hire Safety Orientation program including providing the required training for newly hired teammates. Manage site Property Loss Prevention activities. Handle all Workers' Compensation matters including ensuring accident reporting procedures are followed at all facilities. Maintain OSHA 300 Log, complete annual reports, and post. Oversee safety self-audits and inspections. Encourage and create a high level of safety awareness. Work with employees at all levels of the organization. Expect to travel up to 50%-60% of the time for job related duties. Perform any other responsibilities and assignments as needed. Additional Expectations Remain compliant with the Code of Conduct and Policies which includes the Kingspan Group Compliance Policy. Ensure that all duties related to product compliance are adhered to in accordance with the Product Compliance Policy, Laws, Regulations, and market demands. What You'll Bring Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Environmental Health and Safety or related subject area Minimum of ten years of experience in EHS. A minimum of five years' experience in a leadership role. Previous EHS experience in a manufacturing facility. EHS certificates such as CSP, ASP, CHMM or similar helpful. Previous experience developing an EHS Program, including accident investigation, ergonomics, industrial hygiene, life safety, machine guarding, air permitting, wastewater, hazardous waste, property conservation, and workers' Computer Skills: Must be highly proficient in all Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point) and Outlook.
