Sage Fly Fishing company history timeline

1981

The Company was founded by David Goldman together with Paul Muller and Graham Wylie in 1981 in Newcastle, to develop estimating and accounting software for small businesses.

1984

In 1984 the Company launched Sage software, a product for the Amstrad PCW word processor, which used the CP/M operating system.

1989

The Company was first listed on theLondon Stock Exchange in 1989.

1990

The term ERP was first used by industry analyst firm Gartner Group in 1990.

1994

In 1994 Paul Walker was appointed Chief Executive.

1996

Haitek became a development partner for Acuity Financials in 1996 and rewrote Shop-IV from within the Acuity Visual Tool software development kit.

1997

A first ERP based on this platform was built (Adonix Entreprise V2), with a full coverage (distribution, accounting, paroll, except for manufacturing). The company ADONIX started to grow, and decided in 1997 to become international.

1998

In 1998 Sage’s Professional Accountants Division was established.

1999

In 1999 Sage entered FTSE 100 and launched a dedicated Irish division, based in Dublin as well as its e-business strategy.

The term ERP was first used by industry analyst firm Gartner Group in 1990. It wasn’t until 1999 that Acuity Financials (Sage 500) became a true ERP business application.

2000

The first version of what is today Sage X3 was released in 2000 with four major releases in the first five years of availability representing a significant investment (Adonix had invested 20% of revenue into R&D annually).

In 2000 Sage shares were named ‘best performing share of the 90s’ in the UK business press.

2001

Sage acquired the Intellisol product in October 2001 making it available as the Project Accounting module as it exists today.

2003

In 2003 at age 43 Graham Wylie retired with 108.5 million shares in Sage worth £146m.

2010

On 1 October 2010 Guy Berruyer became CEO of Sage Group; Berruyer had previously been CEO of Sage’s Mainland Europe & Asia operations.

2012

The original Intellisol eTimeSheets module has since been replaced by Sage Timesheets which Sage sold to Insperity in 2012.

Intellisol, having another product tied to Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) was acquired by Microsoft in 2012 and folded into Microsoft’s ERP business unit.
