As a Risk and Safety Specialist, you will assist the Risk and Safety Manager by helping manage risk for various facets of the organization. You will help develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, tribal, and local regulations. Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential Functions) *Investigate injuries and incidents to determine root causes and analyze trends for both team members and guests. Recommend and implement measures to reduce or eliminate hazards. *Conduct workplace safety inspections to identify unsafe working conditions and practices. *Oversee required safety-related training for team members to ensure regulatory compliance and effectiveness. Coordinate and administer training on the proper use of scissor lifts, forklifts, fire extinguishers, or safety procedures as needed. Responsible for conducting new hire safety orientations. *Maintain data and documentation in EHS software to consistently track: Incident reports, OSHA recordable injuries, completion of training, Safety Data Sheets, chemical inventories, inspection reports and required environmental record keeping. *Work closely with Operations to communicate and advise on regulatory requirements. Collaborate with management and front line team members to gain a firm understanding of work processes, and determine most effective methods to implement safety best practices. *Conduct ergonomic assessments and job hazard analyses on tasks identified as high risk. Coordinate and implement the Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure plan. Participate in site visits with contractors, vendors, insurance carriers and consultants as needed. Assist in the development, communication and execution of internal Policies and Procedures to ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, tribal, and local regulations. Perform job duties in full compliance with internal controls and external regulations. Perform other duties as assigned. Job Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and at least 1 year of work experience in Occupational Safety, or a Bachelor's degree in a closely related field, with at least 3 years of work experience in an Occupational Safety position are required. The ability to perform data analysis and identify trends using Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) software and other analytical data sources to problem solve, interpret data, and implement long term measurable risk reduction strategies. The ability to write routine reports and correspondence as well as work with Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) software to complete tasks. Office skills must include the ability to use standard office equipment and knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, including Excel. Auto Cad experience preferred. The ability to use strong organization skills and attention to detail to accurately handle multiple job duties and projects in a fast-paced environment. The ability to read and interpret written instructions, diagrams, blueprints, and schematics. The ability to use basic math skills including adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, and counting using whole numbers and fractions/whole numbers. The ability to maintain discretion in handling confidential information. The ability to interact with guests and team members at all levels of the organization professionally, including the ability to speak in front of small groups. The ability to work irregular hours and extended shifts including late nights, early mornings, weekends, and holidays. While performing the duties of this job, the team member is required to talk, hear, stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and move for prolonged periods of time in a physically demanding, fast-paced environment. The team member is frequently required to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The team member must be able to operate a personal computer. The team member will be required to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects up to 25 pounds on a regular basis. Team member must wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while performing job duties. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Working Conditions The noise level is usually moderate. When on the casino floor the noise level increases. The facility is not smoke free. While performing the duties of this job, the team member occasionally works near machinery with moving mechanical parts and at heights. Responsible for maintaining up to date training records for the entire department. Responsible for supervising, overseeing, organizing, and coordinating the work of direct reports and training instructors in the development and delivery of specialized outreach training across department and organizational units. Supervise the recruitment, selection and performance of department trainers and instructors. Assess their performance to ensure competency and compliance with department training standards. Position Requirements- Requires a valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, ability to be insured by CHHS carrier. Currently hold or successfully complete CPR certification - Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers through American Heart Association or American Red Cross Currently certified or ability to successfully complete Marcus Crisis Prevention Program (MCPP) Currently hold or successfully complete ICS 100, 200, and NIMS 700 on-line training courses through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Currently certified or successfully complete within 1 year from date of hire Train-The-Trainer/Instructor level certification in Defensive and Arrest Tactics (DAAT), Defensive Tactics for Security (DTS), Vistelar Workplace Violance Prevention and Intervention or other training required by administration to successfully administer the duties of position. Education High School graduate or Certificate of General Education Development (GED) or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED). Experience Requires 5 years of experience as a uniformed officer in healthcare security, corporate security, law enforcement, and /or military. Requires 3 years of experience directly leading development and delivery of professional training programs with specific experience in security and/or law enforcement curriculums. Knowledge / Skills / Abilities Exhibits guiding behaviors that reflect Children's values and support our mission and vision. Requires knowledge of law enforcement/security operations, fundamentals of adult learning, lesson plan preparation, training techniques, and methods of presentation. Demonstrated ability to make sound, independent decisions within established policy and procedural guidelines. Proven ability to effectively handle multiple priorities, organize workload and meet strict deadlines and delegates appropriately. Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills necessary in order to interact with variety of hospital staff, patients, and visitors under potentially stressful situations, and to prepare and present educational materials to individuals and groups. Must demonstrate critical thinking, problem-solving and organizational and time management skills. Strong computer skills, in order to utilize equipment and systems (PC software applications, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint, CAD, Incident Reporting, etc.) Ability to work cooperatively with a culturally diverse client population and work force. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Provides services in a setting where there is potential for exposure to blood and other high risk body fluids, chemotherapy agents, communicable disease and hazardous materials, chemicals, and waste. Must travel to different sites and locations Must be available to respond at varying hours to perform duties. Work is performed inside and outside of buildings. Environmental conditions include cold, heat, humidity, snow, rain, etc. Walking/standing surfaces can be uneven and/or slippery. This includes standing outside the Welcome Booth in all types of weather conditions. Physical requirements of the job are consistent with the medium physical demand level. Requires combined walking and standing for up to 100% of the work shift, and occasional running for distances of approximately ½ mile, both indoors and outdoors. Must be able to climb several flights of stairs and carry equipment (e.g. fire extinguishers, etc.). Must be able capable of lower level work (e.g. kneeling, squatting) for brief periods, and be able to lift 50 lbs. occasionally from floor level. Must be able to assist individuals (e.g. transport a guest in a wheelchair). Must be able to physically restrain patients/disruptive individuals of varying stature. Requires ability to assess safety situations (e.g. identify smell, color, near and far acuity, temperature, etc.). Preferred Job Requirements Education Associate Degree or completion of 30 college credits in criminal justice, education, or equivalent field of study preferred. Experience Experience in Mental Behavioral Health (MBH), Trauma Informed Care (TCI), and/or Crisis Intervention (CI) programming with emphasis on integrating protective strategies preferred. Knowledge / Skills / Abilities Knowledge with Principles and practices of organizational development, learning and instruction in an employment setting. Adult educational and training theories and methodologies. Methods and techniques for conducting course evaluations and needs assessments. Methods and techniques for lesson plan development and designing training programs and delivery systems. Curriculum design, documentation, presentation, and evaluation. Principles and techniques of presentation and group facilitation. Principles of fiscal, statistical, and administrative research, evaluation, and report preparation. Principles and practices of business communication, including business letter writing and report preparation, oral speaking and presentation.
