Trulite is GROWING! We are looking for Safety Manager to be based at our New Berlin, WI location. The Safety Manager is responsible for the Environmental, Health, and Safety programs related to OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory agencies for the entire plant location.
$70,000-$80,000
Who You Are:
You are willing to work hand in hand with other plant management to develop and deliver plant safety reports and statistics and provide leadership and development regarding environmental health and safety matters. You will maintain records, development of recordable incident investigation and information for corporate conference calls, development of corrective action plans to prevent reoccurring problems, etc.
Skills You Bring:
BS Degree in Safety or equivalent or two years' experience as a safety professional or a combination of both
OSHA 30 preferred
Good written and verbal communication skills
A team player
Must be able to train other employees effectively
Experience working with quality systems is preferred
What You Will Be Doing:
This position is hands on and requires you to spend 90% of your time on the production floor
Directs the organization's safety programs to protect employees and maintain safe working conditions. Facilitates monthly safety committee meeting and develops weekly toolbox talks and monthly safety trainings per OSHA and company's yearly training structure
Formulates and suggests work safety standards
Risk prevention areas include hazardous materials exposure, accidents, ergonomic concerns, and other unsafe conditions
Meets compliance and reporting requirements of federal or state regulations.
Performs New Hire Safety Orientations and other safety training and maintains appropriate records
Assists with investigations of incidents, accidents, complaints, and cases of ill health.
Assists with risk assessments and site inspections. Coordinates yearly OSHA audits with state and corporate partners
Works with management and maintenance to ensure equipment is installed correctly/safely as well as assists with ensuring maintenance of equipment is up to date and scheduled accordingly
Keeps all environmental tasks up to date per state, federal, and company standards. Applies for permits and does necessary inspections/tests per branch environmental plans. Updates share point site to status of environmental compliance
Schedules and ensures yearly emergency action plan drills are scheduled and completed
Evaluates and coordinates purchasing of personal protection equipment as well as coordinates the plant's safety shoe and prescription eyewear program
Continues efforts towards INSHARP and VIPP Certifications for the branch

EHS Manager Requirements:
Bachelor Degree required in EHS discipline or related science or engineering with eight (8) or more years experience in a manufacturing environment.
Preferred ASP, CSP, CIH, CHMM, or progress to completing similar certifications.
In-depth knowledge of health, safety and environmental regulations at local, state, and federal levels.
Proven ability to be proactively facilitate change through education and training.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral and ability to communicate with all levels of the organization.

By midday, you're delivering a forklift or crane certification class, or jumping into on-the-spot coaching at a jobsite. In the afternoon, you might conduct a field safety check, spot a trend, and schedule an updated training session to close the gap. You'll wrap by updating certification records, collaborating with HR on incident documentation, and preparing recommendations that strengthen our safety-first culture.
Your impact
Own the development, expansion, updating, and implementation of safety training programs for all construction and field service activities in Dairy and Grain divisions.
Partner with division management, project managers, engineers, technical service leads, crew foremen, and other safety personnel to determine training needs.
Research industry-specific training options to meet regulatory requirements (e.g., OSHA/ANSI) and negotiate with vendors when needed.
Deliver training in multiple formats-classroom, on-the-spot/jobsite-and administer programs such as forklift and crane certifications; bring in outside professionals when appropriate.
Use the right resources to tailor training relevance, audience, and duration.
Conduct periodic field safety checks and assign or deliver follow-up training to address findings.
Establish criteria and systems for documenting and tracking training records in line with best practices and regulations; partner with HR to maintain accurate databases.
Ensure robust accident reporting for division employees: review incident sites, complete reports, obtain witness statements, and present findings to HR.
Coordinate with HR to monitor injured employees' health status, support return-to-work, and confirm care aligns with any work restrictions.
Champion a safety-minded culture-reinforce policies and expectations; advise and support managers, foremen, and leads.
Represent Dairy and Grain divisions on safety-related matters; assist other company divisions as a safety resource when needed.
Handle special projects and additional duties as assigned; maintain a professional appearance at all times.
What you bring
High school diploma or G.E.D., plus 2 years of higher education or equivalent work experience.
Knowledge of OSHA and ANSI requirements.
At least 2 years of practical safety experience, preferably on construction or heavy equipment installation jobsites.
Clear written and verbal communication with strong presentation skills; familiarity with adult learning principles is helpful.
Above-average PC proficiency, including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
Fluent English required; Spanish fluency preferred.

Position Purpose:
Responsible for providing and administering environmental, health, and safety programs and related policies and procedures affecting the company's existing and/or proposed environmental health and safety issues. Acts in a liaison capacity with EH & S and H&S personnel regarding interpretation of all policies and procedures, pertaining to technical support and guidance on industrial hygiene, reactive and explosive, OSHA, substance abuse testing, accident prevention, etc throughout the Central Branch. Provides and assists in the training of emergency response techniques, safety management, risk assessment, etc. to maintain appropriate safety standards throughout the company.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
Implement and administer programs pertaining to OSHA, medical surveillance, substance abuse testing to avoid potential liabilities and maintain a viable workforce at all VES-TS locations.
Coordinate worker's compensation, accident, and injury management programs with facility personnel to determine adverse trends and develop meaningful productive standards resulting in safe and effective operations.
Implement industrial hygiene, safety, regulatory and transportation programs as well as modifying existing plans to meet the needs of the facility(s).
Acts as chairperson on improvement team pertaining to all environmental, health, and safety programs. Makes appropriate recommendations on either a national level or modifications to facilitate the needs at various levels within VES-TS locations.
Provides guidance to all levels of management regarding utilization of appropriate practices in conjunction with regulatory requirements and changes, if necessary.
Provides training in environmental, site remediation, reactive chemical operations, emergency response, etc. as needed or requested by local operation sites.
Provides appropriate research and investigation to support the development of existing and/or potential new environmental, transportation, health and safety policies as determined by management or required by federal, state, or local governmental agencies.
Approximately 10% travel required.
Qualifications
Education/Experience/Background:
BS in Chemistry or a related discipline or equivalent work experience required.
5 to 8 years in the hazardous waste industry preferred.
Minimum of 3 years in a problem-solving capacity required.
