North Carolina Education Corps (NCEC) is a response to the impact COVID-19 is having on schools, as students struggle to keep up with learning. We bring together community members to support students and accelerate learning, seeking to provide quality, whole child and academic support to young students in the wake of the pandemic. We do this by partnering with public schools to recruit, train, and deploy "corps members." Corps members, including community college and university students, recent graduates, and retirees, are paid to work part-time as tutors. Corps members work directly for a NC school district. Corps members build relationships and connect with young students. They help teachers reach students who need additional academic support. They accelerate COVID learning recovery with students, families, and school personnel.
During the 2023-2024 school year, NC Education Corps members will serve as high-impact Literacy and/or Math tutors focused on supporting students with their foundational literacy and math skills. As early literacy and/or Math tutors, corps members will assist K-3 students with building foundational skills in reading and math as appropriate. Our call to action is simple: Imagine if every K-3 student had access to a tutor. Step up to serve as a corps member. Join a statewide effort to support students and accelerate learning.
Job Summary
NCEC corps members are hired by a participating public-school unit (school district or charter school) and will serve from mid September to mid May. There are two positions offered, 10-15 hours/week and 20-29 hours/week. Corps members will work directly with a school-based lead to administer tutoring sessions with K-3 students on a 1:1 or 1:3 small group basis. Tutoring sessions focus on early literacy and Math skills, reinforcing lessons introduced by teachers.
NCEC will provide ongoing, cohort based professional learning throughout the year as we confront the needs of early literacy and math skills in NC. Each corps member is assigned a Learning Coach who will lead them through pre-service and in-service learning during their 9 month commitment. Learning sessions will build knowledge around high-impact tutoring, the science of reading and the delivery of reading and math instruction. NCEC leads the corps members in tutoring development while the partner school is the employer.

This Opportunity:The primary function of the Mobile Crisis Professional III is to work as a member of a Mobile Crisis Team to provide crisis intervention though psychiatric crisis assessments and assist in short-term crisis service planning and coordination in order to de-escalate and stabilize potential situations in an effort to maintain and promote safety. This position may facilitate when necessary involuntary commitment and placement in higher levels of care.What You'll Do:
• Work with team on appropriate assessments, intervention methods and multi-axial diagnosis.
• Provide direct services to individuals who have requested services or who need services as identified by Screening, Triage and Referral (STR), the MCM Team, or community service providers such as hospitals and law enforcement.
• Provide intervention methods such as: face-to-face or telephone assessment, behavior of family intervention, hospital or respite placement, recommendation for further intervention, the creation of a crisis plan, or follow up with assessment.
• Assess individuals who are in crisis, to determine their level of service needed.
• Evaluate the individual's support system, the family's or caregiver's ability to maintain the individual in the community given the present situation, and determine the level of immediate support needed.
• Provide clinical services including in-depth crisis assessment and behavior interventions.
• Facilitate the least restrictive and safest environment for the individual requesting services. These arrangements may include hospitalization, voluntary and involuntary commitment or other placement.
• Serve as liaison along with the provider and STR or other appropriate service providers to arrange for clinically appropriate follow up service for the individual and their family.
• Work closely with the on-call psychiatrists in the management and determination or needed level of care.
• Assist in training necessary for implementation of crisis services, to include training to staff who may be confronted with crisis situations, and serve as a resource for other training as necessary.
• CSAC, LCAS, or CCS certified/licensed staff may also facilitate groups, individual sessions, and otherwise be available as needed to support the substance abuse recovery of individuals attending non-hospital medical detoxification program/facility based crisis program.
• Attend and actively participate in meetings and training as required. Maintain certification in all agency, state and federal training requirements.
• Demonstrate knowledge of and comply with all agency policies and procedures, as well as state and federal statutes and regulations related to specific program areas.
• Demonstrate knowledge of emergency procedures and assist in crisis situations.
• Follow service definition guidelines for services being provided.
• Complete all other relevant responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
• Driving and travel may be required.

Job Requirements:
Current RN licensure in state of practice, successful completion of a nursing education from an approved school of nursing with two years of clinical nursing experience and at least one year of hospice nursing experience preferred.
Knowledge of the framework, function, and organization of a home health and hospice care program and the nurse's role as a member of the patient care team.
Working knowledge of the principles and practice of nursing according to nursing practice act, agencies policies and procedures, and reimbursement guidelines.
12 hours of continuing education annually.
CPR certification.
Accept travel based on agency need as well as weekend/evening and holiday call assignments.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
Camp Counselors make time away from school fun! As a Track Out Camp counselor, you will lead and actively participate in active/passive games, arts and crafts, food experiences, outdoor activities, science experiments and more. Camp Counselors are expected to be role models and provide meaningful experiences for their campers.
This position is supervised by the Camp Directors and full-time Recreation Program Specialist. This position is part-time and does not qualify for benefits.
A SAMPLE OF THE ESSENTIALS:
* Actively leads participants in active/passive games, arts and crafts, food experiences, outdoor activities, science experiments, and others scheduled by Camp Directors.
* Effectively communicates at all times with Camp Directors.
* Monitor campers, with support of full-time staff, who have medical/inclusion accommodations.
* Administers first aid.
* Documents injuries and behavior incidents alongside Camp Directors.
* Identifies unsafe situations and work hazards, corrects them if possible and reports them to their supervisor.
* Implements camp rules and maintains behavior management policies in a positive manner.
* Maintain clean work and play areas.
* Carries out job duties in a safe manner in accordance with all Town policies; follows safety procedures.
* Driving a mini bus for field trips. (No CDL required)

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
Must be 16 years or older at the time of employment.
An equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position.
