As a Safety Specialist I, you will report to Project Safety Manager. Your primary responsibilities centers on the successful implementation and support of the Site Specific Safety Plan in the field. You will assist the Project Safety Manager with the application of the contract, client safety expectations, Kiewit's Corporate Safety Manual, Corporate Crane Procedures Manual, District Standards, and all laws governing the work. You will also verify to ensure that work is being executed as planned, problem-solve with operations and craft, assist with corrective measures, and provide resources to correct and maintain solutions.

Kiewit Offshore Services, a district (or business unit) of Kiewit Corporation that builds structurally complex jackets and topsides for offshore oil drilling rigs. Located in Ingleside, TX, 20 minutes outside of Corpus Christi, the 550-acre fabrication yard is the workplace of 300 staff employees and 1400 craft employees who work in the yard year-round. **Location**
This position is located at Kiewit Offshore Services (KOS) headquarters in Ingleside, TX.
**Responsibilities**
+ Exercise Stop Work Responsibility to ensure adherence to company policies, regulations, work plans, work packs, and detailed work plans
+ Plan, prioritize, and problem-solve with operations in the field every day based on leading indicator trends and upcoming work
+ Encourage, support, inspire, and advise staff and craft employees to execute the safety plans
+ Assist with maintaining project files in compliance with OSHA/MSHA regulations and in compliance with our policies including accident/injury files
+ Assist with incident investigations and implementation of effective solutions
+ Complete a daily documented hazard inspection and assist operations, craft, and subcontractors with implementation of corrective actions
+ Review work plans, work packs, and detailed work plans prior to the start of work
+ Assist and provide safety training on policies, procedures, OSHA/MSHA, NCCER, SIMS, orientation, and client specific requirements
**Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's degree in Health, Safety, Environmental, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field
+ Knowledge of construction safety, current Federal and OSHA requirements
+ 0-2 years of previous construction safety experience, in particular with training coordination
+ Working knowledge of computers and experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
+ Strong organizational and time management skills
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills
+ Good attention to detail, with the ability to recognize discrepancies
+ Strong work ethic - Willing to do what it takes to get the job done

Conduct safety leadership training for managers, supervisors and specialists on a biweekly, monthly and annual basis.
Manage incident investigations, worker's compensation claims, evaluate trends and collaborate with process owners, engineers and/or physicians to institute tangible corrective actions.
Conduct EHS compliance audits to verify continued compliance with company and regulatory compliance.
Identify and utilize technology products to aid in injury reduction and provide a safe work environment.
Assist with capex projects to ensure proper ROIs, contractors meet safety standards, and equipment/projects do not create unintended consequences.
Participate in project management to ensure new equipment, layouts and other improvements meet safety and 5S standards.
Provide feedback and recommendations for systems, processes and tools that may benefit the company.
Coordinate a structured new hire orientation and onboarding programs that integrate safety protocols and ensure all new employees are educated on job-specific safety equipment and procedures.
Provide HR administrative support, including recruiting, coordinating onsite interviews, assistance with timecards and payroll, onboarding of new employees, escalating incidents to appropriate HR support, and offboarding employees.
Oversee site level compliance for inspections on equipment and manage third party inspection requirements.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

* Develop complete understanding of contract plans and specifications.
* Responsible for overseeing incident investigations reporting and follow through with corrective actions
* Work closely with the facility safety manager to develop and implement leading indicator action plans
* Manage and lead at team of 3-7 safety coordinators and techs.
* Interact with demanding clients and maintain a positive relationships with the client team
* Routinely inspect the facilities, machinery, and safety equipment in order to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety regulation compliance.
* Routinely monitor the workforce for unsafe behaviors and coach employees on the correct behaviors when observed.
* Write, organize and implement the jobsite safety plans.
* Perform daily reviews and inspection of the jobsite to assure compliance with federal, provincial, client and KOS policies.
