About the Department The Department of Department of Mining and Explosives Engineering offers an ABET accredited B.S. degree in Mining Engineering and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Mining Engineering, Explosives Engineering, and Explosives Technology. The Department currently has 10 full-time faculty (7 T/TT faculty, one NTT teaching faculty and two NTT Research faculty) and 2 full-time staff members. The Department is a research leader at Missouri University of Science and Technology. The O'Keefe Center for Critical Minerals is led by several of the faculty members. Other research strengths include miner safety, explosives related effects, ventilation, ground control, processing, and sustainability. The department operates the S&T Experimental Mine in close proximity to the main campus where several lectures and labs are taught, and research is performed in a mining environment. The candidate is expected to have demonstrated leadership skills to grow our research enterprise. Qualifications Candidates must have a PhD in Mining Engineering or a closely related field preferentially holding a tenured faculty appointment at a peer or peer-plus university. Cabin Support Counselors live in a cabin with up to 14 campers and 3 -4 staff, support daily routines, lead or assist activities, and help maintain a positive camp community. This flexible role is designed for both returning camp alumni who wish to stay involved in a short term and low intensity way and emerging leaders exploring future full -season counselor roles. This position provides meaningful involvement in camp life with additional rest time and fewer administrative duties. Key Responsibilities: • Provide guidance to campers on their schedule, activity choices, and abiding camp rules • Assist campers at meal times, and in the cabin to ensure campers are maintaining health and hygiene practices such as showering, wearing clean clothes and getting appropriate sleep • Lead cabin activities, songs, and games that are engaging and age appropriate • Provide emotional and behavioral support to campers as needed by following behavior management techniques as outlined in the staff manual and during training • Support or lead instruction of assigned camp activities to campers • Ensure the safety of all campers when participating in camp activities Required Experience and Skills: • Completed High School in the last school year • A desire to positively impact the life of a child and willingness to put the needs of campers first • Have a passion for science, animals and childhood development • Able to effectively communicate ideas, and instructions in a constructive manner • Self -motivated and able to work on tasks and assigned goals with minimal supervision • Be willing to learn new concepts and skills • Able to work in a team and both give and take direction from others • Willingness to adhere to camp's code of conduct, rules and policies Download the Job Description for more details Benefits Starting pay $750 for 3 weeks. Additional $10 credit in camp store for snacks and supplies for each week at camp. Housing, meals, and laundry included. Weekend work is required, this position requires availability to work on -site 7 days a week for the contract period. Three 1 -hour breaks provided each day, and 1 scheduled day off each week.
