Job Description The Field Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) will assist in advancing a higher standard of health and safety throughout all assigned operations of Ameritech Contracting and ensure that no employee is exposed to unacceptable conditions. In this role you will … Assist in controlling hazardous working conditions and unsafe employee activities Supervise and coordinate project emergency action procedures, including work assignments, personnel administration, staffing, and training for emergency contingency plans Develop and administer job site safety and environmental training Complete daily project safety audits, as well as property damage and personal injury investigations Provide oversight to ensure that the project site conforms to all applicable safety regulations Document all accidents, safety violations, and unsafe conditions Provide problem resolution for sites that are in violation of safety standards Support OSHA compliance officers, corporate safety officers, and insurance inspectors during on-site audits Monitor contractor compliance with OSHA and Ross Group safety requirements Maintain all safety documents for the project site Facilitate necessary safety meetings Submit unplanned event forms to Human Resources if a work-related injury occurs Assist in preparing written appeals for safety violation citations Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction. As the ideal candidate you… Have experience in safety management on construction job sites, with a Bachelor's degree in Safety Management, Occupational Safety and Health, or a related field. Have a proven successful project history of maintaining quality and safety, you excel at managing rapidly changing priorities to accomplish project goals. Summary: The Safety Representative reports to the Director - Operations and works closely with the Energy Transfer Safety Manager. The incumbent will work to develop consistency and will act as a subject matter expert in his/her assigned area. The successful candidate may be assigned specific locations of responsibility but will work within the Area as needed. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Providing leadership and expertise in developing and implementing company safety programs * Training and motivation of company personnel to achieve superior safety performance * Performing equipment, facility, and work-in-progress inspections * Injury and accident investigations including identifying, developing, and implementing preventative measures * Conducting, assisting, and/or coordinating in-house inspections, third party safety audits, and/or safety and environmental audits for the Area locations. * Work with Managers and Employees to build consistency in the understanding and application of company procedures and regulatory requirements. Essential Requirements: * Ability to perform incident investigations using appropriate techniques and to identify and correct root causes * Ability to assume & perform duties and handle multiple tasks under potentially stressful and/or hazardous conditions * Work well with others and also be able to perform work independently. * Demonstrate sound judgment. * Have knowledge of safety rules and practices and a very good safety record. * Have basic computer skills. * Have a history of being dependable & reliable. * Good organizational skills, good customer relations skills, and a record of very positive work performance Required experience is commensurate with the selected job level * Representative - Safety: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and 6+ years of relevant work experience * Sr Representative - Safety: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, 8+ years of relevant work experience Working Conditions: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. * Usually, normal office working conditions. * Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing. * Occasional overnight travel may be required.
