Job Description $17-$22/hour depending on experience. As a packer, you will pack finfish portions for distribution to restaurants using the consolidated sheet. The Packer at KSD is responsible for the timely, orderly, and accurate packaging of all Cutting Room products in preparation for delivery. The Packer makes changes to the consolidated sheet as needed and works closely with the Plant Manager throughout the shift. Once hired, you will be trained in your area of expertise to ensure your capability and understanding of safety and sanitation. The Staging Packer I is responsible for sorting and moving packages to designated areas and performs various types of product packing and shipping in accordance with established procedures and/or commercial standards. The Staging Packer I is also responsible for labeling items and packing items into containers for shipping and ensuring that all items are packed, labeled, and recorded appropriately in preparation for transport. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Read work order information to determine which item to sort into the designated storage area. Ensure the correct item is picked up by comparing work orders against item and batch numbers. Physically move or transport items ready for delivery to the designated loading area. Report any item damage to the warehouse supervisor. Label items with the correct information, such as date, shipping, price, and quantity, according to set instructions. Process line labeling, stacking, and pallet consolidation. Move items to delivery pallets and assist loaders with the stacking of items. Ensure that all stored items are packed and stacked according to OSHA standards and company safety policies. Load or unload materials onto or off pallets, skids, or lifting device. Identify workplace safety hazards. The Finishing packer is responsible for inspecting product for quality, ensuring product is properly glued, and packing finished product into cases. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS FOR THIS POSITION: Ensures materials are staged and ready to go to maintain uptime and quick loads of pallets. Safely supports forming and gluing operations.
