MPH, CSP, CIH, and/or management systems experience a plus Chemistry or engineering background 5+ years of experience developing and leading comprehensive and robust engineering or chemical laboratory EH&S programs and processes or other similar technical programs. Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, Connecticutand local regulations. Strong communication and influencing skills, action oriented, self starting, analytical and strategic thinking, relationship building, program development and project management skills, ability to operate in a complex environment, ability to effectively prioritize tasks. Expertise in these areas would be a plus: Implementing safety programs targeted to field operations in mining environments. Familiarity with “Mine Safety” programs and hazard risk assessments. Ability to provide requisite safe handling training to employees involved in the handling of industrial process chemicals and minerals processing (flotation separation). Industrial safety development for manufacturing processes- conducting safety/haz-op workshops around manufacturing processes including chemical storage, waste disposal, health/environment parameters. Strong SDS management skills and chemical laboratory experience. Responsibilities: Responsibility for Management, oversight, and administration of the facility EH&S program, including but not limited to, general compliance management, laboratory safety programs management, environmental programs management, risk management, incident management and prevention, occupational health, contractor and industrial safety programs, emergency management planning, metrics collection and communication. Advance CIDRA's EH&S Culture at the site. Identify improvement opportunities aimed at incident prevention, reducing risk, maintaining operational efficiency, and sustaining top EH&S performance. Maintain purposeful presence within research laboratories and operational areas. In accordance with internal processes, act as primary regulatory agency contact person. Ensure new processes or changes to established processes are effectively assessed to determine compliance and business impact. Partner with site leadership on effective EH&S and prevention initiatives and implementation strategies. Develop systems to assure the site's compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Maintain permits/licenses/registrations and associated conditions to ensure sustained compliance. Understand & implement CiDRA's EH&S Management Systems processes. Manage laboratory safety programs and processes, ensuring general compliance oversight, chemical safety, radiation safety, and biological safety program oversight from tactical compliance to management systems aspects. Support CiDRA's Environmental Sustainability efforts such as compiling and reporting environmental metrics, identifying sustainability initiatives, participating in environmental promotion activities, and others. Manage the EH&S training program including performing required training for staff, and contractors on applicable EH&S programs and processes and tracking completion status at multiple sites. Partner with other site operations functions to ensure sustainable compliance and transparency with research staff. The Enforcement Staff Supervisor reports to the Program Supervisor, and works closely with the Consultation and Enforcement/Whistleblower Staff Supervisors. Your Potential Duties: * Primary duty will be to conduct safety and health inspections in public sector workplaces to prevent work-related injury and illness, promote compliance with OSHA regulations, and coach employers to implement safety management systems. * Perform duties of staff supervisor with 4-12 inspection staff reporting to you. Some of the daily operational duties include: * Assign new cases according to WSHP strategic plan. * Provide technical assistance to inspectors on accident investigations involving electric shock, machine guarding, amputation, and work zones. * Ensure that complaints filed by employees about safety conditions at their workplace are handled promptly according to program procedures. * Review inspection reports and Civil Citations for technical accuracy, compliance with OSHA standards, and consistency with DLS format. * When applicable, perform mathematical computations used by industrial hygienists and safety professionals to evaluate occupational hazards. * Provide inspectors with technical assistance for fatality inspections. * Audit inspector case files for proper documentation. * Track performance metrics, including response times and proof that violations are corrected. * Compile program statistics from WSHP database. * Assist the State Plan Program Supervisor with monthly and quarterly reports. * Develop new policies and procedures for approval by persons of a higher grade.     Safety specialist job in New Haven, CT

    The Safety Coordinator will report directly to the Safety Manager as well as the senior management team along with the Project Manager of a given project. The position encompasses a variety of responsibilities relating to project management, strategic planning, and client customer service. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: SAFETY COORDINATOR Develop A/Z's project specific Job Hazard Analysis (JHA). Conduct regular (daily) job site and work area inspections and safety observations on a specific project, throughout the Eastern Region or specific projects outside the region with select overnight travel. Provide project specific training as a result of audits. Develop A/Z's and reviews Subcontractors project specific plans for high risk activities like Confined Space Entry, List Plans and any other project tasks that warrant individual plans to ensure safe execution. Provide daily report detailing health and safety issues of the day utilizing Predictive Solutions software; attend meetings with the Project Manager if necessary. Provide safety training to site personnel for compliance with A/Z and contract requirements if necessary. Review Subcontractor's Health and Safety Plans and activity specific Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) to ensure conformance with A/Z Policies and contract documents. Identifying known/potential health and safety issues related to construction related field activities and recommending corrective actions. Communicate well with clients, A/Z personnel and Subcontractors. Develop good working relationships with client EH&S representatives insuring continued open communication with individual clients. Excellent writing and organizational skills. Performance of the required duties will require physical ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs, ability to climb ladders and negotiate work areas under construction. While performing the duties of this job, regularly working at various construction locations where there may be exposure to confined spaces, moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. Thorough knowledge of OSHA, federal, state, and local regulations. Other duties assigned as necessary. A/Z Corporation is an AA/EOE Employer

What YOU Need to Succeed Previous experience in transportation/trucking. Strong interest in safety. Relationship-building skills to forge personal connections with customers, vendors, employees, and truck drivers. Spanish language proficiency Ability to travel to customer locations, job sites, PGT terminals, and other driver rest areas.
