The program manager validates recurring cost (RC) and non-recurring costs (NRC) estimates and associated assumptions to ensure the delivery of a sound business case at the contract award (PROMPT S3 milestone). During any R&T phase (Internal R&D), when coordinating an R&T program, the program manager is responsible for setting associated schedule, milestones and budget. For R&T programs, the program manager works closely with sales and marketing to develop sound technology roadmaps and a channel into the market. As the R&T activities fall outside of the formal development process, the Program Manager develops and applies an appropriate management plan inspired by (but not strictly conforming to) PROMPT during the R&T phase. The Program Manager is in charge of managing the Technology Readiness Level and Manufacturing Readiness Level during R&T phase.
