Position Profile:
Under the administrative supervision of the Dean of Student Success & Counseling, the Project Manager of the Pico Partnership Program will be responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of the Pico Partnership grant. The Project Manager will also assume the primary leadership role in all aspects of grant management and administration.
Distinguishing Characteristics
Project Manager positions are temporary academic administrator positions. Project Manager positions are specially funded and exist as long as the specific project funding continues; project. This is a contract position with an term of 3 months, rolling thereafter. The job specifications are developed based on grant awards. The positions are developed to manage one or more special projects awarded to the District. Project managers generally conduct research; review, evaluate and analyze statistical data, manage budgets; prepare proposals and administrative reports; prepare summaries, narrative analyses and make recommendations. Facilitate, coordinate and fulfill project challenges. Project Managers may provide supervision to District staff, including, but not limited to directing work duties, conducting performance evaluations, recruitment, and selection.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
* Help develop and coordinate the delivery of program services.
* Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with program partners, both internal and external, serving as the primary contact for all matters regarding the grant.
* Communicate effectively with SMC's Fiscal Services Office; the Purchasing Department; Dean of Student Success & Counseling; and the Office of Human Resources to ensure that the grant has access to the resources it needs to successfully achieve its goals on time and within budget.
* Assist with outreach efforts to promote the program and services of Pico Partnership through media, public relations channels, and public presentations to targeted groups.
* Develop and maintain the Pico Partnership website and student participation database.
* Develop a detailed project plan to track progress.

* Effectively manage the grant budget, ensuring documentation exists to support each expense, including time and effort reporting.
* Develop and monitor professional service agreements with external evaluator and 4-year institutions.
* Work with the project analyst to assess the effectiveness of the project.
* Prepare reports to funding agencies and the District administrations.
* Assure accurate and complete records systems.
* Attend all required grantee meetings with the City of Santa Monica.
* Collaborate with SMC IT staff to implement technology solutions, ensuring streamlined workflows and integration with other SMC software systems.
* Engage in ongoing evaluation of implementation for continuous improvement. Prepare reports on results.
* Manage project budgets, monitor expenditures, investigate travel-related items, and procure equipment and supplies as needed.

Starting salaries for PT Faculty are based on educational achievement. Initial placement is within the starting salary range. Further advancements are based on longevity and educational growth.

* Deliver laboratory experiments involving bioinformatics, recombinant DNA technology, protein purification/downstream processing, and protein identification techniques such as concentration assays, ELISA, and Western Blot analysis. * Work with students of varied and diverse educational backgrounds and levels of preparation.
* Provide instruction that addresses various student-learning styles. Must be able to utilize various medial formats and provide students instruction in utilizing the internet to complete class and laboratory assignments.
* Develop internet modules and courses.
* Work safely in a laboratory setting and provide student instruction and supervision in laboratory safety.
* Operates and utilizes various types of standard and specialized laboratory equipment and supplies including centrifuges, incubators, laminar flow hoods, biosafety cabinets, water purification system, autoclaves, thermal cyclers, gel digital photo-documentation system, pressure chromatography system, HPLC, ELISA analyzer, CO2 incubators for cell culture, liquid nitrogen dewars and cold storage freezers, phase contrast and fluorescent microscopes, shaking incubator, water baths, mechanical tools, and audio-visual equipment.
Minimum Qualifications
Any bachelor's degree or higher AND two years of full-time professional experience

* The professional experience required must be directly related to the faculty member's teaching assignment.
Extensive knowledge of biotechnology laboratory techniques, including recombinant DNA technology, protein purification, HPLC, gel electrophoresis, aseptic techniques, mammalian cell culture, immunocytochemistry, and immunological techniques required. Experience with cGMPs, SOPs, or other FDA-regulated documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree or master's degree in the biological sciences, chemistry, biochemistry, or engineering
* Two or more years teaching biotechnology and Life Sciences courses in the disciplines of biology, microbiology, physiology, and/or anatomy in the classroom and laboratory at the community college and/or university level
* Knowledge of the skill set requirements of the biotechnology industry
* Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical and/or learning disabilities
* Experience with problem and project-based learning and the implementation of new instructional technologies to enhance student success
