RESPONSIBILITIES: + Provides technical support of routine operations, project work, major maintenance or construction support, and emergency response to ensure worker safety throughout the planning and execution phases of work.

+ Develops and presents training material related to a variety of safety topics in collaboration with Operations and Learning Development departments.
+ Provides subject matter expertise for assigned programs, which may include providing input as a competent person for fall protection and excavation safety, support during Life Critical work and input on other regulatory programs.
+ Develops safety related communications for inclusion into shift starter meetings, safety meetings, notices, and bulletins.
+ Supporting the facility as a technical resource for safety issues including interpretation of standards and regulations, accident/incident investigations, and maintenance turnaround support.
+ Project, TAR and Outage support as well as rotational weekend duty as required.
+ Developing, coordinating, and presenting various Safety/IH training courses to refinery personnel.
+ Engaging in project related work by participating in the review and approval of plan development, Management of Change (MOC and PMOC) reviews and project safety plans.
+ Conducting Contractor Field Performance Audits and meeting with contractors to communicate safety expectations and help them meet the Company expectations.
+ Ensuring OSHA regulatory compliance.
+ Providing guidance, interpretations, and technical assistance related to safety and health issues.
+ Supporting the facility's emergency response and air monitoring team efforts.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
+ High school diploma or GED required with 6 years of relevant experience, or Bachelor's degree with 4 years of relevant experience
+ Must be familiar with OSHA standards.
+ Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products, SharePoint and competent with PowerBI.
+ ASP or GSP and/or track for CIH certification is preferred.
+ A valid driver's license is required.

Job Description
The Safety Specialist assists in monitoring and coordinating safety program, including safety inspections, accident investigations, and safety training.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties and responsibilities of this position shall consist of, but not be limited to, the following:
Develops, implements maintain safety programs such as lockout/tagout, machine guarding, fire protection, powered industrial vehicles, and other OSHA safety compliance programs.

Interpret and apply occupational health and safety regulations to daily operations, considering each project's unique variables.
Lead and oversee Bay West's Respiratory Protection Program, including monthly inspections of SCBAs and SARs.
Provide expertise in Permit-Required Confined Space (PRCS) operations, including IDLH conditions and proper ventilation of the PRCS.
Support compliance with DOT regulations.
Maintain accurate OSHA 300 records and ensure all safety documentation meets regulatory standards.

Administer the company's Learning Management System (LMS), supporting training delivery, recordkeeping, and program development.
Oversee internal training programs, including employee progress tracking, enrollment, coordination with training providers, and in-house instruction.
Develop, revise, and deliver Safety Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), corporate health and safety manual updates, and new training content.
Incident and Claims Management

Safety Coordinator (Industrial Construction)
Safety specialist job in Saint Paul, MN
Dennis Group Safety Professionals assist in the development, management, and implementation of a Health and Safety Program for all of Dennis Group's projects. Our projects are vertical, industrial construction projects involving multiple engineering disciplines and sub-contractor trades. Our Safety Professionals will be responsible for the safety practices of all personnel on our projects. This position requires knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety management, accident investigation and training in the construction industry. The Professional will be a member of our safety department and his/her responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
Safety Responsibilities:
* Assist in developing and implementing health and safety program.
* Assist in developing, implementing, and coordinating health and safety training and activities.
* Must be familiar with federal, state and local safety laws to ensure the organization complies with all current safety regulations.
* Prepare and deliver safety toolbox talks and safety training topics for contractors
* Prepare, implement and enforce Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and safe work permits
* Attend and prepare safety actions for pre-construction conferences, pre-work meetings including inspection meetings, and periodic in-progress project meetings.
* Conduct and document Jobsite Safety Observations
* Work with Construction Managers and Safety Managers to establish job site safety procedures and policies during initial project mobilization and as needed during the project.
* Research construction safety best practices
* Educate and support all levels of project personnel on accident/injury prevention procedures.
Accidents Responsibilities:
* Investigate accidents, determine "root causes", and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
* Prepare and distribute data reports of accident and incident metrics
Required Education Skills and Experience
* OSHA 500 and construction safety experience is required.
* 3-5 years of work experience on construction projects (required)
* 1-3 years of work experience in developing, implementing, and coordinating health and safety training and activities for construction projects
* 1-3 years of work experience in performing construction job site safety inspections and conducting special studies and investigations related to safety and health for the company
* OSHA training certification required.
* Ability to travel to job sites throughout North America as required. Travel is estimated to be 75%+, unless stationed on a jobsite (first 3 months of employment - training).
* Proficient in MS Windows, Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
* Sound judgment and independent decision making required.
* Self-starter, strong interpersonal skills required, and excellent written and verbal communication skills
Physical Requirements
* Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer and prolonged periods of standing and walking around project site with uneven surfaces.
* Must be able to traverse and inspect all areas of jobsite in all types of weather; this may include walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching.
* Exposure to characteristic construction site dangers.
* Must be on-call to address delays, emergencies, bad weather, and other issues at the jobsite.
* Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
Travel Requirement
Our projects are located throughout the United States and Canada. Ability to travel to job sites throughout North America as required. Travel is estimated to be 75%+, unless stationed on a jobsite (first 6 months of employment - training).
