1971

Samson Investment Co. was founded in 1971 in Tulsa by Charles Schusterman.

1986

In 1986, Samson Investment Company was incorporated to be the holding company for the various Samson entities.

2000

Schusterman passed away in December, 2000.

2005

In January 2005, it completed its largest acquisition yet in the San Juan Basin and began pursuing opportunities in the Bakken and Powder River Basin regions of the Rocky Mountains.

2011

By 2011, the company owned and operated more than 11,000 wells in 17 states, producing about 116,000 barrels of oil (equivalent) daily from about 2 million acres of holdings.

By its 40th anniversary in 2011, Samson had grown to be the largest privately held oil and gas company headquartered in the United States.

2020

An Oklahoma City-based financial analyst who follows the energy industry said Tuesday he expects more of the same as the fallout continues from the 2020 dumpster fire the energy industry endured.
