Ensures safety programs, such as, forklifts, hazardous materials, personal protective equipment, fire protection, MSDS, material handling and storage, hearing conservation, machinery guarding, lockout/tag out, and emergency action plan are maintained. Participates in regional and global activities as required. Conducts audits to detect existing or potential environmental, fire, safety, and health hazards, determines corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented. Facilitates the investigation of incidents, injuries, and near misses and maintains proper documentation. Assists in the preparation of material and evidence for organization use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations. Ensures proper completion of the Initial WC Report and makes sure employees receive initial appropriate care. Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information and materials. Public Health Investigation and Enforcement Investigate potential public health complaints and concerns in accordance to the Ohio Revised Code, Ohio Administrative Code, City of Canton Health Code and other statutes and regulations. Document investigations in order to issue appropriate compliance orders, which may include education, consultation, and/or enforcement with legal action. Collaborate with REHS to enforce relevant public health laws and rules. Work collaboratively with other city departments to improve the environmental health of Canton. III. Minimum Qualifications and credentials: Must be registered with Ohio Department of Health as a Registered Environmental Health Specialist in good standing.
