Job Summary: Project SAVE has been a program of Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New Orleans for over thirty years. Our program provides free legal services to victims of domestic violence in Orleans Parish Civil District Court. Our attorneys represent clients at their Protective Order hearings and help to empower them throughout the legal process. The Court may grant relief including temporary child custody, temporary use of the home and community property, and temporary child and spousal support. The Domestic Violence Counselor will work for CCANO on a part-time basis. The Counselor will have flexible work hours and will be able to provide tele-health services to clients. The Counselor will follow best practices and adhere to ethical and legal mandates. The counselor is expected to maintain necessary client records, maintain confidentiality and work closely with the Program Director to exceed contractual compliance. She/He is expected to have specialized knowledge of the principles of Domestic Violence Counseling and the evidenced based principles of standardized treatment. Clients will potentially have complex histories and/or intervention needs. The Domestic Violence Counselor will be considered a mental health expert within Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New Orleans (CCANO) and may be called upon to consult with other programs within the broader agency. Summary of Part-time Faculty Member Duties and Job Requirements Academic Advising Part-time faculty members do not serve as student academic advisors. Environment Part-time faculty members work in classrooms, offices, labs, and related venues to accomplish educational and research activities. Meetings Part-time faculty members are not expected to attend and participate in program, school, college and General Assembly meetings. Office Hours Part-time faculty members are not required to schedule officer hours; however, they are asked to make themselves available either immediately before or after class meetings. Physical Requirements Communicate with students, staff and colleagues. Read academic texts and materials, student papers, etc. Operate a personal computer and audio-visual equipment. Stand or sit for up to one to three hours at a time. Fly or drive to off-site meetings or conferences. Move around campus for classes and meetings. Other requirements as specified by a job description. Scholarly Activity Each part-time faculty member is expected to stay current in his/her field. Teaching Part-time faculty members may be assigned up to nine credit hours each semester. Part-time faculty members are expected to prepare for and meet their teaching responsibilities for every class. University/Community Service At his/her discretion, part-time faculty members may participate in activities relating to university programs, courses, governance, etc., or community activities that impact on, or are impacted by, the University and which contribute to the growth and development of students, the university and the community. You must remain alert throughout your entire shift, monitoring pool activities to enforce all safety guidelines. You will need a lifeguard and first aid/CPR certification and may need a pre-employment physical and skills test. You should be someone who is a rule follower with knowledge of rescue procedures and emergency medical procedures.
