The Safety Specialist is responsible for developing and implementing health and safety plans, enforcing policies, and evaluating practices and facilities to ensure compliance with legal regulations. This position will also conduct training sessions, investigate incidents, lead site execution of the corporate/segment safety strategy and provide recommendations for improvement ensuring clear, tactful, concise communication flows upwards and downwards throughout the organization and will work closely with Manufacturing, Logistics and Quality to find solutions that are both practical and sustainable. Role & Responsibilities
Plans, implements, manages, and maintains comprehensive safety & health programs in conformance with plant rules, safety standards and company policies; Conducting safety meetings, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance, identify corrective action, and implement follow-up assessments.
Collaborates with management during internal and external audits and inspections of the workplace to ensure teammates are safe in their operations and surrounding environment; prepares notices for management to issue for abatement of any identified hazards.
Effectively communicates to convey ideas and information to others while providing coaching, teaching, and mentoring to teammates / visitors / contractors through regular, visible, on-site presence.
Serves as the primary contact for site injury and incident notification, investigation, and case management; responsible for administration of first aid for minor injuries and transportation of teammates requiring emergency/non-emergency medical treatment.
Records all incident / near miss reports timely, in a complete and accurate manner, in the Safe-ty Management System (SMS); Manages workers' compensation claims, overseeing documentation processes and collaborating with relevant stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate resolution.
Maintains a written log of safety inspection activities, reports, investigations, and related correspondence and properly post and report claims for injuries and illnesses in accordance with the regulations set forth by the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA).
Develops, implements, and updates site-specific emergency response plans as necessary co-ordinates the on-site Hearing Conservation and Pulmonary Function testing and site-specific activities for contractor safety management program supporting efforts to ensure contractors adhere to safety procedures and policies while working on site.
Develops, implements, maintains and updates site-specific SOP's (Standard Operating Procedures), guidelines and policies at the plant.
Provides leadership to both the STRONG and Joint Safety and Health Committees through active participation and regular meetings attendance.
Analyzes safety data to identify trends, areas of concern, and opportunities for improvement. Provides regular communication to site leadership on safety performance metrics.
Administers safety recognition systems to promote safe and healthy work performance by all teammates.
Other duties may be required and will be assigned as necessary.
Must be able to pass pre-employment screening which may include a physical, background check, and drug screen.
Bachelors Degree preferred, but not required.
Ability, Skills, and Knowledge
Understanding of safety principles and regulatory compliance requirements, with the ability to gain certifications in First Aid, CPR, DOT, OSHA and MSHA Part 48/46, and RCRA.
Knowledge of auditing and inspection expectations with regulators / agencies.
Knowledge of engineering calculations for permitting, reporting, compliance and to support project goals.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites with accurate data entry skills.
Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing, while building rapport with team members and external agencies.
High level of integrity and commitment to comply with all applicable federal / state / industry compliance, record keeping, regulations and standards.

Job Summary:
The primary purpose of the Safety Manager is to provide technical expertise and support in the development and implementation of the Safety Management System for the NTI Organization. Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Help maintain and continuously improve all elements within the Safety Management System.

Assist and / or lead the incident analysis process for injuries and significant near hit events and manage the resulting corrective actions.
Serve as the primary point of contact for external agencies such as fire departments, health departments, and regulatory bodies.
Educate workers on safety compliance and safe work practices through training and coaching.
Maintain safety documentation including training records, audit records, incident reports and other compliance related items.
Develop and maintain emergency response plans and ensure employees are familiar with these procedures.
Perform routine audits of job sites, facilities, equipment, procedures, and standards of work.
Assist with development and review of Site-Specific Safety Plans and customer specific guidelines.
Perform behavioral based safety observations on a regular basis per NTI procedures.
Work closely with operations managers, project managers, and other relevant staff to integrate safety practices into project planning and execution.
Interface with field leaders regularly to ensure safe work practices and protocols are understood and adhered to in the field.
Interface with customers as needed to demonstrate support for NTI's safety program and culture.
Support the Training team to ensure safety is integrated into all technical and hands-on training.
Create and / or update documented risk assessments / JHA's as new scopes of work or new risks are identified.
Facilitate employee safety recognition programs to promote a culture of safety.
Assist with managing workers compensation and Return to Work Programs as needed.
Expected to seek opportunities for continuous improvement.
Manage local direct reports and act as mentor for professional development of other safety professionals.
Perform other project-related safety duties as needed.
Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proficient in using safety management software and tools, including Microsoft Office.
Understanding of federal, state and local safety requirements, including OSHA.
