1998

1998 Soaring Eagle Resort opens

In 1998, the Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Council adopted a resolution establishing a tribally controlled college and forming a governing Board of Regents.

With its founding in 1998, Saginaw Chippewa Tribal College joined the larger tribal college movement.

2000

In October of 2000, SCTC moved to a leased building one mile from the Tribal Operations building and other tribal buildings.

2000 Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe becomes largest employer in Isabella County

2002

After evaluation of SCTC by the North Central Association (HLC/NCA) in November 2002, the college was approved to apply for initial candidacy to the commission's board of trustees.

2003

In February 2003, the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association awarded Initial Candidacy accreditation status to SCTC. It planned a field visit to the college.

2004

Ziibiwing Center of Anishinabe Culture & Lifeways was established in May of 2004 with that goal in mind.

In August of 2004, SCTC leased a second building at the same location The second building housed the Learning Resource Center, satellite library of the tribe, student computer lounge, two class rooms and a computer lab.

2005

In 2005, money from the US Department of Agriculture Land Grants Fund enabled the SCTC to acquire 24 computers and other accessories for students' use.

2006

In fall 2006, the Technology Enhancement Committee was established.

2007

In April 2007, the Higher Learning Commission site team recommended initial accreditation to the HLC Executive through field visits to SCTC. In 2007, SCTC became an accredited higher education organization.

The college celebrated with an accreditation luncheon in October 2007.

2007 Andahwod Continuing Care Community & Elder Services opened

2008 Saganing Eagles Landing Casino opened

2009

In May 2009, the Tribal Council authorized a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the SCTC and the Education Department, which established a university science laboratory facility shared by those two universities.

2010

2010 Federal Court upheld Isabella Reservation historical boundaries

2012

2012 Soaring Eagle Waterpark & Hotel and Hideaway RV Park opened
