The North American Food Safety Operations Launch Team ensures that all Amazon Distribution and Retail/Grocery Fulfillment sites meet safety criteria, regulatory requirements and brand standards for new site launches and existing site renovations. They collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders on design, permitting, launch, expansion and program development. Significant experience managing food safety and regulatory programs at the enterprise level in the retail food environment is a must. Key job responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and audit Retail Food Code Design standards for new and existing businesses
- Risk assess operational processes within the launch program to determine required food safety and compliance interventions, auditing mechanisms, and regulatory impacts of business models
- Partner cross-functionally (internally and externally) to launch new food sites on time and that meet food safety and compliance requirements
- Work with Legal to provide food safety and compliance direction to Operations, to meet standards and requirements

- Consult on policies, standards, and SOPs for food business processes and procedures. Update policies/standards/procedures to close operational food safety gaps

A day in the life
In this role, you will be driving on-time, successful launches of net-new business and expansions by ensuring food safety and compliance standards are met across Amazon's network of Distribution and Retail/Grocery Fulfillment sites. Your typical day will be leveraging regulatory and food safety expertise to drive cross-functional solutions for site design, construction, fixtures, refrigeration, storage, training, product and transportation. You will engage with local health departments. You will create and monitor business metrics to track compliance and process effectiveness. This fast-paced role requires a balance of strategic thinking, technical skills and project management. This role travels up to 25%.

The North American Food Safety Operations Launch Team manages the launch and expansion of Amazon sites to drive compliance, mitigate risk, and support scalable business growth. We collaborate across stakeholder groups to ensure that new facilities and expansions can begin operations will all necessary food safety systems fully operational and compliant to regulatory requirements. Basic Qualifications
- Experience in program or project management
- Experience working proactively and independently, meeting deadlines, and delivering on projects and tasks
- Experience working effectively across cross-functional teams and partnering well with people at all levels within an organization
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science or a related field

Detailed Description:
* Serve as the CMEHSO for a project in Staten Island, NY, with the guidance and support of the Lead CMEHSO:
* Work closely with the Eastern Business Unit H&S Director, Resident Engineer (RE), Construction Manager (CM), and other applicable staff during all phases of the project to identify Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) concerns, offer suggestions on improvement and take action to implement solutions.
* Understand client's Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and be able to communicate requirements and identify non-compliance.
* Provide site specific safety orientations to BC team members and other applicable parties.
* Support the CM in preparation and implementation of CM JHAs.
* Collect and maintain project EHS metrics and provide trending analysis.
* Implement the requirements of the CM's EHS Management Plan (EHSMP) and Environmental Health and Safety Plan (EHASP)
* Review all EHS related submittals by the Contractors, including, but not limited to, EHASPs, JHAs, monthly reports, asbestos/lead/mercury/PCB management and sampling plans, waste management plans, hazardous waste contingency plans, erosion and sediment control plans, and Stormwater pollution prevention plans (SWPPP) to ensure comprehensive oversight of all site activities.
* Facilitate weekly EHS meetings with the Contractor's EHS Representative (EHSR), and other project management personnel as appropriate, to ascertain and discuss upcoming construction activity and EHS-related activities for the site to monitor that the Contractor is adequately identifying and addressing the EHS risks and hazards of the work.
* Perform and submit CMEHSO daily reports of the Contractors' Work activities and document non-compliance with the construction contractor's EHASPs and JHAs.
* Prepare monthly trending analysis of Contractor performance to proactively address Contractor's non-conformance and to be used for Contractor's EHS evaluations.
* Notify client, report, investigate, and provide root cause analysis for all "Observations", "Hazards Identifications" (Haz-IDs), "Incidents" and "Near Misses" through client's electronic project management information system (ePMIS).
* Oversee Emergency Action Plans (EAPs) and drills for the site in coordination with client's Operating Bureaus (when applicable).
* Submit EHS monthly status reports and metrics;
* Review and manage all EHS Annual Reports (i.e. EPCRA, Hazardous Waste, Confined Space);
* Participate in client's EHS Audits and OEHS EHS Assessments;
* Conduct EHS "OSHA 1910" inspections throughout the project lifecycle
* This position will also work closely with other program H&S staff and specialized Safety Partners to support internal tasks related to the continued growth and improvement of the overall company H&S program. These responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

The Health and Safety Specialist works in both Worker's Justice Project worker center locations in Williamsburg and Sunset Park (Brooklyn, NY). Compensation and Benefits

Along with Facilities Manager ensure that proper preventive maintenance is being done in all of our buildings by our Supers and Contractors. Ensure all preventative maintenance logs are current including, HVAC, fire systems, electrical, extermination, etc
Along with Facilities Manager obtain and review all elevators preventive maintenance logs with all Supers and all elevator service contractors. Ensure that we are 100% code compliant.
Develop a comprehensive building inspection schedule and protocol. Inspect all buildings semiannually with the Facilities Manager. Write reports and follow up as required
Encourage all Supers to register and attend the Super's Technical Club. Ensure all Supers obtain their NYCFD and other required Certificates.
Assist the Insurance Department as needed to ensure MVA and insurance and COVID protocols are all current

