At the end of 1949, it was announced that the AAFC had run its course.

Although only an average athlete, Walsh entered coaching upon his graduation from San Jose State in 1955.

On October 27, 1957, the 49ers hosted the Chicago Bears at Kezar.

San Francisco began a string of 12 consecutive seasons without a playoff berth in 1958.

In 1968, the team released a new logo that featured an oval-shaped background signifying a football.

In 1971, the 49ers moved their home games from antiquated Kezar Stadium to 68,491-seat Candlestick Park.

The first wordmark logo was released in 1972 and featured the deep red characters spelling out the team’s nickname.

There he served as end and quarterback coach under Paul Brown through 1975, earning praise for developing Ken Anderson into a star quarterback.

The 1985 redesign saw a minor change being made to the logo.

The 40th anniversary of the San Francisco 49ers was celebrated in the year 1986, which featured a new team logo for that year, commemorating this achievement.

Since 1988, the 49ers have been headquartered in Santa Clara.

The game was played on January 22, 1989, at Joe Robbie Stadium in Miami, Florida, the first Super Bowl hosted in the Miami area in 10 years, and the first in Miami not held at the Orange Bowl.

Played on January 28, 1990, at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana, the 49ers defeated the Broncos by the score of 55–10, winning their second consecutive Super Bowl, and tying the Pittsburgh Steelers with four Super Bowl victories.

An injury to Montana in 1991 gave Steve Young an opportunity to step in as the 49ers’ starting quarterback.

Walsh was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1993.

The golden jubilee for the team occurred in 1996, for which a new commemorative logo was designed.

The 2005 redesign of the wordmark logo was done to upgrade the design per modern graphic design trends to make it more relevant to that era’s fans.

The 2006 commemorative 49ers logo was used to celebrate six decades in the NFL. It featured a different design from the previous iterations.

The 2009 redesign kept the design mostly the same, with minor changes to the shades of the colors used.

Following the 2013 season, the 49ers returned to a third consecutive NFC championship game (the third time that the franchise had hit that mark of sustained excellence in its history), but the team lost a close contest to its division-rival Seattle Seahawks.

In 2014 the 49ers moved 48 miles (77 km) southeast of their namesake city to a new stadium and team headquarters in Santa Clara.

Even the National Football League created a new commemorative logo for its 100th anniversary, which was part of all player uniforms and the game balls during the 2019 season.
