Job Description
Sampson Regional Medical Center is seeking a dedicated and skilled Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have experience in various clinical settings, including hospitals and outpatient facilities, and will be proficient in providing respiratory care to patients of all ages. This role requires a strong understanding of respiratory therapy principles, excellent patient assessment skills, and the ability to work effectively in high-pressure environments.

Requirements:
NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) and a graduate of an AMA approved Respiratory Care Technology Program.
Must Maintain current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications.
Must maintain current Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license by the State of North Carolina.
One (1) year of experience preferred
Essential Functions:
Administer respiratory therapy treatments and procedures to patients as prescribed by physicians.
Adequately performs nebulizer therapy, oxygen therapy, metered dose inhalers, pulmonary function tests, etc.
Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs monitoring and airway management.
Demonstrates correct intubation procedures.
Demonstrates ability to properly obtain routine and non-routine EKG's, obtaining acceptable tracings.
Demonstrates ability to properly obtain Arterial Blood Gas, assuring sample reaches the Laboratory promptly.
Operate and maintain ventilators and other respiratory equipment.
Collaborate with healthcare teams in acute care settings, including ICU, Med Surg, OB, and Emergency Department.
Provide education to patients and families regarding respiratory conditions and treatment plans.
Document patient progress and treatment outcomes accurately in medical records.
Ensure compliance with hospital policies, medical terminology standards, and safety protocols.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology related to respiratory care.
Experience in hospital medicine, critical care, pediatrics, geriatrics, and pulmonology.
Proficiency in basic life support techniques and advanced airway management skills.
Familiarity with ventilator management and patient assessment protocols.
Ability to work effectively in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Hours of Work:

Physical Requirements

smell, and touch. Finger dexterity, good motor, and eye-hand coordination. Requires
good personal hygiene and appropriate conduct. Must be able to speak English clearly.
Conditions of transport may vary and include exposure to extreme hot, cold and wet

employment. * Trauma Certification, ACLS, PALS, NRP and S.T.A.B.L.E. required
upon completion of orientation and maintained. Advanced certification to include
Adult Critical Care Specialty (ACCS) or equivalent as approved required to maintain
position according to standards of commission on accreditation of medical transport
systems (CAMTS). Aviation training required or flight status and must meet

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Graduate of an AMA approved two or four-year program for respiratory care or satisfies the requirements as outlined in the admissions policies of the NBRC for registry examinations. No experience required for beginning practitioners.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION:
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) and licensed to practice as a RCP in the state of North Carolina required. Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Peds: PALS and NRP required within 90 days of employment. Adult: ACLS required within 90 days of employment.

JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for the transport of neonates and pediatric patients from referral facilities by air and ground to Brenner Children's Hospital following Office of Emergency Medical Services (NCOEMS) guidelines. Performs advanced practice skills as needed and collaborates with multidisciplinary team members to provide quality age/developmentally appropriate care.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Graduate of an AMA approved two or four year program for respiratory care, or satisfies the requirements in the admissions policies of the NBRC for registry examinations. Two years' experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist and two years' clinical experience with critical care patients (neonatal / pediatric preferred).
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION:
Maintains competency assessments required for specific roles. Required: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), licensed to practice as an RCP in the state of North Carolina, current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) OR Pediatric ITLS. Preferred: AARC Certification as Neonatal Pediatric Specialist (NPS).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Adheres to general hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships and team building. 2. Meets patient care standards to optimize patient outcomes. 3. Promotes a safe and supportive environment during transport for all passengers in the transport vehicle, i.e., patient, crew and drivers. 4. Provides respiratory therapies following age-appropriate standards of care and departmental guidelines. Performs and maintains competency for point-of-care testing, as assigned, ensuring compliance with WFBH policies and with applicable state and federal regulations. 5. Completes documentation requirements for patient record and billing. Reports information to relief personnel to ensure continuity of care for the patient. 6. Provides educational enhancement to allied health practitioners. 7. Ensures age/developmentally appropriate patient care is provided in accordance with Age-Specific Care Guidelines for the specific age groups served. 8. Attends all required in-services, staff meetings, and team conferences.