Support and reinforce NYCSBUS's safety culture through one-on-one and group employee training and coaching to bus drivers, attendants, mechanics and other employees

Identify and assist with pre- and post-trip inspections, working with Fleet Maintenance staff to ensure vehicle problems are corrected timely and initiating corrective action with employees for non-compliance.
Evaluate the performance of Drivers and Attendants by riding along on and following routes, providing guidance and instruction based on observations.
Develop and review safety and performance data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement. Present findings to the Director of Safety & Training as well as the impacted depot management teams.
Deliver first aid, CPR, OSHA, materials handling, fire safety and other training.
Empower employees by creating a culture that supports safe, consistent service.
Identify and Resolve Problems
Conduct or facilitate a comprehensive investigation process following vehicle collisions or employee workplace accidents, which may include an on-scene investigation. Conduct follow-up meetings with involved employees and/or witnesses. Either prepare or review reports completed by others to ensure completion and accuracy, and submit a comprehensive post-incident summary to NYCSBUS Leadership, and recommend corrective action where appropriate.
Conduct investigations of actual and potential hazards within our depots, shops and facilities.

Interface with school officials, support staff and paraeducators to investigate and resolve matters of concern regarding Driver or Attendant performance, and/or student conduct.
Keep Our Employees and Depots Compliant
Work in conjunction with the Safety Leadership to ensure that depots are compliant with safety standards and that employees are properly qualified to perform their jobs. Facilitate the gathering of requalification forms, answer employees questions, etc.
Facilitate the timely completion of random, post-accident and reasonable suspicion drug & alcohol testing.
Work with the facilities and fleet maintenance staff, ensure facilities and equipment are compliant with regulations, licensing and best practices for safety, licensure, emergency response and other compliance.
Provide Operational Support to the Depots and Bus Operations
Support the General Managers to ensure that daily depot operations are executed as designed, challenges are mitigated quickly and accurately, and service delivery is provided to stakeholders efficiently and consistently.
Work in conjunction with Safety Leadership and the depot management teams to perform other duties as assigned.
In rare instances, act as a bus driver to complete a route.
Qualifications
Eligible to work in the U.S
At least 5 years of experience in bus driver management and/or field supervision. Student transportation is strongly preferred.
At least 3 years of training bus drivers behind the wheel
At least 2 years of experience in safety compliance, preferably in a school bus environment
DMV 19-A Certification required
Valid NY CDL (Class B) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements or able to obtain it within 90 days.
Bilingual: Spanish, or French or Haitian Creole highly valued
High School diploma or equivalent. A degree from an accredited university is preferred.
Training and/or certification in Reasonable Suspicion is required.
Training and/or certification in CPR and First Aid is strongly preferred.

* Collaborates with other Northeastern University colleagues, including police operations, international safety, and emergency management to apply best practices to the NY campus
* Performs the job duties of an officer, as needed
* Utilizes communication and engagement best practices to collaborate with university colleagues in residential life, facilities, general counsel, human resources, and other key functions
* Advises senior leadership and university officials on potentially threatening or concerning trends & incidents
* Oversees the budget for the Campus Safety Department
2) Strategic Vision, External Community Engagement
* Assessing the campus and any future expansion sites for additional security recommendations & the development of enhanced protocols
* Delivering staff and student training and working with campus leadership to identify safety and security solutions.
* Developing robust collaborative relationships with local, state, and federal emergency response organizations
* Meeting with community members and external organizations as appropriate
* Making recommendations for strategic personnel and contracted security enhancements to promote organizational efficiency

Description:
Develop and implement safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
Ensure compliance with the approved Site Specific Health and Safety Plan
Conduct detailed safety audits of construction sites to ensure compliance of code, law, rule, regulation and company policy
Participate in the creation of safe work plans and job hazard analyses with foreman and Superintendents
Perform Incident investigations and develop root cause analyses
Maintain data for OSHA, DOB and NYC DEP reporting
Conduct respiratory fit test after medical clearance has been obtained
Identify and evaluate hazards, then implement corrective actions
Inspect safety and rescue equipment
Collect and maintain a log of Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
Organize and lead safety meetings
Liaise with site superintendents to proactively manage EH&S risks
Complete safety training
Conduct new-hire orientations
Maintain site records

Requirements:

SSM - NYC DOB Site Safety Manager License
Experience applying OSHA and EPA regulations to conditions found on project sites
Working knowledge of Microsoft programs such as Word, excel, PowerPoint, Teams
Excellent written and verbal skills
