Depends on the Safeway you are working at . Benefits, discounts on movies , heritage park , west Ed mall if your a SEA member which is only 50 cents off each 2 week pay . You get 10 percent off everything up too 150 per week .
Hours are horrible as you are only ever part time . They definitely puck favorites . Lots if gossip abd drama abd full timers dint want to work abd everyone things they are your boss . Treat new comers badly as they want to get away with horrible habits .
Can't think of any besides I am used to it and it's a steady income atm .
Not sure at all
Where do I start . Sooooo much fr one everyone regardless of time there would be treated equal.
Basically be available for all over the map shifts and 4 hour shifts that make no sense and all Iver the place days nights afternoons it's really bad schedules....it's what best suits the full timers
Horrible
Horrible
Not alot these days besides I enjoy the customers and conversations we have other than that as far as people keep to yourself .
I have worked hard all my life and have received raises and promotions, always working a 110%. I thought that working for Safeway would be the best choice for the last few years of working. I was wrong.
I thought that giving 110% of working hard and efficiently I would get at least a raise, but being at 1619 Safeway I have received nothing for 21/2 years. I was hired for sanitation, but I am not allowed the time nor the hours to accomplish most of the sanitation. Also I did not know that the job was part time till I had been hired and had started working. There is so much that needs to be cleaned, I see it every day, but my manager does not care. the only time he cares is when his boss is coming or there is an inspection. Also letting the manager know about broken machinery or plumbing will always take weeks to fix, and even up to 1 1/2 years(a toilet in the mens bathroom).
Being able to buy groceries at a discount.
Haven't experienced anything positive
Making the employees number one priority.
Some of the people that I work with.
None
They do not follow their valus, mission, or union rules....it's all ambiguous. Very pitiful place....."white boys club"
I have insurance.
Nothing because they don't care about retaining employees, don't offer any training or advancement. The leadership team have no communication skills; extremely inadequate people....
They need to start from scratch; rebuild, rehire, retrain everyone from top to bottom......need to CARE about elevating employees especially women and people of color!
I didn't because I was already over qualified for the job....interview was 4 questions of why I would be good for the position. Really! I took the job because I was relearning to walkvafter an accident.
Very low
Yes
Nothing. There is so much gossip, drama, laziness and no one solving workplace issues it's miserable and painful to go to work.
Close to home. Part time. Somewhat independent as a personal shopper.
Employees mostly seem down. Not happy. They express dissatisfaction with store director and are often overworked.
Union. Paid leave.
It varies by director.
By reaching out to its employees and valuing their time. Appreciation goes a long way.
Just filled out the application and shared my work history in person as well.
comparable
Somewhat bothered. We don’t live in a diverse area. And we do hire disabled individuals. While I think that’s great, it doesn’t help when it comes to detailed needs.
The fact that I’m doing a great job. I’m happy. And most of the people. And I love to shop.
It's close to home.
The Store Manager, Kim, is a tyrant and the meat lead, Fernando, is almost as bad as the store manager.
Discounts.
I have never met him/her/them.
I would improve Safeway by hiring managers that are capable of treating their employee's with respect.
In my experience, the compensation at Safeway is below average in the industry.
I feel as though I am not allowed to show any signs of of being from a different demographic. I have been berated for being different by my store manager.
not much
Not recognized for hard work if you are over fifty.
the associates I work with is a perk.
nothing they are greedy
improve the working hours. Can't afford a decent living on 13 hours a week.
I already had cashier experience, just needed more working hours
It is the same as Lowe's cutting work hours that's terrible
As n older worker I have gone through discrimination and feel I I am again being discriminated.
fellow associates and our customers.
Decent wage
Management or corporate does not care about their employees. Hire ups make millions and the bosses are cutting employees hours. Managers don't know how to speak or deal with their employees. You give your best to a company and they treat you like your not worth anything. I don't see it changing now or in the future
None
Treating the employees better and give them what they are worth
Nothing
Had to go there 3 times just to speak to the hiring manager, not much preparation since she didn't ask me many questions
Okay
Okay
Right now nothing since the management don't care about their employees
Benefits, actual open doors , promotion
It's a lot of work , expectations are high the people who worked there the longest have the easy way
Health benefits, payroll
They have many many people delegating
Team chemistry
Acing my people skills
Not much , it's pays very well
It's very protective of their employees that have worked there the longest

close to my house
management is not trained how to manage. lets just say common sense is not common in management
we are a union so managers can't really do anything to the employees

The diversity of foods is what I like most about working at Safeway.
I don't like unsafe lifting practices and stressed out co-workers.
Comfortable chairs in the break room.
The social of working with several different people
All the different clicks
Health insurance
I like the hours I was able to pick up.
It was very sloppy and disorganized at times.
I like the employee discount
I didn't like that it was a learn as you go, without any proper training. Also, if your good worker it takes a long time to get a raised because of the employee budget. Most of the time managers don't know what they're doing or how to lead. If you are a good worker, you'll end up doing the work of 2 or 3 people
the employee discounts
experience
no opportunities
health benefits / great working environment / team work
I always stayed busy and got to make conversation and provide customer service for customers.
Being a cashier was very repetitive, however the hours went by fast.
Flexible hours
I like doing customer service and the work I do
That I need more money
medical
Sweeping up the floor and pushing the carts from the parking lot.
Bagging groceries
The Environment was great, people and employees we're really kind
Nothing, everything was just fine
We can take one hour lunch
i liked some of the workers
people. customers. customer service
nothing was good at safeway
The people I work with are amazing and great team members, and working in the E-Commerce department gives me allot of freedom to choose how I work
Sometimes I am forced to work above the hours I desire, that wouldn't be too much of a issue if I werent in school though.
Being able to shop for stuff after work.
Co-workers were great and enjoyed working with my team.
I had to work long hours due to staff shortages.
Employee discounts are given on items in the store.
Clean and safe invirnment with great co workers and customers.
I really like working for Safeway. At this time their isn't anything I dont like about the company.
Club card for savings. Health insure and a union.
Experience...
Changes in management...
Gain... Incentives going up.../percentage...going down:
The people you work directly next to are generally good and supportive people
You manager is almost never your leader and can't be trusted with consistent decision making
Employee discount
Good workers friendly and good teamwork
I have a family to raise and rather take my skills and hard work to somewhere I can support them
To make friends with workers
Build good relationships, flexible scheduling and mobility within the company, employee discount, the work itself is pretty enjoyable
Very unforgiving about time off, high tolerance for terrible workers with the expectation that the good workers pick up the slack, any complaining of any kind no matter how valid is unacceptable, no matter how terrible the customer is to you they get what they want.
It's easy to get promoted if you work hard
Pay and benefits were great.
Management played favortism, schedule was too much for someone who has a family, worked there for 15 years and still did not have weekends off.
All benefits paid for employee and family, 401k plan and pension
Accepting work environment and camaraderie. Easy face to face interaction with customers.
Not extremely challenging can easily become tedious.
Discounts on products
Good benifits, good people. Company seems to care about you.
Being new
Discounts
Good people, the environment is friendly
Job is boring and I have no benefits
Nothing I do not have any perks
Opportunity to move up
The music on the intercom system. Customers were sometimes rude
I met lots of people.
Hours were not consistent and management was rude at times.
Didn’t receive any perks or benefits.
