Summary:
Conducts monitoring/sampling for exposure control and regulatory compliance assists in development of work plans and provides oversight of activity. Position Summary: The Senior Manager, Process Safety Management, Emergency Response and Occupational Safety is accountable for administering and executing process safety management and occupational safety programs for the site to achieve compliance with applicable local/federal regulations and result in an environmentally safe workplace. This includes oversight of capital renovations, new construction projects, and daily operational safety, in alignment with BMS standards and current Good Manufacturing Practices.
Responsibilities:
* Provide technical and regulatory guidance on process safety management and occupational safety issues, focusing on the recognition, evaluation and control of physical, chemical, and environmental hazards.
* Development of proper procedures, work practices, and equipment to use in order to ensure compliance with all BMS standards, legal requirements, and regulations in these fields.
* Conduct EHS self-assessment programs, policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable local, federal regulations and company directives.
* Review capital renovations and new construction projects to ensure environmental, industrial hygiene and Safety issues are included since design.
* Participate in legal and regulatory agencies inspections site audits, and as Site contact for EHS community outreach activities and the Community Awareness & support Emergency Response Program.
* Responsible to lead the implementation of Process Safety Management, Occupational Safety programs for the site which include the following duties:
* Develop and deliver occupational safety, process safety management and support contractor safety & emergency response team training programs.
* Develop & conducts process hazard analysis, support in development & conducts emergency pre plans, and coordinate drills,
* Maintain statistics, trends and applicable reports and presentations Represents the site on EHS issues through participation in Professionals Industry Association.
* Conduct and/or participate in process hazard reviews of new and existing equipment to ensure environmental, industrial hygiene, occupational safety, emergency response is included since its design.
* Participate in the site's departmental environmental, health and safety self-inspections program.
* Participate, support, lead and /or implement the 14 elements of the process safety programs, business continuity and occupational safety such as but not limited to, electrical safety, contractor safety, fire protection
* Support the contractor qualification program to assure contractors meet minimum EHS requirements prior to offer services to BMS.
* Administer the PSM incident investigations program to determine rood cause and develop action plan to avoid recurrence and follows-up to ensure improvements are implemented
* Lead as required and actively participate in the site's EHS Committee.
* Supports the department to comply with the budget to assure controlled expenses within established goal and; supports department director in administrative areas such as budget, capital appropriation, change control and company representation.
* Perform other related duties, as required.
Education/Experience/ Licenses/Certifications:
* Bachelor Degree in Chemistry, Engineering or related EH&S field
* At least five (5) years of experience working at Environmental, Health and Safety in the Pharmaceutical industry

Compensation Overview:

Summary:
Conducts monitoring/sampling for exposure control and regulatory compliance assists in development of work plans and provides oversight of activity. Conducts statistical analyses of sample data using accepted methodologies or company data base; develops management reports. This is accomplished using or developing sample plan for guidance; use of appropriate testing methods and evaluating results.
Updates, revises and tracks changes to health & safety procedures organization's safety standards in accordance with government regulations. Assists with governmental reporting. Conduct industrial hygiene surveys. Assist management in identifying potential hazards. Assists field management with loss control efforts including hazard assessment and control, compliance assessments and establishment of behaviorial safety systems. These are accomplished by serving as subject matter expert, or in a leadership assignment at work team level.
Develops and implement safety training programs for site locations. May develop IH and emergency response programs. Provides input for the development and implementation of programs to track and evaluate personnel injury experience. These activities are accomplished by evaluating training needs, identifying best method to deliver training, scheduling training, and serving as trainer.
Conducts basic trend analysis, audits, accident investigations and site inspections of operational procedures and site specific safety plans. Participates in reviewing sites where safety hazards have been identified and recommends solutions. Provides assistance for site safety evaluations during emergency incidents which may include performing tests using instruments to detect hazardous materials. This is accomplished using audit tools or through meeting with all interested parties with the responsibility to develop improvement recommendations.
Acts as team member on medium to large projects serving as subject matter expert or providing team leadership at work team level.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience and 5+ years related experience
Able to apply theoretical knowledge of subject matter on the job; Good communication skills required. Must be able to review, interpret and summarize regulations, and recommend compliance directions. Benchmarks against internal and external safety groups in order to identify and recommend loss prevention strategies. Partners with Training to identify and recommend training interventions. Have thorough knowledge of applicable governmental regulations. Familiarity with safety management processes and programs and Industrial hygiene programs
Applies knowledge and principles learned in advanced study on the job. Uses degree to interpret governmental regulations to ensure all locations are in compliance. Also uses degree to develop corrective action for individual incidents and recognize systemic issues.

