The Deputy Chief Dam Safety Engineer is responsible for providing technical, managerial, and supervisory direction in all engineering and technical activities concerning the evaluation and compliance of dam safety inspections, monitoring, coordination, and reporting regarding water retention structures owned and operated by the Grand River Dam Authority (GRDA). These include Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) licensed and unregulated projects. The Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring compliance with safety regulations, developing and implementing safety programs, and conducting training sessions to promote a safe work environment. Responsibilities include implementing health and safety protocols, conducting regular safety audits, and educating employees on safety regulations and procedures. This critical role ensures compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations while fostering a safe and sustainable workplace.
