This is a per diem position working variable shifts and days.
SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES (not limited to):
Participate with Radiologist and/or physician by contributing technical and professional knowledge.
Review pathology, surgical and delivery reports, as appropriate, to follow patients progress and provide a means of reviewing the accuracy of the diagnostic exam.
Clinical and Technical - Must be familiar with the following fundamentals:
Appropriate transducer, gain, field of view, focal range, frame rate, dynamic range, etc.
Appropriate use of 2-D, 3-D, M-mode, Doppler, and color flow.
Exam protocols are followed as necessary.
Correlation is made of the clinical history with the exam to be performed.
Confirm patient preparation and explain procedure to patient.
Appropriate patient information is given.
Necessary measurements and labels are given.
Appropriate imaging device (camera, VHS, printer) is used.
Proper images are generated.
Judgment
Recognize the significance of all structures that are visualized.
Differentiates artifact from normal or pathologic processes.
Determines if anatomy is normal or abnormal and appropriately delineates any
Deviate from normal techniques when necessary.
Perform abdominal, obstetric, gynecologic, venous and carotid Doppler, and various small parts ultrasound exams. Consults with radiologist per exam.
Transport patients.
Maintain supplies.
Perform and archive proper paperwork for exam.
Responds to patient needs and maintains patient confidentiality according to HIPAA regulations.
Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
Ensures no injuries to self or others by following safe work practices and policies. This includes, but is not limited to: security and safety, understanding of MSDS, equipment, infection control, fire, disaster, safe lifting and body mechanics.
Ensures self-compliance with organization policies and procedures, as well as labor agreements.
Ensures the interface with team members and other support groups is conducted in a courteous and efficient manner conducive with the organization's values.
Conducts self in a professional manner and ensures personal appearance meets the standards necessary to perform the job function while representing the organization.
Ensures that additional accountabilities, as may be required by management, be handled in a manner necessary to meet organizational standards.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (not limited to):
Graduation from fully accredited Sonography program.
One year of acute care Ultrasound Technologist experience required.
One American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) registry in either Abdomen or OB/GYN or ARDMS eligible.
ARDMS Eligible: One ARDMS registry in either abdomen or OB/GYN within 6 months of hire
Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (HCP) level to be completed within three (3) months of hire.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Occasional standing, walking, lifting, reaching, kneeling, bending, stooping, pushing and pulling.
Must be able to maneuver patients on table in order to obtain proper images.
Able to lift at least 50 lbs.
Good reading eyesight.
Ability to communicate using verbal and/or written skills for accurate exchange of information with physicians, nurses, health care professionals, patients and/or family, and the public.

Ultrasound Technologist, Reg - Day Shift

Acts as a positive interface with all customers and in a manner consistent with world class service.
Demonstrates the ability to competently perform those duties within the scope of practice for Sonographers as outlined by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists.
Adheres to and practices in accordance with the American Society of Radiologic Technologists Clinical, Quality, and Professional Performance Standards for Sonographers related to assessment, analysis/determination, patient education, performance, evaluation, implementation, outcomes measurement, documentation, quality self-assessment, education, collaboration/collegiality, and ethics.
Ensures services are delivered with the highest possible quality, safety and outcomes within a model plan of care consistent with world class care.
Secondary Job Duties That May be Reassigned:
May assume responsibility as Charge Technologist according to assigned work shift requirements, or as needed/delegated.
Rotate regular work schedule to accommodate vacations, illnesses, and weather conditions.
Transport patients and assist others with patient transportation relative to patient acuity level.
Provide fixed and mobile ultrasound services at outlying centers, facilities, and/or physician offices.
Perform various tasks to assist Department in maintaining cohesive, efficient operation.

Job Specifications:
Education: Satisfactory completion of a Program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography Accredited by one of the following: Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography; Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs; Council for Higher Education Accreditation; or United States Department of Education.
Licensure:
Current Registry and Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Sonography (S) or the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (RDMS).
Current Certification in Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.
Experience: Previous experience as a Ultrasound Technologist preferred but not required.