We are searching for the best talent for Senior Safety Specialist to be located at San Lorenzo, PR.
The Senior Safety Specialist provides technical expertise on safety and occupational health matters. Will assist with the establishment, maintenance, and improvement of robust processes to identify, evaluate, mitigate, and control risk at workplace and environment. Evaluate, plan, and implement appropriate occupational safety and occupational health program components, including development and delivery of training materials. Leads all safety health matters at the plant. Support managing of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 Certification processes as requested. Drives progress of management action plans completion, providing technical support to ensure corporate, business franchise, and site goals are delivered. Ensures all EHS related records and equipment is properly maintained, prepared, and submitted in a timely manner. Facilitate EHS audits and inspections, recommendations, and process improvements.
You will be responsible for:
Support projects identifying potential risk and leading implementation of appropriate control measures.
Lead a comprehensive fire and explosion hazard identification/risk assessment - open flame processes and classified areas including inspection, testing and maintenance programs for critical fire safety equipment including container integrity, air-monitoring instruments, bonding and grounding devices, alarms and sprinkler systems, and portable fire extinguishers.
Maintain a process for conducting a risk assessment for machine guarding to ensure that the performance of safety controls for newly acquired machinery is proportional to the risks as determined by use of the risk graph provided in ISO's Safety of Machinery standard.
Establish, implement, and maintain a written Hazardous Energy Control Program to protect personnel from unexpected startup, dangerous movement of machinery or equipment during service, maintenance, cleaning, or repair.
Establish, implement, and maintain appropriate electrical safe work practices in accordance with local requirements to utilize insulated tools and require electrical personal protective equipment based on the electrical hazards and risks at the facility.
Lead a Fall Prevention Site Assessment to identify the potential slip, trip and fall hazards of the facility, and to evaluate the risks associated with the identified hazards and create Establish, implement, and maintain a written Permit-to-Work system - formally authorized, proficient, and suitably trained to issue work permits such as hot work, electrical, work at heights, confined spaces.
Establish, implement, and maintain a written Confined Space Entry Program (CSEP) and a facility-wide survey to identify and inventory all confined spaces including establishing, implementing, and maintaining a formal rescue plan for each Permit Required Confined Space (PRCS) entry. Establish, implement, and maintain a formal rescue plan to deal with non-routine working at heights situations.
Act as an Alternate Incident Commander on the ERT; Develop, implement, and maintain an upto-date emergency response plan based on the outcomes of the risk assessments to minimize the potential effects of an accident or emergency on human health, the environment, and the business, both on and off site.
Lead simulations to evaluate the proficiency of on-site emergency responders and training for capacitation.
Active participation with Human Resources and Occupational Health for Medical Case Management Process to ensure accurate response and recordkeeping requirements are met.
Assists with the development of an approach to safety, occupational health, and ergonomic issues with regulatory requirements and J&J Standards.
Coordinates and performs internal audits periodically to assess systems/process efficiency
As requested, lead EHS Integrated Owners of Safety Systems (IOSS) team. Coordinates meetings and assures team's efficiency.
Attend annual HAZWOPER, RCRA and DOT/IATA as required.
Follow all environmental, safety and occupational health policies (i.e., ISO14001 & ISO 45001)
Qualifications / Requirements:
A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree is required. A Master's Degree is preferred.
A minimum of six (6) years related experience in Medical Devices & Diagnostics Pharmaceutical and/or Consumer industry is required.
Administrative (supervision) experience is preferred
Availability to work various schedules, which may include 1st, 2nd, 3rd shifts and/or 12-hour daily shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Fully bilingual, speaks and write in English and Spanish
Good oral and written communication skills
Able to walk constantly around the facilities

Job Summary
The Puerto Rico EHS Manager will report to the Southeast Regional EHS Director. This position is responsible for developing and implementing EHS solutions in support of Cardinal Health operations at the Guaynabo Operation in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico as well as the Anasco Manufacturing Operation. Responsibilities / Competencies
Leadership and Consulting - 35%
Assists with implementation of the global EHS strategy to mitigate risk to people, property, community, information and brand. Partners with operation leaders to develop and execute site-specific annual EHS plans; standardize EHS programs; ensure critical information is communicated; and implement best practices. Provides support and subject matter expertise for events (e.g., regulatory agency inquiries, natural disasters, business continuity, significant incidents, etc.).
Hazard Recognition, Evaluation and Control / Regulatory Compliance - 30%
Leads in the management of operation specific EHS hazard assessments and the development of risk mitigation plans. Partners with operation leaders to ensure compliance with Company and regulatory requirements. Analyzes key EHS metrics to assist operations in the construction and execution of continual improvement plans. Identifies budgetary needs to address risk reduction and compliance assurance. Ensures key performance metrics, including occupational injury/illness and environmental sustainability results are accurately reported and communicated. Develops and maintains facility profiles. Assists with the response to regulatory agency inquiries and reporting obligations. Participates in assessments and audits. Assist management teams in the investigation, notification and case management for occupational injury/illnesses.
