In this role, you will:
Influence a team of engineers on our Video-Safety products and Vehicle-Gateway, solving complex technical problems, guiding architectural tradeoffs, improving quality, and owning key aspects of our tech stack.
Assume ownership in maintaining the production systems managed by your team and provide operational support and supervision when necessary.
Participate in roadmap planning sessions, collaborating with cross functional peers to define key areas of our roadmap and the technical direction and priorities for Safety products, including tooling and release infrastructure, automated test strategy.

Minimum requirements for the role:
6+ years of relevant experience in embedded software development, preferably with a focus on embedded Linux systems.
Strong experience in programming with Golang, C/C++, or similar.
Proven experience defining and implementing scalable embedded software architecture.
Proven experience planning, designing, scoping and delivering complex, multi-team, or cross-system long-term projects, involving external dependencies
A desire to mentor and grow engineers of all levels.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work with senior executives as well as junior engineers.
Commitment to rigorous testing & validation practices.

About the position:
E Ink's Development Group is looking for an experienced Coating Engineer to join the Coating and Lamination Process development team. As a member of this team, this individual will work on next generation ePaper products that support our mission of Making Surfaces Smarter and Green. The Coating Engineer will be responsible for developing innovative coating and lamination solutions for E Ink's unique materials. Working within cross functional project teams, this individual will be responsible for planning and executing complex pilot and production-scale experiments to develop creative coating and lamination solutions.
Job Responsibilities:
Provide technical leadership and strategic direction in implementing a wide range of coating application methods to support new design and materials introduction into the next generation of ePaper devices
Act as a subject-matter expert and mentor, interacting across multiple groups to define coating requirements of new materials, including fluids and coating substrate materials, and develop and demonstrate process capabilities for these requirements
Demonstrate fundamental relationships between process variables and device performance, with the goal of using what is learned for scale-up to production scale
Lead the design, management, and coordination of experiments on pilot scale roll-to-roll coating equipment
Conduct film characterizations to verify experimental formulations as they relate to electro-optical metrics and coating-related defects
Guide and collaborate with engineers and technicians, providing high-level troubleshooting expertise and issue reports
Drive documentation, best practices, and process transfer from Development to Production, ensuring scalability and manufacturability
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Materials Science, or Mechanical Engineering with 10 years of experience, OR Master's/PhD with 5+ years of experience in roll-to-roll processes and coating technology
Expertise in a wide range of coating applications such as Slot Die, Gravure, Blade, and multilayer laminating techniques
Knowledge of Design of Experiments and Statistical Analysis
Strong familiarity with rheological and mechanical measurement techniques
Proficiency with Microsoft Office software, JMP or other statistical analysis tools
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, a strong sense of urgency and a performance metrics-driven style
Sound analytical skills, attention to detail, and strong problem-solving skills
Ability to set priorities, drive complex projects with minimal oversight, and adapt to evolving business needs
Experience collaborating with external partners, production sites and suppliers
Preferences:
Hands on experience in 3D modeling, tool design and fabrication
Experience in process design, hardware testing, and equipment troubleshooting
Track record of patents, publications, or significant technical contributions in coating and lamination technologies

Responsibilities
Advising the Space Systems Command PEO and SSIO leadership on technical and analytical approaches, architecture analysis, systems engineering, and development of future space and ground C2 and tasking, collection, processing, exploitation, and dissemination (TCPED) systems for DoD customers.
Operate as an individual contributor and collaborate with a team of high-performing Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), Operations Research Analysts, and software developers that directly support the Government through lifecycle systems engineering and management processes to deliver critical space capabilities.
Provide oversight of acquisitions, technologies, and studies with specific focus on the system engineering processes to ensure end-to-end system closure and satisfaction of mission needs/requirements.
Developing analytic plans and defining analytic tasks needed to understand space domain awareness (SDA) and Combat Power mission needs and refine architecture roadmaps.
Analyzing mission data flows supporting closure of SSC kill chains to include data formats, latencies, and system connections.
Helping modernize space and ground system architectures for the future space enterprise.
Organize and lead efforts across multiple simultaneous studies and/or tasked efforts.
Frequently interact and develop productive relationships with program managers, SETAs, FFRDCs, and external stakeholders.
Support risk management processes and methods for identifying, assessing, and adjudicating program risk; Conduct analysis to identify program risk areas and recommend/implement mitigation approaches and lead tasks to closure.

Qualifications
Required
Bachelor's degree in a STEM field with 17+ years of professional experience or master's degree in a STEM field with 15+ years of professional experience.
Significant background in systems engineering, SDA (both space-based and ground-based) and Combat Power systems development and acquisition, analysis, operations, and/or satellite ground architectures.
Space domain experience and understanding in SDA and Combat Power system operations, systems engineering, or developing, analyzing SDA and Combat Power systems.
Able to work independently and thrive and work collaboratively across disciplines in a fast paced, dynamic, and small team environment.
Strong organization and communication skills, verbal and written.
Proven ability to work within integrated Government, FFRDC, and SETA teams.

Requirements:
Education and Experience:
