Saunders Construction company history timeline

1972

The Saunders story began on February 2, 1972, when Richard C. Saunders incorporated Saunders Construction in the basement of his Englewood, Colo., home.

When Dick Saunders started his construction company in 1972, he had a cramped office on East Evans Avenue with two desks and an answering machine.

When Dick Saunders founded Saunders Construction in 1972, he sought to create a company that operated with honesty and integrity.

1974

Saunders first won a King Soopers project in 1974 and has since handled more than 200 major projects for the company.

1980

The 1980's saw Saunders focusing on and growing its internal organizational structure.

1989

Fiddler’s Green Amphitheater (1989) – first entertainment project.

1999

Saunders joined the Citadel Group in 1999.

2005

In 2005, Saunders completed its first project out of state – the Comcast Technical Operations remodel project in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

2014

Saunders acquired Heath Construction in 2014.

2015

Schmidt assumed the role of President and CEO in 2015, following Beeble’s retirement.
