Job Summary: The mission of the Level Sander is to prep all surfaces of the guitar for its final two coats of lacquer. They are responsible for levelling the original seven coats of lacquer using fine grit sandpaper. Level sanding requires a light touch and an eye for detail, as any defect in the lacquer that proceeds past this point will be magnified by additional coats. This position if a key element in process of producing an aesthetically pleasing end product.
Essential Functions:

* Learn and execute standard operating procedures
* Must be able to lift, move, and level sand a guitar in an average of 10 minutes.
* After training is complete, (3 weeks) a level sander will sand 4-6 guitars per hour, roughly 30 guitars in an 8 hour shift.
* 95% pass rate based on production requirements
* Understands and meets quality standards (Specs.)
* Maintains product flow at appropriate rate
* Adheres to department protocols (5S and Safety)

Required Skills/Abilities:

* Strong attention to detail.
* Outstanding time management skillset with the ability to prioritize without direct supervision.
* Develop a strong understanding of all guitar models.

Education and Experience:

* Results oriented and driven, with a track record for delivering to plan.
* Must be 18 years of age or older.

Physical Demands:

* Must be able to stand all day and lift guitars throughout the day.

The Sander will work exclusively in the sanding pre/post paint production process. The Sander will be responsible for the sanding and semi-finishing of electric guitar bodies. Sanding will be done in an up/down motion and counterclockwise motion; more specifically, the incumbent will be responsible for manually sanding guitars, quality control of production, make very minor corrections to irregularities and cleanup of immediate work area.

The Sander/Buffer will sand/buff guitar necks and bodies to product specifications to ensure quality finished product. The employee will be required to use hand tools (manual air sander, buffing machine, multiple sandpaper grade...etc.) to perform essential job functions. Employee is regularly required to stand, occasionally walk, use hands to handle, grip, grasp, and feel; reach with hands and arms. The employee must regularly lift and /or move guitar necks and/or bodies to next workstation process. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision to inspect necks, bodies and paint coating for contamination or damage. Perform repairs as needed to remove finish imperfections as assigned. Ability to adhere to procedures for different topcoat finishes.
Knowledge/Requirements

* Good verbal and written communication skills so that effective is feedback is provided to Supervisor.
* Contributes to department/unit teamwork, adapts to change and fast working environment
* Ability to develop and/or implement new and improved ways of doing work. Makes suggestions to supervisor that could improve departmental effectiveness and better accomplish work goals.
* Sanding skills, woodworking and finishing skills
* 6 months - 1-year related experience and/or training, preferably in a manufacturing environment
* Ability to read and interpret work instructions

Education & Qualifications

* 2 years' experience and/or training.
* Guitar or musical background preferred but not required.
* SUCCESSFUL Candidate MUST PASS E-Verify document/background check

Equipment Used

Metal Carts, Work Bench, cloth towels, air sander, sandpaper, air hoses, and dust face mask, power sander, and other sanding supplies. Air spray gun, air sander, sandpaper, wool pad, scotch brite, cloth, air hoses, and other paint and sanding supplies. Safety glasses, closed toe shoes and earplugs(optional).
