Responsibilities:
Serve as an owners representative for safety

Develop safety kick-off presentations and conduct on-site orientations and pre-shift meetings

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Safety Specialist is responsible for positively shaping and impacting Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania's safety culture by identifying, eliminating, and controlling hazards across diverse work environments and programs. Duties include but are not limited to:
Identify and address unsafe practices, equipment, or conditions, and recommend practical solutions to reduce risks.
Conduct scheduled and unscheduled site visits, inspections, investigations, and audits of assigned locations, to assess status of compliance and develop action plans for improvement, in conjunction with internal staff and external resources
Develop and deliver innovative and engaging safety training and education programs on topics including but not limited to, Fire Safety, Emergency Preparedness, Hazard Communication, Bloodborne Pathogens, Lockout Tagout, PPE, Fall Protection, Accident Prevention, Confined Space, Forklift/Stacker and Driver Safety, using the most effective training techniques for the situation and topic.

In this role, you will
Perform safety analysis at all levels of system product to identify design vulnerabilities. Derive from the analysis of functional and technical safety requirements for various Autonomy software subsystems to ensure the safety of the self-driving vehicle in the presence of faults. Work with cross-functional teams to play a critical role in complex system understanding, modeling, and definition of the system constraints. This position requires excellent written and oral communication proficiency in conjunction with organization skills necessary to maintain focus and achieve consensus within diverse multi-disciplined teams. The successful candidate will be a self-starter and able to work independently, learn, tailor and execute processes, and perform in a collaborative environment.

Perform hazard analysis and risk assessment (HARA) and derive Safety Goals and FTTI;

The base salary range for this position is $146,000-$234,000 per year. Aurora's pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Reliability, Maintainability, and Safety Engineer with expertise in launch licensing and range safety compliance to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that our space systems, launch vehicles, and ground operations comply with all regulatory requirements and safety standards.
Job Responsibilities:
Compliance management: Ensuring adherence to relevant safety and reliability standards and regulations, particularly launch license and range safety compliance. Evaluate the compliance of vehicles and their missions with applicable technical regulations.
Hazard identification and risk assessment: Conducting safety analyses like Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) to identify potential hazards and assess their severity, likelihood, and risk level.
Reliability analysis: Performing reliability assessments on systems and components to predict potential failure modes and develop strategies to improve system reliability.
Design review and input: Collaborating with design engineers to incorporate safety and reliability requirements into new designs and modifications.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
Strong understanding of engineering principles and safety analysis methodologies
Proficiency in reliability engineering techniques such as FMEA, FTA, and RCA
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and regulatory bodies
Experience with computer-aided design tools and reliability prediction software
Experience with at least one of the following: 14 CFR Part 450, AFSPCMAN 91-710, and/or ARP4761
Experience working with at least one of the following regulatory bodies: FAA, FCC, and/or US Air Force/Space Force (range compliance)
Data analysis skills to interpret equipment failure data and identify trends

Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Safety Specialist is responsible for positively shaping and impacting Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania's safety culture by identifying, eliminating, and controlling hazards across diverse work environments and programs. Conduct scheduled and unscheduled site visits, inspections, investigations, and audits of assigned locations, to assess status of compliance and develop action plans for improvement, in conjunction with internal staff and external resources
