Essential Functions
Perform ongoing site visits to observe and document safety behaviors and work conditions to ensure a safety focus throughout all phases of electric construction projects
Coordinate with Operations teams to create site-specific safety plans; actively participate in safety meetings to review job hazard analysis and hazard recognition tools
Participate in project kick off and progress meetings
Supporting client-specific safety requirements programs and ensure alignment and compliance between client expectations, company rules, and applicable safety regulations
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to environmental protection or occupational health and safety
Coach and mentor project site personnel regarding safety practices and behaviors on an ongoing basis
Conduct proactive behavior-based and quality-focused field safety observations and PPE hazard assessments
Partner with Safety, Safety Training & Operations teams to schedule or facilitate required employee trainings: New hire orientation, OSHA ETD Quarterly refresher training, Customer required training, Post-incident training as part of a Corrective Action Plan, and Participate in site-specific safety planning.
Conduct accident/injury investigations including root cause analyses
Provide support to Operations organization for incident case management and documentation steps
Follow-up with Operations organization to ensure completion of corrective actions for all accidents and incidents
Support company safety committees by assisting in assessment of safety performance trends, implementing process, and tool improvements
Regular and predictable attendance
Other duties as assigned

About You:
Qualifications (Level I)
Minimum 2 years of experience in environmental, health, and safety (EHS) field roles is required
High school diploma or GED equivalent is required

Primary Function:
Under limited supervision, the Safety Specialist will be providing front line support for our Health, Safety, and Environmental program for your assigned facility. This role will require a high level of engagement and initiative. You will be monitoring the facility for emerging issues and risks and ensuring they are addressed. The position will report to the Quality & HSE Manager but will also take direction from the Corporate Safety Professional who has responsibility for the HSE program at all facilities.
Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:
Begins the shift on the production floor, aligning with the teams and participating in pre-task plans and stretch and flex, ensuring teams understand the risks and have what they need to work safely. (Upwards of 80% of the job is spent on the production floor observing, performing audits, and interacting with the employees).
Monitor the sites for compliance with applicable health, safety, and environmental legal requirements and take appropriate steps to ensure compliance.
Perform near-miss and incident investigations (injury or property damage), lead root-cause analysis, and develop corrective actions.
Identify, document, and recommend resolutions for unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and employee safety suggestions; follow through to ensure corrections and or improvements have been made.
Lead the first aid and emergency response activities for assigned facility and provides care for injured employees as needed.
Conduct new hire orientation and required training classes.
Continuously educate, coach, and mentor employees on Safety.
Conduct safety briefs with all contactors or subcontractors who will be working at a Maverick Power facility to ensure they understand our safety requirements.
Compile safety data, photographs, etc.; prepare all appropriate forms and reports per program procedures, company policy, and federal, state, and local accident regulations.
Ensure all daily, quarterly, and annual inspections are completed. (PPE, Equipment, tools, fire extinguishers, sprinklers, fall protection, assured grounding, etc.)
Support crisis management and emergency action plans as required.
Lead emergency preparedness drills (fire & severe weather).
Document findings, compile information, create detailed reports, analyze data, and track progress. Maintain files and records for long-term storage.
Participate in meetings to represent Safety and identify training opportunities and upcoming high-risk work.
Participate in New Product Introductions and kickoff meetings to identify and address any safety concerns prior to beginning a project.
May perform and record HSE testing and sampling utilizing tools like a dosimeter, light meter, multi-gas meter, etc.
Must be willing to travel to and support other local Maverick Power facilities as needed.

Required Education & Skills/Abilities:
Associates Degree in HSE (or related field) or 3+ year of equivalent demonstrated experience.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to remain professional and calm in stressful situations.
Ability to immediately correct unsafe acts and unsafe conditions with all levels of employees.
Native Proficiency or Full Professional Proficiency in English (speaking, reading, and writing).
Detailed knowledge of HSE regulatory requirements – OSHA general industry and construction.
3+ years of experience working full-time in a Safety position in a Manufacturing/Assembly environment – Required (may substitute manufacturing/assembly experience for data center construction experience).
3+ years of experience providing health & safety training to employees, visitors, and contractors and maintaining such records
3+ years of experience performing hazard/risk assessments.
3+ years of experience performing Near-Miss & Incident Investigations and Root-Cause Analysis with Correct Actions and sharing lessons learned.
Proficient in working in Office 365 programs (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint).
Preferred Education, Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Safety (HSE) and 3+ years of hands-on experience
Board Certified Safety Professional Certifications (ASP, CSP, OHST, etc. or equivalent)
Electrical Safety – Control of Hazardous Energy – NAPF 70 E
1+ year of construction site safety experience
Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certification
Proficiency in Vietnamese and or Spanish desired, but not required
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting, standing, walking, and performing repetitive tasks.
Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at a time.
Work Location: 2 positions 1 in McKinney, TX, 1 in Garland, TX; Regular travel may be required between the 3 Texas facilities that are all located within a 23-mile radius to support safety initiatives or incidents.
