Position Summary
Supervises terminal operations, including sorting, handling, loading, and unloading freight. Manages daily dockworker activities and ensures compliance with company policies and government regulations.
Major Tasks and Responsibilities
Oversees safe and efficient dock operations for all terminal staff.
Directs and evaluates dockworkers to ensure proper use of equipment and adherence to procedures.
Conducts daily inspections to maintain compliance with company policies, Department of Transportation standards, and other regulatory requirements.
Trains and coaches dockworkers on safety practices, operational performance, customer service, and equipment usage.
Reviews operational reports and provides recommendations to improve terminal efficiency and service.
Promotes and enforces a safe, clean, and organized dock environment.
Minimum Qualifications
Must be at least 18 years of age.
High school diploma or GED.
Authorized to work in the United States.
Read, write, communicate and comprehend the English language in order to perform the various tasks of the job, including but not limited to: converse with co-workers and members of the general public; understand oral and written instructions as well as governmental regulations; respond to questions and inquiries from management and government representatives; and accurately complete various shipping documents, reports and records required of the position.
Preferred Qualifications
5+ years of warehouse, freight, dock, forklift, or pallet jack experience.
Prior supervisory experience.
Strong knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and safety procedures.
Forklift certification or hazmat training.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in verifying shipments.

Key Responsibilities:
Communicate job requirements and responsibilities to drivers.
Day to day scheduling, counseling, and submitting evaluation reports to local management.
Conduct on-the-scene accident investigations; assist drivers in preparing accident reports, OSHA reports and safety violations documents.
Develop and host driver training and safety courses; train new drivers and retrain drivers involved in accidents.

Liaison between drivers and both the customers and the organization in customer service concerns

Must be at least 21 years of age

Computer literate - basic knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Must be able to work a flexible work schedule which includes working weekends, holidays, being on-call; Must also be available to address safety issues via phone when on-call

POSITION OVERVIEW:

REQUIRED SKILLS:
Minimum of 3 years of warehouse supervisory or lead experience in a fast-paced distribution or logistics environment.
Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop warehouse teams while maintaining a positive, safe, and productive work environment.
Strong understanding of warehouse operations, including inventory control, shipping/receiving, order accuracy, and productivity metrics.
Experience enforcing safety, food safety (SQF), and compliance standards.
Excellent organizational, communication, and decision-making skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks under pressure.
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and warehouse management systems (WMS).

The Terminal Operations Supervisor is responsible for managing the terminal employees and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to ensure customer deliveries are timely and efficient. Additionally, as a member of the terminal leadership team, you will be tasked with teaching and further developing policies and procedures within the framework of the “Pyle Culture.”
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
Developing the workforce by setting clear expectations, training, coaching and providing feedback
Performing employee reviews; documenting corrective action as needed
Participating in the interview and hire processes; providing constructive feedback on hiring decisions
Building pickup and delivery routes in the Pyle ERP system by assigning delivery stops within geographic area that ensures operational efficiency and customer delivery expectations are met
Ensuring all established unloading and loading processes are followed. Providing feedback and training to employees as necessary to ensure the safety of all employees
Reviewing load plan(s) and HAZMAT loading to ensure driver safety and DOT requirements
Ensuring all shipments are manifested and stowed properly to ensure damage-free transit
Generating and maintaining daily, monthly, and quarterly reports that support dock operations
Being accountable for Pyle Priority Shipments within the operation
To be qualified for this position, you must possess the following:
Terminal, transportation, and/or warehouse related experience; dispatch and or routing experience preferred
Prior experience in a supervisory or management position preferred but not required
Bachelor's degree preferred; High School Diploma, GED equivalent
Excellent verbal and written communications and organizational skills
Ability to display a sense of urgency; able to excel under pressure while operating with a high attention to detail

The PM Dock Manager creates, organizes, and provides direction to all dock team members to ensure freight is properly loaded and unloaded to facilitate on-time, error-free deliveries.

Key Deliverables:

Oversee the entire dock team, ensuring procedures and policies are being followed. Coach team members as needed, praising, and reinforcing positive behaviors to encourage repeat performance as well as redirecting behaviors to stop negative performance. Document interactions in a timely manner.
Hire, train and develop all team members, and provide them with the tools and resources needed to be successful.
Work directly with customers, following specific directions of handling accounts to exceed customer satisfaction by managing dock operations for on-time, error free deliveries.
Ensure safe and efficient loading and unloading of all freight. Work with team member(s) to identify and rectify unsafe practices, document the interaction(s), and follow up as needed to ensure unsafe/unwanted performance does not repeat.
Assist in unloading and loading of freight as needed, to support team.
Safeguard cross-dock operations and contents by establishing and monitoring safety and security procedures and protocols.
Conduct daily inspections, ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, local and company laws, regulations, and policies.
Assist with development and execution of continuous improvement initiatives as directed by operations manager. Take initiative to offer suggestions on needed improvements to streamline processes and/or save the company money.
Manage conflict and issue resolution between team members and/or customers as needed. Document in a timely manner and notify operations manager of situation.
Manage daily end-of-shift reports, as well as performance updates meeting or exceeding due dates.

Position Summary
Supervises terminal operations, including sorting, handling, loading, and unloading freight. Manages daily dockworker activities and ensures compliance with company policies and government regulations.
