Responsibilities
Manage and administer the Injury & Illness Prevention Program to ensure compliance with state OSHA programs, MSHA and DOT regulations among ready-mix, aggregate and transportation divisions
Conduct OSHA 10-hour and 30-hour training for employees, supervisors and managers
Perform and document site inspections, employee safety meetings, new hire safety orientations, job hazard analysis and monthly safety committee meetings
Assist with incident and injury prevention investigations
Oversee and attend MSHA inspections, review citations, close out conferences and litigation of citations
Perform filing of MSHA quarterly reports, notice of injury, return-to-duty in timely manner
Ensure compliance with Title 30 CFR and assist with the development and administration of Part 46
Investigate motor vehicle accidents and incidents
Prepare safety reports for management outlining trends for motor vehicle accidents, near misses, first aid injuries, and medically treated injuries
Manage OSHA & DOT recordkeeping and reporting
Oversee annual chemical inventory at each plant location and assist in maintaining Safety Data Sheets
Conduct internal onsite inspections to ensure safety and health requirements are maintained in accordance to state and federal regulations and company safety policies and programs
Train employees and supervisors in best safety practices, policies and procedures
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Safety or equivalent preferred

POSITION SUMMARY
The Project Safety Professional's primary responsibility is to support the project team in the implementation of Nibbi's Environmental Health & Safety program. Some travel is required between projects. Currently, all Nibbi projects are in the SF Bay Area. This position reports to the Safety Field Operations Manager.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Lead in promoting Nibbi's safety culture.
Assist project teams in monitoring all safety issues and concerns, and ensure Nibbi's standards of safety are adhered to.
Verify all work is performed in compliance with Nibbi's EH&S program and contract safety specifications.
Independently manage multiple projects and deadlines, producing complete and accurate results on time.
Support project teams in the monitoring of subcontractor safety performance.
Conduct regular jobsite and work area inspections, noting safety violations and corrective actions.
Thoroughly investigate all incidents (including near miss, injury, property damage, general liability) immediately and perform root cause analysis.
Procure Cal/OSHA project permits for assigned projects.
Ensure all safety paperwork is completed for assigned projects.
Coach tradespeople, junior safety members, and project team.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist project teams in identifying hazards and implementing controls.
Immediately address safety violations at jobsite(s).
Assist project Superintendents to establish, implement, and monitor jobsite emergency action plans.

QUALIFICATIONS
Safety professional with 5 years' experience in construction preferred, but willing to consider a candidate with the right combination of construction experience and safety education. Candidates should have a strong understanding and knowledge of the construction industry and jobsite safety requirements, including health and safety hazards, and hazard control. Key competencies are communication (written and verbal), teamwork, initiative, and dependability.
Technical Skills: MS Office Suite, Outlook, ProCore. Construction Health Safety Technician (CHST) certification preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* On a project- or area-specific basis, inspects facilities and mobile equipment to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards and recommends and follows up on corrective or preventative measures where necessary. Occasional travel required.
* Engages employees in the preparation and implementation of Accident Hazard Analyses ("AHA"), enforce all safety rules and policies, and provide recommendations to Project Managers/Superintendents/Division Managers for corrective or disciplinary actions.
* Conducts daily and weekly safety meetings and assists the Safety Manager with coordinating and implementing safety program training and testing.
* Keeps managers and employees alerted as to the hazards of working with toxic fumes, dangerous chemicals and any other hazardous substances.
* Investigates accidents and injuries and cooperates in the preparation of materials and evidence for the organization's use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance claims.
* Works with the Safety Manager to administer the company's workers' compensation program, including working with the insurance carrier to cut down on lost employee time and reduce unjust claims.
* Coordinate pre-hire and random drug testing in field.
* Performs Field Hazardous Materials Audits in preparation of County Hazmat business plan inspections.
* Maintains field safety records.
* Assists project managers with field JHAs, safety plans, and procurement of safety equipment and repairs.
* Travel to remote project sites, often for extended periods of time.

Safety specialist job in Fairfield, CA
EVS Site Safety & Health Officer, Level 2 (L2 SSHO) Dedicated safety lead for EVS operations, ensuring that all cleaning activities-from chemical handling to equipment operation-adhere to EM 385-1-1 variances, OSHA HCS, and CA-specific safety codes. Works closely with the L1 SSHO to integrate EVS-specific hazards into the overall Site Safety & Health Plan.
Tasks and Capabilities Required:
* Hazard Analysis: Conduct EVS-focused JSAs/JHAs for chemical use, bloodborne pathogen cleanup, and equipment operation (e.g., floor scrubbers, steam cleaning).
* Safety Training: Deliver specialized training on SDS interpretation, HAZWOPER bloodborne pathogen protocols, and PPE donning/doffing.
* Monitoring & Audits: Perform regular inspections of chemical storage areas and cleaning-equipment maintenance logs; track and close safety findings.
* Incident Investigation: Lead investigations for any EVS-related incidents; recommend engineering or administrative controls to prevent recurrence.
* Record Keeping: Maintain training rosters, incident logs, and equipment inspection records in compliance with OSHA and EM 385-1-1.
Mandatory Experience and Certifications:
* OSHA 30-hour card.
* At least five (5) years of safety oversight experience in a healthcare or industrial cleaning environment.
* Eight (8) hours of annual refresher SOH training specific to EVS hazards.
Preferred/Desired Certifications:
* Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST)
* HAZWOPER 40-hour
* Bloodborne Pathogens Instructor Certification
Special Qualifications/Requirements:
* Must be able to successfully pass, as required, a federal, state, or local government's background investigation
