    • Medical/Security Patrol: Will patrol campus and respond to Independent Living PET (resident personal safety alarms), Pull Cords, and Emergency calls on campus. You will receive basic medical training to respond while nursing team or local EMT is on the way. • Welcome Center/Gate House: Will respond to calls, verify visitors, ensure appropriate credentials, provide directions, contact patrol team for dispatch purposes, maintain gatehouse logs, etc. Status Non-Exempt Job Relationships Reports to the Security Supervisor and works closely with the Nursing Department. Duties and Responsibilities Performs Security/Medical Responder Duties: 1. Continuously patrols neighborhoods by vehicle and foot when not engaged in dispatch calls. 2. Checks on buildings and equipment when concerns arise or on scheduled basis. 3. Responds to Wanderguard door checks. 4. Supports parking at events and manages traffic. Also reports or notifies those not driving safely. 5. Responds promptly to all IL emergency and PET/PC calls. 6. Assesses need to call in outside support (911). Contacts 911 if appropriate and Nursing (immediately for any situation requiring CPR.) 7. Provides care permitted through scope of practice training. 8. Documents each emergency call in the Electronic Medical Record. 9. Monitors fire alarms, cameras, and all emergency codes. 10. Responds to unlocks, escorts, direct traffic, and other forms of support. 11. Performs light maintenance duties after hours and on weekends when maintenance is not scheduled, including but not limited to: shutting off water, helping with TVs/remotes, changing light bulbs, plunging sinks/toilets. 12. Helps with snow removal if needed. Performs Gatehouse/Welcome Center Duties: 1. Greets residents, staff and visitors. 2. Monitors and enforces security requirements at gate, signing in visitors and contacting residents or staff if unsure if an individual should be permitted onsite. Monitors Aldersgate entrance remotely for resident and guest access. 3. Provides directions to visitors. 4. Responds to calls and questions. 5. Completes various logs and audits as directed. 6. Maintains communication between security patrol, maintenance, and residents after hours regarding maintenance issues. 7. Will enforce gate access by signing in visitors and non-resident. 8. Monitors remote door access and allows access after hours. 9. Provides reports and camera footage as needed to support investigations or concerns. 10. Monitors weather radio for severe weather. In case of severe weather, security will alert nurses and aid in decision-making for the safety of residents and staff. Typical Physical Demands 1. Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time. 2. Must be able to manage exposure to severe weather. Must report to work even in inclement weather. 3. Must be able to manage considerable amounts of stress. 4. Must be able to lift at least 30 lbs. 5. Must be able to operate medical equipment/devices) portable lifts, etc.). Strong verbal communication skills and direction giving skills. 5. The ability to read, write, understand, and speak English. Minimum Education High School Diploma or equivalent. Minimum Experience At least two years' experience preferred in security or similar background, and dealing with customers. Medical experience helpful. License and/or Certification Required 1. NC Driver's License and pass company MVR check. Demonstrated safe driving record. 2. Must have current First Aid/CPR/AED certification or obtain certification within the first 3 months of employment and maintain these certifications throughout employment at Arbor Acres. The hours for this role will be 7 am - 3:30 pm with a weekend rotation. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Patrol community premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, equipment and vehicles. Correct or report safety hazards. Confront unauthorized persons to determine their purpose and/or ask them to leave. Contact the proper authorities to have them escorted from the property, if necessary. Write reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons or unusual occurrences. Initiate work orders and/or document security issues. Send daily shift report to designated personnel. Answer phone calls, take messages, answer questions, and provide information to residents during business hours or when concierge is off-duty. Respond to fire alarms by investigating locations and accompanying the fire department through the facility. Notify police in case of suspicious activity. Operate under the Medical Director's authorized medical protocols. Dispatch ambulance or non-emergency medical transportation as needed. Pick up and dispose of trash as needed. Responds to service calls, such as combative or threatening patients or visitors and team member incidents. * Serves as a primary resource for de-escalation, utilizing use of force when necessary (e.g. conducted electrical weapon (CEW), handcuffing.) * Performs key responsibilities to plan, prevent, practice, and respond to emergencies such as lost or abducted infants/children, fire, and active threats. * Responds immediately to emergency and crisis situations; physically intervenes in accordance with training to situations that have a potential for injury. * Investigates incidents that occur on Advocate Health property and completes timely and accurate reports. Addresses and escalates complaints to the appropriate leader and provides supporting documentation. * Performs liaison rounding duties to cultivate close partnerships with all departments and units. Delivers security awareness education to team members to leverage their assistance in the overall security of the site. * Liaisons with federal, state, and local law enforcement and first responder agencies. Coordinates, briefs, and monitors every law enforcement prisoner patient guard to ensure policy compliance and prevent unsafe practices. * Maintains current Department training standards in radio communications, verbal de-escalation, hemorrhage control (e.g. "STOP the BLEED"), CPR, application of clinical restraints, conducted energy weapon (e.g. TASER), to include training on any/all department-issued equipment and/or requirements identified in training academy and the Annual Training Plan. * Assists with exterior traffic and crowd control, including parking enforcement, valet parking assist, and vehicular assistance. Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required: * Security Officer Healthcare Certification (CHSO) issued by the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) must be obtained on a one-time basis within two years of appointment to this role. Recertification is not required. * For North Carolina teammates, an Unarmed Guard License issued by NC Protective Services must be obtained within 1 year and maintained through training and competency assessments. * Stop the Bleed Certification must be obtained within 1 year of hire date. * A valid driver's license issued by the Division of Motor Vehicle. * Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) Card issued by the Illinois State Police or Concealed Carry Weapon (CCW) license issued by the Department of Justice (DOJ). * Certified in Conducted Energy Weapon (e.g. TASER) use within 90 days of hire and periodically thereafter. Education Required: * High school graduate or GED Experience Required: * Typically requires 1 years of experience in a security, related public safety, or customer service area that includes experiences in responding to emergent situations and identifying and resolving issues that pose a potential risk to patients, visitors, teammates and/or property. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: * Must sit, stand, walk, and drive throughout the workday and must lift up to 35 lbs. occasionally. Must be able to push/pull with 35 lbs. of force. * Have 20/20 vision in both eyes or correctable to 20/20 with corrective lenses in both eyes. * May be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, explosive, and radiation hazards. Protective clothing must be worn as necessary. * Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job. * Frequent exposure to aggressive behavior and emotionally charged situations. * Must be able to handle personal stress and possible violence. * Must be physically fit and able to walk all areas of the facilities and grounds, to restrain those who need restraint and be able to assist clinical teammates with lifting patients of all sizes.