Job Summary:
Performs diagnostic ultrasound exams in accordance with ARDMS standards and ethics. The Ultrasonographer complies with company policies and procedures to include regulatory changes and prescribed safety standards with the needs of the patient and physician in mind. Responsibilities include integrating scientific knowledge and technical skills with effective patient interaction to provide quality patient care, and useful diagnostic information.
Essential Job Functions:
Prepares patient for ultrasound exam with thorough explanation of the procedures and clear instructions.
Obtains a thorough patient history as it relates to the exam to be completed.
Reviews the patient's chart and physician's request to determine optimal scanning parameters for suspected pathology. Verifies the patient consented to the procedure and fully understands its risks, benefits, alternatives and follow-up.
Accurately implements the orders of the referring physician.
Able to perform examinations of the Abdomen, Pelvis, OB, Small Parts & Vascular structures with accuracy.
Able to present ultrasound examinations to the Radiologist in a professional precise manner.
Assists patient to scanning table. Positions patient and equipment and utilizes the appropriate ultrasound devices, ultrasonic frequencies and appropriate transducers in accordance with the ultrasound procedure being performed. Immobilizes patients as required for appropriate examination.
Able to perform examinations in a timely manner.
Follows and documents scan protocol and/or Radiologist prescription of parameters without error.
Evaluates images for technical quality, assuring proper identification is recorded.
Prepares informed consent for, and assists Radiologist with interventional procedures; needle localizations, aspirations, and biopsies as requested.
Practices aseptic techniques as necessary.
Assists the Radiologist in reviewing the completed study as is applicable.
Completes all documentation, paperwork, imaging and archiving necessary to maintain patient file without omissions. Reports to physician and documents, without failure, any negative effects the patient may have experienced.
Completes Modality Worksheet with accurate information for the Radiologist.
Maintains high standards regarding the accurate recording of patient information.
Present high quality ultrasound images and pertinent patient history to radiologist for interpretation.
Utilizes accurate written and oral communications with patients, physicians, co-workers and supervisors.
Utilizes exemplary customer service skills with patient and family members.
Performs necessary computer functions associated with patient exam. Includes PACS.
Keeps work area and patient exam areas neat and stocked with appropriate supplies.
Participates in orientation and in-service training for personnel.
Maintains a professional demeanor with confidentiality.
Is prompt and efficient with minimal absences.
Cooperates and maintains good rapport with co-workers to ensure proper patient care and efficient workflow.
Able to travel to other sites.
Check work e-mail daily.
Maintain confidentiality of all center and patient information at all times, as required by facility policy and HIPAA guidelines.
Follow the center exposure controls plan for blood borne and airborne pathogens.
Perform all other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education/Work Experience
Graduate from an Accredited Diagnostic Ultrasound program required.
ARDMS registry eligible or Abdomen & OB/GYN preferred
Breast, Vascular, MSK, NT and pediatrics registries a plus/preferred.
Current BLS certification required.
Job Knowledge/Skills
Able to perform a variety of examinations pertaining to the Abdomen and Pelvis
Ability to perform OB (1st 2nd 3rd Trimester) Biophysical Profile, Small Parts (including but not limited to Breast, Scrotal & Thyroid)
Demonstrate an understanding of human anatomy, physics, physiology, pathology, pharmacology and medical terminology. Utilizing this knowledge, exercises precautions in patient applications respecting the biological effects between ultrasound and tissue.
Is thorough, accurate, uses sound judgment, and has good time management skills.
Demonstrates sincere interest in every patient and their well-being; must be sympathetic and empathetic with claustrophobic and any other patients requiring special care.
Uses appropriate communication style, language, and volume in clinic setting, whether communicating with peers, patients, vendors or others.
Ability to recognize urgent/emergent findings.
Ability to demonstrate effective customer service skills, using AIDET/4 As.

Physical Requirements
Work is classified as moderate in physical requirements. Must be able to assist in supporting patients of varying weight. Ability to stand, walk or sit for extended periods of time. Reaching by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction. Also requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator and other office equipment as necessary.
Mental Requirements
Work requires high attention to detail and the ability to handle mentally stressful situations. The ability to maintain high level of sensitivity towards confidential information is also required.
Working/Environmental Conditions
Work environment consists of normal office or administrative working conditions. There may be exposure to communicable diseases. There will be limited exposure to ionizing radiation.

Follows and documents scan protocol and/or Radiologist prescription of parameters without error.
Evaluates images for technical quality, assuring proper identification is recorded.
Prepare for sterile ultrasound-guided biopsy procedures by: identifying and gathering necessary supplies, unpacking and arranging items on a sterile tray, drawing lidocaine into a syringe, obtaining required media and documentation for pathology samples, organizing consent and release documents, and performing safe and comprehensive post-procedure cleaning and disinfecting.

· Scanning organs for early detection of cancer and other medical issues
· Will cross-train for Echo as needed
· Keep up with pending charts and properly export images per policy

Job Summary
The Echo/Vascular/Diagnostic Medical Sonographer is responsible for the independent operation of sonographic equipment, and for performing and communicating results of diagnostic examinations using sonography. The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer is responsible for daily operations of the sonographic department, patient schedule, equipment maintenance, the report of equipment failures, and quality assessment (QA). Required Education
* Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) is required.
Experience
* Three years of experience preferred.
* Experience with routine, vascular and OB and breast ultrasonography preferred
Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations
Active certification by American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in the specialty(ies) as appropriate preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
* Advanced working knowledge of sonography practices. Demonstrated competence in clinical skills; ability to perform, evaluate and teach required sonography tasks.
* Advanced working knowledge of sonography department operations and services.
