Safety Specialist Support: EXPERIENCE: • 0-5 Years of experience in a related field or industrial setting is preferred. • Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, industrial hygiene, environmental, health, science, or a related field is preferred. • Additional certifications are preferred. RESPONSIBILITIES: The Safety Specialist Support Representative plays a critical role in ensuring workplace safety, compliance with safety regulations, and the development of safety programs within an organization. They are responsible for identifying and mitigating potential safety hazards, conducting training, and promoting a culture of safety. This position will work under the direction of the Safety Specialist and support this role in the proper management of all safety related programs. Incident Prevention and Response * Respond to and assist in the investigation of any accidents, incidents, or near misses; gather documentation and prepare initial reports. * Participate in root cause analyses and recommend preventive actions. * Support emergency preparedness drills and ensure first-aid and rescue equipment are available and maintained. Documentation and Reporting * Maintain accurate safety records, including inspection logs, training attendance, incident reports, and corrective action tracking. * Prepare and submit daily or weekly safety reports to the Safety Manager. * Ensure that all safety documentation complies with company and client requirements. Collaboration and Leadership * Work closely with the Safety Manager, Project Superintendent, and Construction Managers to integrate safety into project planning and execution. * Mentor and guide craft personnel on safe work practices and compliance expectations. * Represent the safety department in coordination meetings and client walkthroughs when requested. Minimum Qualifications Education & Experience * Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in construction safety, preferably on heavy industrial or large-scale infrastructure projects. * Experience in steel mill, refinery, or manufacturing construction is strongly preferred. * OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification required. * First Aid/CPR certification required. * CHST, STS, or equivalent professional safety credential preferred. Knowledge & Skills * Thorough understanding of OSHA standards, LOTO, fall protection, confined space entry, hot work, and crane/rigging operations. * Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to communicate safety expectations effectively across all levels of the workforce. * Competent with Microsoft Office Suite and safety management systems for documentation and reporting. * Ability to work independently in field conditions and adapt to a dynamic construction environment. Work Environment * Field-based position on a new steel mill construction site. * Frequent exposure to outdoor weather conditions, construction noise, dust, and heavy machinery. * Must be able to stand, walk, climb ladders, and wear required PPE for extended periods. The Corporate Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the company's safety programs across multiple branch locations within an industrial cleaning and environmental services organization. This role ensures all operations-both in the field and in-office-are compliant with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and company safety standards. The Corporate Safety Manager will split time approximately 50% in the field at jobsites and 50% at the corporate office conducting audits, training, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives. Key Responsibilities Safety Leadership & Program Management Develop, implement, and maintain company-wide safety policies, procedures, and training programs. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations. Review and update safety programs to adapt to changing regulations, technologies, and operational needs. Lead root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions for incident investigations. Field & Jobsite Oversight Conduct regular field visits to job sites across all branches to perform audits, hazard assessments, and safety evaluations. Ensure field crews are following safe work practices, utilizing proper PPE, and operating equipment safely. Provide on-site coaching, mentorship, and training to supervisors and technicians. Support job planning for high-risk projects, including confined space entry, vacuum truck operations, hazardous material handling, and industrial cleaning tasks. Branch Support & Collaboration Work closely with branch managers, project managers, and field supervisors to promote a strong safety culture. Deliver safety training sessions, toolbox talks, and new-hire safety orientations. Support pre-qualification processes for clients requiring safety documentation and audit data. Reporting & Compliance Track and analyze safety metrics (TRIR, near misses, leading indicators, training records, etc.). Prepare and deliver regular safety performance reports to leadership. Maintain all regulatory documentation, permits, and training certifications. Coordinate annual audits, compliance inspections, and emergency response planning. Qualifications Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Management, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience). 5-7+ years of safety experience in industrial cleaning, environmental services, construction, industrial maintenance, or a similar high-risk industry. Experience managing safety across multiple branches or remote teams strongly preferred. Certifications (Preferred but not Required) OSHA 30 (required) CSP, CHST, or other safety certifications preferred HAZWOPER 40 First Aid/CPR Instructor certification a plus Skills & Competencies Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and industry-specific regulations. Excellent communication, training, and presentation skills. Ability to build trust and strong working relationships in both field and corporate environments. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. Ability to travel frequently and work in industrial field conditions. Physical Requirements Ability to work in industrial environments, including confined spaces, elevated areas, and around heavy equipment. Ability to wear necessary PPE, including respirators, as required. Must be able to stand, walk, climb, and carry equipment during jobsite visits. Must be able to pass a drug test and background check with no felony/misdemeanor charges within the last 7 years.
