* Perform structural analysis and design of pole, lattice, framed, and guyed structures.
* Perform foundation designs.
* Perform conductor selection studies, shielding, grounding and induction studies.
* Develop cost estimates and schedules and prepare specifications for the procurement of transmission line materials and construction.
* Specify transmission line components.
* Model transmission lines in PLS-CADD, determine right of way requirements, calculate conductor sags, and develop transmission line plan and profile drawings.
* Review vendor submittals.
This position is based on a hybrid work schedule and will require in-office work 3 days per week.

Essential skills and experience:
* This position requires a degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
* Related engineering, internship or co-op work experience.
* Proficiency with PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE.
* 3+ years of related experience in transmission line engineering.
* Knowledge of the practical application of engineering principles including basic transmission line engineering.
* Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of technical plans, drawings, and models.
* Proficiency with MS Office applications.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Valued but not required skills and experience:
* Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, and designation as an Engineer in Training.
* Proficiency with any of the following programs: PLS-TOWER, SAG10, LPILE, MFAD, ArcGIS, CDEGS, AutoCAD, Microstation.
* Experience in writing and providing support documentation for engineering calculations.
* Familiarity with design codes and standards such as NESC, IEC, CSA, IEEE, ANSI, IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI 318.

Your Opportunity
As a Civil Engineer in Training in our Community Development Group in multiple locations throughout the Midwest, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of innovative and diverse projects from the design of civil and municipal engineering projects for highways and local roads, public utilities and public works, parks, trails, pipelines, tunnels, renewable energy projects and related infrastructure projects. This position involves working collaboratively with design teams in the development of construction plans and specifications; preparing reports, studies, and construction contract documents; computing quantities and preparing cost estimates; performing field observations and assisting in the coordination and management of construction activities.

Your Key Responsibilities
- Perform civil design and technical tasks on projects under the supervision of the Project Manager or Project Engineer.
- Work with other engineering disciplines and professionals in the coordination of the project.
- Perform field work/construction observation under the supervision of a senior engineer/designer and/or construction manager.
- Perform data analysis and calculations to analyze and design civil system components.
- Collect data and gathering information to support design decisions.
- Interpret and verify compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards and practices.
- Analyze proposed project solutions to ensure reliability, resource efficiency and cost effectiveness.
- Communicate professionally and effectively, both verbally and written, with project team members, clients, and contractors.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

- Basic understanding of general concepts of civil engineering design.

Education and Experience
Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and successful completion of the EIT exam or the ability to take the EIT exam within six months of starting preferred. Related Co-op/Internship experience preferred for new graduates; 1-2 years of related civil engineering experience for more experienced engineers.

**Pay Range:**
- Locations in MN, VT, & Various CA, NY Areas - Min Salary $ 67,800.00 - Max Salary $ 94,900.00
- Locations in CO, HI, IL, MD & Various CA, NJ Areas - Min Salary $ 74,600.00 - Max Salary $ 104,400.00
**Pay Transparency:** In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
