The Aviation and Technology Department at San José State University offers a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology (BS Industrial Technology). The Department also provides a Master of Science in Quality Assurance (MSQA) for students wishing to pursue a graduate-level degree.
The Industrial Technology Program offers two (2) concentrations, namely, Manufacturing Systems (Mfg), and Computer Network System Management (CNSM). The Program enrollment consists of 450 students.
The Technology Program's state-of-the art laboratories include Cisco Systems Internet of Things (IoT) Lab (30 stations), the Virtual and Simulation Network Lab (40 stations), the Advanced Manufacturing Lab equipped with several Haas CNC machines (3 stations), and 3D Printers (12 stations). The Control and Automation Lab is equipped with various Omron Automated Guided Vehicles and Robotic Conveyor Systems, 40 Workstations with simulation software. Program emphasis hands-on education where most classes are complemented with a laboratory session.
Students in Technology Programs can gain internships and earn credits (Tech 195). Undergraduate students are strongly encouraged to participate in individual research projects, collaborating with department faculty to gain experience in conducting research, providing motivation for pursuing graduate studies (Tech 180).
Department relies on its own students to take leads in supervising laboratory sessions, and assist faculty in laboratory development and grading.

Brief Description of Duties
Demonstrate awareness of and address the needs of a student population of great diversity-including age, abilities, cultural background, ethnicity, religion, economic background, primary language, sexual orientation, gender identity, and academic preparation-through inclusive course materials, teaching strategies and advisement.
Faculty shall organize all their classes within the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS).
All classes must be offered and meet as scheduled throughout the entire semester or term, in the mode assigned and listed in the schedule of classes (i.e., asynchronous, synchronous, bichronous, in-person, or hybrid).
Lecturers are expected to work with the Department Chair and Course Coordinators to develop their courses materials to teach courses effectively; to maintain appropriate office hours in accordance with University Policy; and to cooperate with the department in the peer-review process. Lecturers are strongly encouraged to seek guidance from Department Chair for clarification of University policies and department practices with respect to grading, testing, textbooks, office hours, curriculum goals, disability accommodations, academic integrity, etc.
Required Qualifications
Depending on the program to teach courses in, PhD and MS degrees in the field or related areas are required. Under exceptional cases, a BS degree with several years of experience would suffice the requirement. Industry experience is highly desirable.
Knowledge of the subject matter of the discipline to which the individual is assigned.
Evidence of satisfactory achievement in previous academic work.
Applicants should demonstrate an awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural population as might have been gained in cross-cultural study, training, teaching and other comparable experience.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must have a juris doctorate degree (or higher) in law from an accredited United States institution and must be qualified as a scholarly academic under AACSB standards. ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Agricultural Education and Communication Department at Cal Poly has approximately 260 undergraduate students, 155 Master's Degree candidates, and eight full-time faculty who teach in the areas of teacher education and agricultural communications. Cal Poly produces nearly half of all of the newly credentialed Agriculture teachers for the state of California each year. Graduates of the department have proven to be effective leaders in secondary, post-secondary, and higher education, not only in California, but throughout the United States. Cal Poly is viewed as the "home" for agricultural education in California. The State FFA Judging Finals and the Summer Conference for the California Agricultural teachers' Association have been held on the Cal Poly campus for over ninety years. The Brock Center for Agricultural Communication is housed within the Agricultural Education and Communication Department, and serves as the laboratory for students to develop their writing, social media, and verbal communication skills. The Brock Center produces a quarterly magazine, the Ag Circle, for the College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Science. Ag Communication students are active nationally by attending the Ag Media Summit each year, and have earned numerous awards in national competition, including the "Outstanding Publication" for the Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow organization.

In addition, we also train students who are pursuing a single subject credential in Mathematics. * We invite applications for a pool of part-time lecturers, should an opening arise, to teach undergraduate courses in mathematics, applied mathematics or statistics. The number of positions varies from semester to semester, depending on the needs of the Department. The pool will remain in place for two calendar years; those interested in remaining in the pool beyond that time must reapply.
* We are seeking outstanding lecturers who can use a variety of high impact pedagogical approaches and who have very strong mathematical backgrounds and abilities. Excellence in teaching is expected as well as good oral and written communication skills. Positions start at the beginning of a semester and appointments may be renewed based on department need, funding, and performance.

Candidates should demonstrate their ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse student population, including first-generation college students.
Licensed Speech and Language Pathologist or Audiologist with ASHA-CCC and State of California Licensure.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to those with significant teaching experience in working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive and inclusive environment.
Preference will also be given to SLPs who are bilingual for clinical supervision

Position Description
The Department of Communication Studies at San José State University is pleased to announce a search for an AssistantProfessor in Critical Digital Communication beginning in August 2026. We invite applications from scholars whose research explores the cultural, political, and social dimensions of digital technologies-especially artificial intelligence-through intersectional frameworks (e.g., race, gender, sexuality, class, ability). We are particularly interested in candidates who approach digital communication from a human-centered lens including but not limited to critical, decolonial, feminist, or community-based perspectives, and who integrate these approaches into their pedagogical practices as well as in more applied spaces such as organizational and health settings with an activist orientation. The ideal candidate will contribute to both our undergraduate and graduate curricula and help lead conversations around the ethical and pedagogical implications of emergent technologies, particularly as they affect historically marginalized communities.

Required Qualifications
Ph.D. in Communication Studies, Digital/Media Studies, Critical Pedagogy, or a closely related field (completed by time of appointment)
Evidence of a well-defined and active research agenda demonstrated through peer-reviewed publications and presentations
Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching, including inclusive and equity-minded pedagogy
Ability to teach existing courses in the department and develop new courses in the candidate's areas of expertise
Applicants should demonstrate an awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a socially and economically diverse student population as might have been gained in cross-cultural study, training, teaching, and other comparable experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Priority will be given to candidates who possess one or more of the following:
Strong record of teaching excellence, teaching experience, and a record of service.
Research and/or community engagement addressing the impacts of AI on historically marginalized communities.
Scholarly or teaching engagement with the intersections of technology, race, gender, and power.
Background in decolonial, feminist, queer, or critical race theories as they relate to technology and communication.
Experience in digital media production, critical digital literacy, or technology-centered activism.
Experience or interest in developing curriculum related to AI, ethics, and society.
Key Responsibilities
Teach and develop undergraduate and graduate courses in communication studies, including core and elective offerings.
Maintain an active research agenda leading to peer-reviewed publications and/or public scholarship.
Engage in service to the department, college, university, and the broader community.
Advise and mentor students, including supervising graduate theses or projects.
The candidate will participate in shared governance, usually in department, college, and university committees and other service assignments.
Faculty shall organize all their classes within the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS).
The candidate must demonstrate awareness and experience in understanding the needs of a student population of great diversity - in age, abilities, cultural background, ethnicity, religion, economic background, primary language, sexual orientation, gender identity, and academic preparation - through inclusive course materials, teaching strategies, and advisement.
