Sandow launched his business in 2003, initially getting off the ground with a single magazine, NewBeauty, aimed at the beauty industry.
NewBeauty was launched in 2005 and also has grown to a half-million copies.
In 2012, he bought Fred Segal, a Los Angeles retailer favored by celebrities, and recently opened a Fred Segal store in Tokyo.
In 2012, Florida Trend magazine ranked Sandow among the state's top 200 private companies, with revenue at just under $100 million.
