As a Model Maker, your job is to work in our model shop to provide prototype parts, custom tooling as well as other parts, to both R&D and Order Fulfillment customers. The selected candidate must be able to produce parts which meet customer's requirements and specifications, as well as working as a team with engineering to identify DFM opportunities. Requires ability to quickly produce prototypes from a "napkin sketch" design, all the way to a fully annotated 3D model with 2D drawing. Ability to setup and program CNC milling machines as well as operate manual mills, lathes, surface grinders, etc. Exposure and familiarity working with CAD packages such as Siemens NX and CAM packages such as Mastercam. Effective and safe use of Model Shop equipment and materials to fabricate components, prototypes, fixtures, etc., from verbal instructions, 2D sketch/drawing, and/or 3D solid model. SA-TECH is currently seeking to hire a Machinist/Technician (Engineering Technician IV) to serve as a mid-level technician in the Machine Shop for our Advanced Packaging Support Department, supporting engineers and machine shop personnel in the mechanical fabrication, mechanical assembly, test and installation of prototype parts used in aircraft systems. This position will be based at Naval Base Ventura County, Point Mugu, CA. As a CNC Machinist and programmer, you must be proficient in CAD/CAM software, either GibbsCam or MasterCam preferred. This position manufactures complex parts from raw stock of different kinds of metals, metal alloys and other materials through the use of machine tools and precision handwork. Most items are complex and will require coordination of the work of several skilled trades in completing specialized work segments. The position will be based at Naval Base Ventura County at Point Mugu, CA. Specific duties include (although others may be added as needed): Program and set up CNC mills and lathes Operate CNC mills, lathes, and band saws Operate conventional equipment such as bench grinders, hand tools, deburr equipment, etc. Read and interpret blueprints for inspecting parts Use measuring instruments such as micrometers, height gauges, calipers, gauge pins and thread gauges Clean, sort and organize Perform minor assembly work including helicoils, nut plates, nuts, bolts, etc. Provide technical guidance to lower-level technicians.
