This is a full-time, on-site role as a Safety Representative at Prime Safety Management LLC in the Columbus, OH area, supporting a mechanical and general contracting company.
The Safety Representative will be responsible for conducting chemical plant site safety audits, inspecting mobile equipment, performing fire protection and electrical safety inspections, assessing fall protection, respiratory protection, trenching and excavation, work permit safety auditing, and PPE inspections
The safety representative must also be well-versed in basic computer software and safety inspection software. Safety experience within downstrean chemical plant or oil refineries or similar is required.
Qualifications:
A minimum of 3+ years of experience in new construction safety.
NCCER, BCSP, or a degree in safety management is preferred.
Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Must be fit and able.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in the areas of safety related to those conditions expected to be encountered on a construction site
Ability to be on-site, in Fayette County, every day - may include weekends
OSHA 30-hour certification, required
Demonstrate a high level of competency of effective communication with project personnel ranging from project management to frontline workers
Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and industry best practices
Must be able to provide oversight and facilitate an event management process, including classification of potential event consequences, data collection, root cause analysis, correction action implementation, and sharing of lessons learned
Experience with MEP systems, with specific emphasis on electrical and mechanical isolation and lockout/tagout process coordination, preferred
Experience planning and implementing fall protection/prevention systems, rigging and hoisting, crane operations, underground utility damage prevention, environmental remediation, demolition, fire prevention, public protection, scaffolding, indoor air quality control, and mobile equipment, preferred
Ability to lift 50 pounds, frequent sit, stand, walk, reach, bend, climb, balance, stoop, kneel and crouch, traverse rough terrain, climb ladders and stairs
Ability to respond quickly to situations in a noisy, fast paced work environment
Ability to meet legally mandated safety standards to perform the job

What You'll Do: The Bureau of Environmental Health and Radiation Protection is seeking a candidate to fill our Environmental Health Specialist 2 position. This position will function as a technical expert in the sewage treatment systems program and related applications of soil science. This position will:
* Conduct surveys of local health district programs and prepare and review survey reports for accuracy and appropriateness of findings (e.g., interprets applicable laws, rules and regulation to correct or modify findings, recommends provisional status or sanctions or corrective actions in the case of non-compliance)
* Implement requirements of sewage treatment system program (e.g., reviews and recommends approval of tanks, pretreatment components, alternative wastewater treatment technologies [e.g., drip distribution systems])
* Review and evaluate verbal and written complaints related to sewage treatment systems, determine the required investigative work and conduct or direct field/investigative work to resolve the complaint
* Provide technical assistance, consultation and training to local health departments, state agencies, grantees, contractors, industry and general public in area of sewage treatment systems specializing in site and soil evaluations and issues
* Prepare technical reports and develop survey methodology, fact sheets, procedural guidelines, interpretive reports and technical bulletins
Registration as environmental health specialist pursuant to ORC 3776 & in addition to proceeding, must meet one of following options appropriate to area to be assigned:
* Graduated from an accredited college or university with at least a baccalaureate degree, including at least forty-five quarter units or thirty semester units of science courses approved by the director AND completed at least 30 months of full-time employment as an environmental health specialist AND must be able to provide own transportation.
* Or Graduated from an accredited college or university with at least a baccalaureate degree, completed a major in environmental health science which included an internship program approved by the director AND completed at least 18 months of full-time employment as an environmental health specialist AND must be able to provide own transportation.
* Or Graduated from an accredited college or university with a degree higher than a baccalaureate degree, including at least forty-five quarter units or thirty semester units of science courses approved by the director AND completed at least 18 months of full-time employment as an environmental health specialist AND must be able to provide own transportation.
* Or 6 mos. exp. as Environmental Health Specialist 1, 65731, in environmental health specialty to be assigned AND must be able to provide own transportation.
Note: Pursuant to Ohio Administrative Code Rule 4736-8-01(C): Science courses approved by the board shall be in biology, chemistry, physics, geology, mathematics, or statistics and be applicable to the practice of environmental health science.

* Bachelors or advanced degree in one of the physical, environmental sciences or engineering
* Experience providing technical assistance to stakeholders related to sewage treatment systems and products

* Experience in providing clear and concise written communications to a variety of audiences
* Experience in developing and presenting training/public speaking
* Experience conducting program surveys for compliance/enforcement

Position Overview
JGM is seeking an experienced Safety Officer with steel erection experience to support and oversee safety programs across multiple job sites nationwide. Reporting to the Health & Safety Manager, this role plays a key part in strengthening JGM's safety culture across corporate offices, fabrication operations, and active structural steel erection field projects. Certain projects may require full-time, onsite support in various states.
Responsibilities
* Conduct routine safety audits and inspections at fabrication shops and steel erection field sites
* Audit subcontractors and prepare detailed safety reports
* Represent JGM with owners, client representatives, and regulatory agencies
* Identify hazards, implement corrective actions, and recommend continuous improvements
* Lead new hire orientations and deliver ongoing safety training
* Investigate injuries, incidents, and near-miss events
* Develop and maintain site-specific safety plans in accordance with OSHA, MSHA, EM-385, DOT, USACE, and EPA standards
* Perform additional duties as assigned by management
Requirements
* High school diploma or GED preferred
* Hands-on safety experience supporting steel erection operations
* Willingness to learn, adapt, and grow within the role
* Strong math skills, including calculations and interpretation of graphs/data
* Ability to read and interpret regulations, safety plans, and construction drawings
* Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines
* Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office
* Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and meet physical demands of the role
* Strong interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution, teamwork, and collaboration
* Ability to fit-test and properly use required PPE
Preferred Qualifications
* CHST certification
* OSHA 500 and/or 501 Outreach Trainer certifications
* MSHA certification
* 5+ years of construction safety experience
* Direct safety experience in structural steel erection, including rigging, decking, crane picks, and work at height
* Training experience in mobile equipment, fall protection, overhead crane operations, and hazard recognition
* Strong communication skills with both management and field personnel
* Proven critical-thinking ability
* Familiarity with safety standards related to structural steel, metal decking, rigging, and erection sequencing
Work Environment
This position involves physically demanding work in active steel erection, construction, and fabrication environments, exposure to hazardous materials, and work in varying weather conditions. Required use of PPE-including hard hats, gloves, chemical suits, and other protective equipment-is mandatory. Strong situational awareness and adherence to safety protocols are essential.
