This position allows for a hybrid work schedule with a mix of work spent in office and working remote from home.
Responsibilities:
This position will offer you the ability to directly apply your knowledge of protective relaying and controls systems for HV and EHV substations. As a Project Lead of an engineering and design team, you will work on a wide range of substation modifications and upgrades to support client requirements and reviews including creating calculations, document designs, and specifications.
You will be responsible for preparing relaying philosophies, including selecting relay, control, and communications equipment, developing SCADA and telecommunication concepts and configurations, and overseeing the preparation of I/O assignments and connection diagrams.
As a Project LeadElectricalEngineer, you will be responsible for guiding junior and senior-level engineers and designers in protection and controls engineering design efforts, including providing guidance with the coordination of detailed design phases for all aspects of the engineering work.
You will work on challenging assignments that include investigating, trouble-shooting, and solving a wide variety of engineering issues.
You will perform analysis and design of single line diagrams, substation relaying & metering diagrams (i.e. A.C. schematic diagrams), and D.C. Schematic diagrams.
Prepare engineering studies for client and peer review.
Perform independent reviews of work performed by others including calculations and drawing preparation.
Coordinate and provide guidance to other engineers, project managers, client personnel, and suppliers to ensure a complete and timely design.
Perform reviews of existing facilities to propose upgrades and replacements, and present findings and recommendations to clients and peers.
Develop your career via peer-learning through sharing of knowledge with other experienced engineers by way of Sargent & Lundy's systems of process and associated “Communities of Practice.”
Provide guidance as a mentor in the development of less experienced engineers.

Essential skills and experience:
This position requires a BSEE with a power systems or controls emphasis from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
12 or more years experience with a focus on protection / control / telecommunications for high voltage substations; including design, installation, and coordination.
PE license.
Experience with serving as firm/client liaison in a support or leadengineering role.
Experience in writing and providing support documentation for relay calculations.
Experience with the design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
Proficiency with any of the following programs: SKM, ETAP, ASPEN, CDEGS, or vendor software.
Familiarity with design codes and standards, such as NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE and ANSI.
Experience with various vendor protective relay equipment typically used in substation protection, including SEL, ABB, GE, Areva, and Basler.
Proficiency with MS Office applications.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Valued but not required skills and experience:
Prior experience is desirable to include in-line, bus and equipment protection, breaker, transformer and similar equipment control, RTU and data concentrator based SCADA systems, telemetering and communications (fiber optics, microwave, power line carrier, etc.).
AutoCAD or MicroStation experience.
Construction and start-up experience.
Testing or commissioning experience.

The Electrical Team Lead role is to serve as the overall technical lead on projects of various sizes and complexities, with the support of a team of electricalengineers and designers.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Leads work on multiple projects with a team of design colleagues to conceptualize and develop full documentation for new construction and renovation projects for multiple types of facilities such as healthcare, commercial offices, higher education, research laboratory, and industrial facilities.
- Provides supervision to staff of all levels to develop staff skills and abilities by providing guidance and mentor to strengthen technical abilities and develop career goals.
- Leads in client meetings on projects to establish design criteria, review design progress as well as supporting through construction administration.
- Leads in evaluation, selection, and engineering of all electricalengineered systems and products for a project.

Bachelors' degree or equivalent in Electrical or Architectural Engineering with a lighting/electrical emphasis required.
Minimum 15 years in related professional experience preferred.
Professional Engineering license required.

Education and Experience
10 years of related experience (Consulting preferred) relevant working experience in designing Mechanical and HVAC systems, with a minimum 5 years of project management experience.
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution, or equivalent relevant experience.
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) is a plus.
PMP certification, is desirable.
Broad general knowledge of various buildings designs, including a strong familiarity with multiple disciplines including, Mechanical, Electrical, and Structural Engineering as well as Architecture and Interior Design

Responsibilities
A Typical Day Might Include:
The following duties are typical of the position but are not all encompassing. Responsibilities include those required to deliver quality service on schedule and within budget in a team environment.
Leads and orchestrates projects by exercising sound judgment in independently assessing, selecting, and creatively adapting standard methodologies tailored for our valued food and beverage industry clients.
Performs most assignments with instructions as to general results expected, exercises sound judgment to resolve problems, but may receive technical guidance on unusual or complex problems and solicits the approval of the department manager or project engineer for proposed design solutions.
Performs detailed phases of engineering work on major projects or total engineering work on projects of smaller or moderate scope.
Analyzes mechanical, utility and HVAC systems, and provides solutions to efficiency, production and other issues.
Works with the client and internal resources to develop project scopes schedules and budgets.
Crafts precise engineering and capital cost estimates to ensure project viability and cost-effectiveness.
May devise new approaches and solutions to problems encountered and communicates changes to the team.
May supervise and coordinate the work of less experienced engineers and designers and be responsible for checking a portion or all of the drawings completed on the project within the discipline.
May take part in client contact and business development activities.
Meets with client to define project scope, present project progress, and assure client satisfaction.
Develops engineering concepts and presentations.
Coordinates work with other disciplines.
Keeps current on new design methods and ideas.
Travel required.
Valid driver's license required. May be waived for international assignments.
Qualifications
Qualifications You'll Need on Day One:
A Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, qualifying for licensure in your state, is essential for this position.
PE or PE-tracked strongly preferred, ten (10) or more years of related practical experience with former employer(s) required.
A minimum of 8 years of experience designing HVAC and mechanical utility systems, along with a solid background in sanitary production environments, is ideal.
Prior consulting experience in the pharmaceutical industry and/or food industry, and experience in sanitary design required.
Proficient in MS Office and familiarity with AutoCAD or other CAD programs.
Strong communications, facilitation, and team leadership skills.
Salary Range: $120,000 to $130,000 a year depending on location, education, experience, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.

+ EIT professional designation with ambition to attain PE license.
