Ensures the safety, potency and purity of all products collected, by making certain that all work completed is in full compliance with departmental and organizational policies. Assists with the rescheduling and retention of donors, through outstanding customer service and care. Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, is responsible for:
Donor safety and the safety, potency and purity of all products collected.
Adverse reactions / complications, for those procedures in which trained and assisting with the management and documentation of such events, as directed and within sphere of competence. Activating the EMS system as appropriate / directed.
Updating the Registered Nurse / Team Leader /Donor Operations Supervisor/ Manager as necessary and following SOP.
Actively supports organizational strategic goals and donor, marketing and staff recognition and retention programs.
Follows the Daily Collection Plan, converts to automated collections as required and works towards goal by optimizing collections and actively rescheduling donors.
Supports and complies with organizational affirmative action policy.
Performs all duties in a professional manner, always projecting a positive role model image.
Maintains an awareness of legal implications of all work being performed.
Reviews and completes Safety, cGMP, competency requirements, assignments, SOPs, memos, and other assigned tasks in a timely manner.
Complies with SOP and performs all assigned activities and maintains competency for areas in which they are trained.
Maintains open communication channels and communicates effectively and professionally. Checks company email at least once per day when on duty.
Maintains professional growth and development; increases job knowledge through continuing education via in-service meetings, NCW Education Days, etc. and reviews current literature to further strengthen working knowledge and a solid industry background and to keep abreast of latest trends in the field.
May need to drive company vehicles, for which they are licensed, as directed.
Loads, unloads and sets up equipment, signage, banners and supplies and ensures all required items are on hand.
Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
Physical Requirements
Light to medium lifting required, up to 45 lbs., seeking assistance and using provided equipment, such as cart, lift gate, etc., when necessary / indicated.
Perform body motions such as; keyboard data input, bending, kneeling, crouching, stooping, twisting, stretching, reaching, climbing, lifting, pushing, pulling, grasping and gripping in the ergonomically correct manner.
Ability to climb steps on bloodmobiles.
Ability to walk, stand or sit for extended periods of time without a significant rest period.
Ability to work often in small, cramped or confined spaces.
Ability to assist with lifting and moving of donors.
Ability to use equipment that requires a high degree of dexterity.
Ability to communicate clearly.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
Medical Assistant or Phlebotomy Certification preferred but not essential

(Job Summary) The Director, Clinical Laboratories reports to the Chief Medical Officer /CLIA Laboratory Director and is responsible for facilitating the design and implementation of the delivery of laboratory services, developing and recommending strategies to improve services and clinical outcomes, reaching established goals, maintaining satisfactory outcomes and contributing to the business plans and financial goals of the organization.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE

(Minimum Qualifications) Education:
California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS), M.D., Ph.D., or M.D./Ph.D. (doctoral-degree scientist). Advanced degree (master's or doctoral) in relevant scientific discipline preferred for CLS-licensed candidates.
Certifications/Licenses:
Current Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license issued by the California Department of Public Health, Laboratory Field Services (required for non-physician candidates).
Board certification in Anatomic Pathololgy, Clinical Pathology or combined Anatomic/Clinical Pathology (required for M.D. and M.D./Ph.D. candidates)

Experience:
Eight (8) years of progressively responsible and demonstrated experience in high level management at a reference or health system laboratory preferred.
Experience should include participation in U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), State, Federal, and accrediting agency inspections, knowledge of regulatory accreditation and licensing requirements, and application of quality assurance principles.
Additional experience in transfusion medicine, blood bank services, cellular therapy services, umbilical cord blood banking, molecular testing, therapeutic apheresis service and/or translational or clinical research preferred. Background in laboratory developed molecular diagnostics, and/or next generation sequencing are particularly sought.
Experience serving as laboratory director, general supervisor, technical supervisor, clinical consultant, and/or technical consultant preferred.
Skills:
Knowledge of operational characteristics, services and activities of a quality program and in principles and practices used in healthcare/laboratory management, governmental compliance, internal audits, risk management, or regulatory affairs.

The San Diego Blood Bank is seeking a highly motivated individual to help save lives. As part of the donor recruitment team, you will spend time calling previous donors and securing their commitment to come back. Your job is to increase the number of times donors come in a year and secure commitments to different types of donations, such as platelets and plasma. You will share special offers and needs at various points in the calendar year. Also, you provide a strong customer experience for each donor, ensuring their commitment to SDBB.

Place a high volume of outbound calls and meet daily, weekly and monthly goals using a preview dialing system.
Overcome barriers such as fear due to previous experience, hectic schedules, lack of commitment, and commitments to other causes.
Utilize sales training methods to have unique conversations with donors, listening to their concerns and overcoming barriers on the spot.
Contact donors who have lapsed and get them to come back.
Convert donors to increased numbers of donations per year and new donation types.
Increase number of donations from certain blood types. For example, ensure the proper level of O- blood type, which is only 6 percent of the population but a much higher need.
Maintain donor records and accurately update demographic and master file information.
Provide donors with accurate information regarding their donation opportunities, donation history, sites and contacts.
Participate in special calling projects and mailings.
Attend team and department meetings.

Follows the Daily Collection Plan, converts to automated collections as required and works towards goal by optimizing collections and actively rescheduling donors.

Reviews and completes Safety, cGMP, competency requirements, assignments, SOPs, memos, and other assigned tasks in a timely manner.

Will need to drive company vehicles, for which they are licensed, as directed.
Loads, unloads and sets up equipment, signage, banners and supplies and ensures all required items are on hand.
Class B Drivers:
Functional reporting to the Hospital Services Department for Class B licensure management / criteria issues.
Adheres to Class B Driver regulations and maintains a clean driving record.
Properly transport and secure all hazardous waste, blood units, test tubes, and temperature controlled supplies before, during and after the blood drive.
Perform daily vehicle preventative maintenance inspections.
Use correct judgment for when a vehicle can and cannot be safely driven.
Accurately completes applicable paper work and check lists.
Park and setup at designated sites in a safe and level location.
Ensures signage and banners are set up appropriately.
Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
Working Environment
Subject to varying and unpredictable days and hours, including some weekends.
Subject to assignment to a variety of sites (Fixed Sites, Mobile Busses, room setups, indoor/outdoor, etc.) with various temperatures and lighting conditions.
Subject to driving suitable, well-maintained vehicles on surface streets and highways in various traffic and weather conditions.
May require traversing stairs, slopes, elevators, escalators in a variety of cargo / loading dock environments.
Subject to risk of possible exposure to blood borne pathogens.
