Schedule
This is a full-time, position working nights, 7pm - 7:30am, 12-hour shifts with rotating weekends and holidays.
EXTRA INCENTIVE:
Up to $15,000 sign on bonus, subject to two-year Hospital Sign on Advance Agreement. (

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES (not limited to):
Assesses respiratory patient in order to determine physical and emotional care needs and capabilities.
Makes adjustments to inpatient care regimen to assure individualized effectiveness according to the patient's needs and capabilities, through use of protocols or physician contact, as necessary, to assure appropriateness of care.
Educates patient and/or caregivers to provide understanding of physiologic processes affecting their condition, the lifestyle modifications necessary to maximize health, the appropriate use of equipment and medication utilized in their care.
Works in conjunction with physician to provide respiratory consultation to assure implementation of appropriate and effective care orders and protocols, and to obtain meaningful diagnostic information.
Reports all adverse effects to include signs and symptoms of respiratory dysfunction from therapies and medications given.
Ensures 50% attendance on an annual basis at the regularly scheduled staff meetings.
Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
Ensures no injuries to self or others by following safe work practices and policies. This includes, but is not limited to: security and safety, understanding of MSDS, equipment, infection control, fire, disaster, safe lifting and body mechanics.
Ensures self-compliance with organization policies and procedures, as well as labor agreements.
Ensures the interface with team members and other support groups is conducted in a courteous and efficient manner conducive with the organization's values.
Conducts self in a professional manner and ensures personal appearance meets the standards necessary to perform the job function while representing the organization.
Ensures that additional accountabilities as may be required by management be handled in a manner necessary to meet organizational standards.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (not limited to):
Graduate of AMA accredited two (2) year Respiratory Care Practitioner education program (or equivalent criteria for state regulatory requirements).
Two (2) years postgraduate acute care respiratory care experience preferred.
CRT, RRT eligible, or RRT credentials from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC), and State of Washington Respiratory Care Practitioner Certification/License.
Current BLS (Healthcare Provider Level), ACLS, NRP, and PALS certifications.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Routine prolonged standing and fast walking with occasional lifting, reaching, kneeling, bending, stooping, pushing and pulling.
Good reading eyesight.
Delicate dexterity and coordination necessary to accomplish tasks.
Able to employ body mechanics in lifting and moving patients while avoiding self-injury.
Able to tolerate prolonged and repeated use of barrier protection devices for hands, face and body as appropriate to clinical situations.
Ability to communicate using verbal and/or written skills for accurate exchange of information with physicians, nurses, health care professionals, patients and/or family, and the public.

What you will do
Reviews EMR for physician orders and patient information, to assess patient condition and determine requirements for treatment such as type and duration of therapy, and medication and dosages.
Determines most suitable method of administering inhalants, precautions to be observed, and modifications which may be needed that will be compatible with Physician's orders. Consults with Physician in event of adverse reactions.
Sets up and operates devices such as mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration, blood gas collection and analysis, and aerosol equipment. Observes equipment function and adjusts to obtain optimum results to therapy. Inspects and tests respiratory therapy equipment to ensure appropriate safety and functionality. Reports improper working equipment
Monitors patient's physiological status and responses to therapy such as vital signs, breath sounds, respiratory rate and pattern, arterial blood gases, and blood chemistry changes.
Performs bronchopulmonary hygiene and assists patient in performing breathing exercises.
Performs basic life support measures, and responds to emergent patient situations.
Documents patient care in patient's EMR. Records accurate patient charges
Demonstrates respiratory care procedures to orientees. Serves as Clinical Instructor for Respiratory students

Under the direction of the leadership of Respiratory Therapy services, the Respiratory Therapist is responsible to see that all treatments/procedures are carried out according to the provider orders. Care is provided in areas of the medical center, including but not limited to NICU, Adult ICU, Emergency Department, Birth Center and general medicine. Respiratory Therapists may also work in the outpatient pulmonary rehab area, as well. Pulmonary Function Lab operates as a separate entity and requires additional specialized training.
Under the direction of the Respiratory Therapy department leadership, the Senior Respiratory Care Practitioner maintains standards of professional respiratory care and performs related duties as assigned. Does not hire, fire, discipline, promote, demote, transfer, or appraise performance.
