The safety representative must also be well-versed in basic computer software and safety inspection software. Safety experience within downstrean chemical plant or oil refineries or similar is required.
Qualifications:
A minimum of 3+ years of experience in new construction safety.
NCCER, BCSP, or a degree in safety management is preferred.
Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

What You'll Do (Essential Functions)
Own the EHSS program for JEGS: set strategy, priorities, and annual plans aligned to operational goals and risk reduction.
Lead safety compliance and risk management including OSHA program management, hazard identification, inspections, corrective actions, and audit readiness.
Drive incident prevention and reduction : implement programs to reduce recordables, near misses, and lost-time events; lead root cause analysis and corrective action follow-through.
Manage workers' comp and claims coordination in partnership with HR/Benefits and medical providers; support return-to-work and light duty processes.
Develop and deliver safety training (new hire orientation, job-specific safety, PIT/forklift partnership, lockout/tagout, hazard communication, emergency response, etc.) and ensure documentation is accurate and audit-ready.
Own environmental compliance as applicable (waste handling, spill prevention, storage, labeling, contractor controls, and any required reporting).
Lead emergency preparedness : develop and test response plans (fire, severe weather, medical, security events), run drills, and maintain readiness.
Oversee security operations : facility access controls, incident response protocols, vendor/guard coordination (if applicable), investigations, and loss prevention partnership.
Partner with Facilities/Maintenance and Operations to ensure safe equipment, safe processes, and effective preventive maintenance practices.
Build a safety culture across shifts : coach leaders, run safety committees, conduct Gemba-style safety walks, and reinforce “see it/say it/fix it” behaviors.
Manage EHSS metrics and reporting : TRIR/DART, near misses, audit scores, training compliance, corrective actions aging, workers' comp trends, and leading indicators.
Maintain policies and documentation : SOPs, JSAs/JHAs, signage, PPE standards, contractor safety requirements, and required postings.
Serve as the site EHSS subject matter expert and primary contact for inspections and regulatory interactions.

Reduced TRIR/DART , fewer near misses, and measurable improvements in leading indicators.
Strong training completion/compliance and clear, consistent documentation.
Faster corrective action closure and fewer repeat findings.

Required Qualifications
5+ years of progressive EHSS experience, preferably in distribution, warehousing, manufacturing, or high-volume operations .
Working knowledge of OSHA standards and safety program implementation (e.g., LOTO, HazCom, PPE, walking-working surfaces, powered industrial trucks, machine guarding as applicable).
Proven experience leading incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action management.
Strong facilitation and coaching skills with the ability to influence frontline leaders and drive accountability.
Strong data skills: ability to track trends, build reports, and translate metrics into action.
Comfort operating in a fast-paced, multi-shift environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).

WHAT YOU'LL DO
Lead the tactical development and execution of EHS programs across multiple sites/states and functional areas, ensuring full compliance with OSHA, EPA, DoD contractual and other applicable federal, state and local regulations.
Partner with engineering, operations, facilities, and security to embed EHS into design, production and sustainment phases of the business.
Manage compliance with environmental permits, hazardous waste programs and industrial hygiene initiatives.
Lead and mentor EHS professionals, developing capabilities and succession strength within the team. Help make this a place EHS staff enjoy coming to work and staying for a career.
Serve as primary liaison with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies, and defense contract management agency (DCMA) on all EHS matters.
Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action implementation.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Safety Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, or related field.

Deep knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DoD and ISO standards; experience with startup environments preferred.
