Pay is not bad for hourly employees who can also get OT hours.
Once in management and above, you do the math and realize you put in extra hours and effort and make less money than the non-salaried employees! You are expected to work hours the school is in session, in some cases thats 51 weeks a year and you max out at 4 Weeks PTO, others get summers off and plenty of holidays and vacation weeks. The company expects you to drop your family and go to their coolaid drinking events during Christimas break and 4th of July breaks. Can't take PTO during May, June,Aug, Sept, and Oct. If you are required to work 6 day week, do not expect to only work 4 the next week! Sick days are a way for upper managers to penalize you, so don't bank on those either. The cons greatly outweigh the pros at this company and the most successfully managers/upper managers are single, white, middle aged men- those who don't want a family life or to support their wifes back at home with the womenly duties of keeping up the household.
Mileage- Since the start of this year, they have FINALLY acknowledged the wear on your car and have updated the policy to include the national average.
There is a new C-Level who has joined (surprisingly a woman, not related to the owners)!
Take a look at these CST and DM's workload and policies for them. They should not be held to the same handbook standards as the managers in the schools. Change these "events" to make them less dependent on weekend/holiday travel. Acknowledge that your employees have families and Family should come first. Revamp your PTO policy, it should be a pool of PTO, regardless of it being sick, personal or vacation time. At this place the squeekly wheel gets the grease, so if anyone cries to their client about something, the client will go to the top to make them happy, I know people who have gotten off of going to "events" while others are being told to cancel their paid trip to Disney or you will be fired. People getting time off when its not earned and managers who refuse to work nights or weekends and let hourly employees open and close for them. Stop rewarding those who do a terrible job and start giving bonuses to those who excel.
Unless its an hourly job, skip it. You'd be better off as a manager at McDonalds.
Yes, it compares on paper, but not once you get sucked in and the VPs start requiring you to live on the road to help out their big accounts.
Republican-voting, white, middle- aged, men are the Upper Managers in my region.
Helping produce great food and keeping my community happy.
Healthy environment, fair wages, great managers. The standards are upheld-fresh food made from scratch daily. And the owners invest in their team.
Sometimes there's not enough support. It depends on your DM.
We have time off around holidays and summer.
They host a conference every 18 months at a different location so we can be up to date on training.
I think I would make sure that the standards were enforced at all venues. While most do, I have seen locations where the manager isn't in uniform or doesn't follow a recipe etc and that is what SAGE prides' itself on.
Make sure your credit score is good, and be sure you have a strong culinary background.
They are very competitive. When new hires came in, they were making more than some of the older employees, and SAGE brought everyone's pay up to meet it.
We have a lot of minorities in management and hourly roles. More than most companies. I think they have even been recognized for it.
The people I work with, and the kids/ faculty at the school I work at.
You get to sneak food in your mouth while cooking
The food sucks
You don't have to wear a hairnet
