    The Safety & PSM Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing all occupational health, safety, environmental, and process safety management (PSM) programs to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and applicable state and local regulations. This position leads the facility's efforts to create a proactive safety culture focused on risk reduction, employee engagement, and regulatory compliance, particularly around ammonia refrigeration systems and other covered processes. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesDevelop, implement, and maintain safety policies, procedures, and training programs in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (OSHA, EPA, NFPA, etc.). Serve as the PSM/RMP program owner for the facility, ensuring compliance with all 14 elements of OSHA 29 CFR 1910.119. Conduct and coordinate hazard analyses (PHA, JHA, MOC, PSSR, etc.) and ensure corrective actions are implemented and tracked. Manage incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action plans. Maintain and update PSM documentation, including mechanical integrity programs, operating procedures, and training records. Oversee contractor safety and permit-to-work systems for hot work, confined space entry, and line breaking. Develop and monitor leading and lagging safety performance metrics; prepare and present reports to management. Ensure proper employee training in safety procedures, emergency response, and regulatory compliance topics. Coordinate with maintenance, production, and engineering to ensure safe work practices during system changes and maintenance. Serve as site contact for regulatory inspections and audits. Lead emergency response planning and drills, including ammonia release scenarios. Promote a proactive safety culture through employee engagement, recognition programs, and continuous improvement initiatives. QualificationsEducation: Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field preferred. Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial safety, preferably in food manufacturing or processing with ammonia refrigeration systems. What You'll Bring Required: * Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in field safety or a related role, preferably in construction, utilities, or industrial environments. * Strong working knowledge of OSHA standards, DOT regulations, and other applicable safety laws and best practices. * Proven ability to conduct incident investigations and support root cause analysis. * Experience delivering safety training programs (ex. First Aid/CPR/AED). * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and coach field teams. * Ability to work independently in dynamic field environments and manage multiple priorities. * Proficiency in safety documentation, reporting, and compliance tracking. * Familiarity with Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and hazardous materials handling. * Valid driver's license and willingness to travel extensively within assigned regions. * Safety certifications such as CUSP, CHST, ASP or CSP preferred or willingness to obtain. * OSHA 500 trainer instructor Certificate or willingness to obtain. Assigns Risk Assessment Codes to individual job/work orders and stops work if necessary to resolve matters that affect safety and/or inhibit the logical progress of work. Qualifications Minimum five (5) years of continuous construction industry safety experience in supervising/managing general construction, or Minimum five (5) years of continuous general industry safety experience in supervising/managing general industry Prefer experience working as a Safety Manager in a medical operations and maintenance environment Must have working experience with NFPA, OSHA codes and standards, TJC accreditation and EOC.
