JOB SUMMARY
Recommend and assist access to medical, educational, social, vocational, housing, and more to support program goals. Initiate referrals to next level care, coordinate with physical health providers for whole-person care, and advocate in the best interest of clients.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Shift coverage including part of the on-call team.

QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree; or bachelor's degree with four years of experience in social services.
For SUD CM a certification from recognized board is preferred and registration required.
For Housing two years of experience and an AA degree in social service or related field or High School Diploma and 5 years' experience.
Valid CA driver's license and current auto insurance per contract requirements required.
Experience providing mental health and/or substance use disorder services preferred.
Cultural competency understanding required.
Bilingual preferred.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office and EHR software preferred.

The Patient's' Rights Advocate (PRA) provides advocacy services to, and investigate complaints regarding abuse and denials of rights of, state hospital patient's, provides trainings to both the hospital staff and residents, and represents patient's at hearings on site involving involuntary medication on or at other due process hearings. This position provides services in the field is 50% of the time.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensure state hospital residents are notified of their rights and provide informational presentations to residents regarding their rights.

Advocate for residents who are unable to register a complaint because of their physical or mental health conditions.
Participate in all unit meetings, trainings, functions, and communications.
Monitor facility programs and services for compliance with patients' rights laws, regulations and procedures as directed.
Participation in outreach activities to minority and underserved populations.
Provide advocacy services
Conduct unit visits on a weekly basis.
Possess working knowledge and understanding of the mental health and criminal justice systems.
Experience working with and a sensitivity to the rights of persons with disabilities.
Knowledge of working with and a sensitivity to persons from multi-ethnic communities.
Skilled in direct advocacy for persons with psychiatric disabilities.
Working knowledge of the legal, civil, and service rights of persons with psychiatric disabilities in California.
Experience with the mental health system as a current or former consumer/or with family member, significant other.

Comply with all MHS and program rules, policies and procedures including HIPAA standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in a related field. Four (4) years direct life experience as a mental health consumer or four (4) years of experience as a consumer advocate may be substituted in lieu of the bachelor's degree (i.e., social work, counseling, self-help).
Two (2) years of experience as a consumer advocate within the social, human service, government, or health care environment. (If using experience in lieu of Bachelor's degree, this qualification has been met).
Involvement with disability organizations and/or within disability communities.
Valid CA Drivers License and vehicle insurance required.
Proficient user of Microsoft Office Suite and EHR software.
Ability to problem solve and react appropriately to emergency situations.
Ability to work independently and effectively collaborate with a team.

• Provide individual supportive coaching in all areas of clients' life.
• Perform psychosocial and risk assessments and maintains a daily log of client contacts.
• Provide support to all clients including on-call crisis intervention covering nighttime and weekend hours.
• Conduct and oversee psychoeducational groups as directed by Program Manager.
• Perform shift management duties in coordination with other staff as directed by Program Manager.
• Function as a liaison between client, program, and federal Probation Officer.
• Comply with all charting and documentation requirements per contract, funding agency, and TURN policy.
• Prepare critical care issues for discussion during supervision and Daily Organizational Staff Meetings.
• Collect necessary client demographic data and enters it on the TURN Treatment Team Services Data Collections Form.
• Provide information about the program to community agencies connected to the mental and substance abuse services system.
• Comply with all TURN and program rules, policies and procedures including HIPAA standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Master's degree in a behavioral science and a background of experience providing clinical services to individuals with Substance Use Disorders and CA BBS registration or license (MFT, LCSW, LPCC) required.
• Valid CA driver's license and current auto insurance per contract requirements required.
• Experience providing mental health and/or substance use disorder services preferred.
• Cultural competency understanding required.
• Bilingual preferred.
• Ability to problem solve and react appropriately to emergency situations.
• Ability to work independently and effectively collaborate with a team.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and EHR software preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Role:
Under the supervision of the AC Mental Health Program Director and the Program Manager, the Clinician has the primary responsibility for providing direct mental health services to children birth to eight years old and their families. Services include: assessment; development of a family-centered treatment plan; providing developmentally appropriate mental health treatment; coordination of care with child welfare workers, parents, resource parents, and other collaterals; maintaining a written record of treatment, including initial assessments and treatment plans.?Starting pay is commensurate with relevant experience above the minimum requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Direct therapeutic client care in-home or the community for children birth through eight years and their families in addition to targeted case management, as appropriate.
Be linguistically competent and culturally responsive
Attend appropriate meetings, which include weekly individual and group supervision, staff meetings, and other required trainings
Obtain consent for treatment from the child welfare worker, where appropriate
Monitor eligibility and obtain authorizations where appropriate.
Through regularly scheduled sessions, provide psychotherapy, intensive clinical case management, and crisis intervention, to assigned children and families. Work with various modalities including individual, dyadic, and family therapy. Conduct assessments, diagnoses, and treatment plans in collaboration with clients, caregivers, and other providers. Provide appropriate mental health services.
Meet minimum productivity of 50% of service provider's time
Use time-management skills and supervisory support to meet productivity, documentation, and timeliness requirements.
Follow regulatory guidelines, mandated reporting, and program/agency protocols in performing duties
Participate in all mandatory trainings, including those required at onboarding and throughout the year, to maintain compliance and support ongoing professional development.
Participate in regular competency and performance evaluations to support professional development, ensure role effectiveness, and maintain alignment with program and organizational standards.
Abide by all provisions of the ABW personnel manual
Perform any other duties as directed.
Qualifications and Characteristics Desired:
MSW, MA/MS, PhD or PsyD from an accredited school of social work or psychology. Must be licensed or registered with BBS or BOP.
Excellent clinical and writing skills.
Direct experience working with diverse racial and ethnic populations
Understanding of basic theoretical and developmental principles of infants, early childhood, and family mental health
Ability to understand psychological assessment reports; psychological assessment experience a plus for psychologist applicants
Understand and desire to work with a strength-based mental health approach
Knowledge, understanding, and willingness to work with interdisciplinary approaches and partnerships
Understanding of DSM and corresponding ICD-10 codes, and how to crosswalk diagnoses from DC: 0-5
Ability to work independently and to work as a member of a team
Excellent organizational, computer and communication skills.
Ability to pass various background checks needed to work with children
Must have a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, a clean driving record, and maintain current auto insurance
All community-based staff may occasionally transport clients and families when appropriate for the purposes of the therapeutic goals.
Work Environment
This role is primarily performed in an office setting, in the community, and/or through video meetings. In-person attendance is required for staff meetings, supervision, or other job-related responsibilities. The frequency of on-site work may vary depending on role requirements and departmental needs. In-person attendance is typically required for client sessions unless alternate arrangements are required or requested. Remote work privileges vary by role and are subject to supervisor's approval.
